Chapter 206: Chapter 16: Super Dangerous Species (4th update, extra for monthly pass)

”Your words have no flaws for now. After you do one thing with me, you will become a soldier of the Empire.

But! If I find that you have ulterior motives, I will personally deal with you.”

Cold air emanated from Esdeath’s body.

”Oh.”

Su Xiao replied indifferently, as if he was accustomed to seeing life and death.

At this moment, Su Xiao sighed inwardly, realizing just how exhausting it was to put on a façade, but this was the quickest way to join the Empire.

Moreover, Su Xiao discovered something: some female characters in the anime were somewhat different from what he previously understood. Take Esdeath in front of him, for example; she was completely a battle-loving Sadist maniac, her ferocity no less than Su Xiao’s. Trying to make such a woman obey one’s every command was nothing but a pipe dream.

He might be able to kill Esdeath, but making her his subordinate was entirely impossible.

Once he joined the Imperial Camp, meeting with Red Eye or Leone from Night Raid was basically a matter of life and death—a difference in camps and stances.

Thinking about picking up girls in the World of Crimson is living in a dream; beauties like Esdeath and Red Eye are generals or assassins cultivated with their own beliefs, changing these beliefs is simply wishful thinking.

Crunch, crunch, Su Xiao and Esdeath walked one after another in the snow.

”Aren’t you curious about where we are going?”

Esdeath looked sideways at Su Xiao.

”Not curious.”

If others pretended to be from Anbu, they might be seen through by Esdeath, but the bloody aura upon Su Xiao fit the Anbu temperament perfectly.

”Not bad training. Which country’s assassination squad trained you?”

Su Xiao remained silent, while Esdeath, walking ahead, had a smile on her face.

”If you won’t reveal this, then my previous words are void, and you can’t join the Empire.”

Esdeath’s beautiful eyes sparkled.

”Is that so? Then forget it.”

Su Xiao stopped walking and turned to leave in the opposite direction.

”Just kidding, no need to be so serious.”

Esdeath stood still, but Su Xiao’s steps did not halt.

In fact, the nature of Anbu’s work was similar to spies in the real world. As Anbu, everything could be said except this—it was an iron rule from ancient times. Su Xiao, who had mixed in the Underground World, understood this.

”It’s still the same as I said before; help me with one thing, and afterward, you will become a member of the Empire’s Anbu, directly under me.”

This time, Su Xiao stopped walking.

”All right.”

Su Xiao breathed a sigh of relief internally; testing was everywhere, and he needed to be careful in the future.

The two walked in the blizzard, the cold wind biting, but Esdeath’s expression remained unchanged. It seemed her Imperial tool could ignore the cold climate.

Su Xiao followed silently; unless Esdeath asked him a question, he would not speak actively to avoid saying too much and revealing flaws. Esdeath was not a reasonable person, though she seemed harmonious now, once she grasped a flaw, it would be a matter of life and death.

”Don’t you want to know our destination?”

Esdeath initiated the conversation; this casual chat was not without a hidden agenda.

”No, but it would be best to arrive within three hours; otherwise, the cold climate will reduce my combat strength.”

Su Xiao’s mind raced, suspecting Esdeath might take him to a very dangerous place.

”It won’t take that long; at most half an hour. I lived in the Extreme North as a child. There is a super dangerous species here called ’Fenrir,’ and those Giant Wolves that attacked us earlier are its descendants. If I’m not mistaken, the Extreme North Army has already reached an agreement with that dangerous species, and we are going to eliminate it now.”

After hearing Esdeath’s words, Su Xiao felt a bit heavy-hearted.

The dangerous species in the World of Crimson aren’t weak; the super dangerous ones are the best among them. Some super dangerous species are even stronger than Esdeath and are naturally able to use the elements of nature.

Super dangerous species are somewhat similar to monsters; they have strong bodies, and their abilities mainly involve manipulating natural elements. Some can breathe fire, others can control ice, and some have such tenacious life energy that even if they are killed, their muscles can survive for hundreds of years.

