Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 850: Chapter 844: Going to Eat with Mr. Mo _1

If it were anyone else, they might feel too nauseated to eat meat. However, Qin Xue was well accustomed to it and had no such discomfort. Dare she say, those who had been surgeons for a long time would not suffer so.

“I prefer lighter meals, but you can eat whatever you want,” Mr. Mo didn’t make his own preferences the priority, but rather respected Qin Xue’s tastes.

It mostly had to do with his old age. Too oily food only upset his stomach. But in this era, a lot of people are still left wanting to even get enough to eat, let alone chase after oily foods. Therefore, Mr. Mo’s preference for light meals was understandable to Qin Xue.

“Mr. Mo, let’s get some beef rice noodle,” Qin Xue thought there was nothing wrong with the elderly man eating beef, moreover, it would satiate her own craving as well.

“Alright.” After hearing so, Mr. Mo smiled approvingly. This young woman was very considerate and made for comfortable company.

Listening to this, Qin Xue gave a small laugh. It seemed that Mr. Mo too preferred beef. She had a hunch by the way his eyes lit up when she mentioned beef noodles.

Indeed, in this era, cows were mainly used for ploughing. They were rarely raised for meat and only the old or sickly ones were slaughtered. Still, it was quite the task to locate beef for sale. But the beef offal noodles she had eaten before were quite good and she figured that they might as well eat at that restaurant.

After discussing the plans with Mr. Mo, she waited at the entrance. She then went to wash her hands and get her purse, while Mr. Mo put away the surgery reports into his office. Normally, someone of Mr. Mo’s age would have retired already. But since he had been a field doctor during his youth, he was assigned to work at the Armed Forces General Hospital after the reform and opening up.

When the time came for him to retire and enjoy his twilight years, he had found it boring. So he came to the hospital to help with patient care. The hospital administration also accommodated him considering the personnel shortage in Hua Country. That’s why he hadn’t yet retired despite his advanced age.

Qin Xue waited at the hospital entrance with her baggage, gazing at the dusk-laden sky and wondering whether her two children had sobbed or whether they had eaten rice noodles.

Only later did she find out that Chu Molin had indeed bought rice noodles for the children so that they wouldn’t trouble her during the night. However, whenever Molin was home, he was the one always causing a fuss, not the children. Hence, she was fully convinced that Molin had ulterior motives in buying the rice noodles home.

And Chu Molin indeed had ulterior motives. He had been missing his wife for a week yet his two sons had their mother to stay with them every day.

Of course, he intended to spend more time with his wife over the weekend. Moreover, his night-time interactions with his wife were hardly feasible with two kids constantly around. Therefore his purchasing of the rice noodles was also for the children’s sake.

If Qin Xue had known this, she would have probably given him a kick, accusing him of sophistry. It was as if a weasel paying a visit to a hen, obviously with impure motives – to take her by surprise and win her over subtly.

Who knows, Chu Molin might even have taken delight in hearing Qin Xue’s inner thoughts. After all, she was absolutely right. Deep within his heart, even though the two boys were his, they were to be raised roughly; how could they stick around his wife all the time?

However, Chu Molin had forgotten that these two were just babies, barely two-month-old infants. How could they be raised roughly?

“Sorry to keep you waiting. Let’s go. After we eat, you should get back and rest early. Whenever the surgery order comes, someone will notify you,” Mr. Mo looked at Qin Xue with a benevolent smile. He had never married or had children, and being around Qin Xue gave him a better feeling than accompanying Nangong Susu. Hence, he naturally wanted to be a bit nicer to Qin Xue, not that he wouldn’t be kind to Susu.