The reason Imperial tools possess supernatural powers is because of these super dangerous species.

The trip was risky but also offered high rewards, and with Esdeath’s character, there were only two possibilities for her bringing Su Xiao along.

One, the super dangerous species called ’Fenrir’ was too strong, and Esdeath wasn’t a match alone.

Two, Esdeath was testing Su Xiao, probing both his identity and his intentions.

Su Xiao suspected both were true, which made him feel heavy-hearted: if Esdeath couldn’t handle the monster alone, he probably couldn’t either.

”We’re here.”

After half an hour of traveling in the snow, the two arrived at the entrance of a cave. The cave was at least ten meters high, pitch-black inside, with cold wind howling as it blew in.

”Can you sense the situation inside?”

Esdeath drew the fine sword from her waist, staring intently into the cave.

”There should be one creature; cannot confirm.”

Su Xiao sensed the situation in the cave; the creature inside was somewhat eerie, and sometimes he could sense it, sometimes he couldn’t.

”That’s all you can sense?”

”It’s four meters tall, about seven meters long, with a barely discernible life presence, likely hibernating. If I deal with it alone, I have about a forty percent chance.”

Even though Su Xiao said this, if Esdeath truly let him handle it alone, he would leave immediately. Esdeath was testing him, and he was testing Esdeath.

Even if joining the Imperial Camp was impossible, he could consider joining Night Raid instead, which would just slow task progress.

”Barely discernible life signs, huh? Then it must be correct. Cover me when we engage.”

Esdeath first stepped into the cave entrance, and Su Xiao followed.

Things were progressing more smoothly than imagined; Esdeath wasn’t using him as a pawn, so he had to show a bit of sincerity; after all, no one is a fool.

”Wait.”

Su Xiao halted Esdeath, and she turned her head in confusion.

”If my sensing is correct, that creature is sleeping. Your approach is too direct; considering its strength, I suggest a sneak attack.”

”A sneak attack?”

”Yes, I’ll infiltrate first; support me immediately after the fight starts.”

Esdeath pondered for a moment.

”Are you confident?”

”I am.”

Su Xiao’s straightforward answer made Esdeath no longer hesitate.

”Once sound is heard from inside, I can support you in at most five seconds.”

Su Xiao took a deep breath; it was time to present his ’pledge.’ No amount of flowery talk was as effective in earning trust as doing something.

Dragon Slash appeared in his hand, Su Xiao’s breathing gradually slowed, and even his heartbeat started to reduce.

Retracting all external aura, Su Xiao stepped quietly into the cave, producing no sound even while stepping on the snow.

Esdeath’s eyes brightened upon witnessing this; he was definitely a top-level assassin, making her believe more in Su Xiao’s origins.

Having infiltrated dozens of meters into the cave, past a large open area, a Giant Wolf with snow-white fur was curled up sleeping soundly on the open ground.

Although this Giant Wolf was deep in slumber, Su Xiao still felt it was very dangerous, his hair standing on end.

With his aura suppressed to the extreme, Su Xiao silently approached the Giant Wolf; it was the super dangerous species named ’Fenrir.’

Raising Dragon Slash high, the blade glinted coldly as Su Xiao tensed his arm muscles, striking with all his might.

Splurt.

Blood spattered, and an ear the size of a palm was severed.

Awoo~.

Like a puppy suddenly kicked, Fenrir howled in pain and leaped up.

The Giant Wolf Fenrir was now awake; its savage eyes locked on Su Xiao, a low growl rumbling in its throat, a mix of confusion and anger evident in its wolfish eyes.

Fenrir was awakened the instant Dragon Slash struck, making this super dangerous species difficult to deal with.

The Giant Wolf Fenrir stood four meters tall, about seven meters long, its fur as white as snow, and its sharp claws reflected a metallic sheen.

Su Xiao’s attack aimed for Fenrir’s head side; originally, he intended to behead it, but the Wolf’s speed was terrifying.

Urgent footsteps came from behind—it was Esdeath arriving.
