Corpse Burier: I Can Nourish Corpse

Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Tier One Soul Stealing

Night falls.

The time has come.

Wen Jiu carefully arranged the Tier-Entering Talisman Brush and the Tier-Entering Yin Ghost Fish Blood Ink, then took out the gray Talisman Paper made from Tier-Entering Demon Skin.

As the Yin Technique slowly flowed through the Talisman Brush onto the Talisman Paper, Wen Jiu swiftly began to draw the Talismanic Patterns according to the methods recorded in the Yin Talisman Record. Since it was his first time, he sought stability and slowness.

He was also experiencing what the old Talisman Master meant by the weighty intent.

What is weighty intent?

It is the feeling during the drawing process of the Talismanic Patterns.

This feeling can only be understood but not conveyed.

During this process of weighty intent, Wen Jiu directed most of his Spiritual Power to control the output of the Yin Technique.

This is the focus on technique.

And the focus on stability.

Because the drawing and composition of the Talismanic Patterns must be completed in one go; any delay or pause might lead to failure.

Moments later.

The first Talismanic Pattern was drawn smoothly.

Wen Jiu quickly lifted the brush and gasped heavily because he hadn’t even breathed while maintaining his focus on stability.

Having taken the first step, Wen Jiu couldn’t help but smile.

”Thanks to previously refining my body with Earthly Evil Yin Qi, my hands are very steady; and thanks to living two lives, my Spiritual Power is more abundant than most; also, thanks to the corrosive effect of my Yin Technique...”

After a sigh of appreciation.

Wen Jiu quickly calmed his breathing, took a deep breath, held it, and continued to slowly draw the Talismanic Patterns.

A Tier-Entering Soul-Seizing Talisman, at the most basic, requires seventeen various Talismanic Patterns of different sizes and shapes to form.

The further along, the more difficult it gets.

So if you can avoid breathing, do so.

However.

Upon drawing the third Talismanic Pattern, Wen Jiu was slightly distracted, leading to a little excess in the output of the Yin Technique.

Even though Wen Jiu quickly adjusted, when the third Talismanic Pattern was completed, it was still a failure. The Yin Technique was not circulating, nor could it create a bond or resonance with the previous two patterns.

”Try again!”

Wen Jiu crumpled up the failed Talisman Paper and threw it behind him, held his breath, and started drawing the second sheet.

However.

For two full hours.

Twenty sheets of Talisman Paper in total, yet Wen Jiu didn’t succeed with a single one, the farthest he got was the sixth Talismanic Pattern.

Wen Jiu took a deep breath and stopped drawing.

Because after two hours of intense concentration, his head had started to ache and dizzy.

Thus, Wen Jiu rested for half an hour.

Until midnight.

As midnight arrived, the day’s settlement commenced.

No change in experience gained by the Black Corpse in the Corpse Remains Death Land daily, 48 points per day, in seven days it would step into the upper realm.

Ignoring the others, Wen Jiu’s gaze fell on the experience gained from the Soul-Seizing Talisman.

[Successfully drew twenty Tier One Soul-Seizing Talismans after nightfall, but all failed, panel experience +1, Soul-Seizing Talisman experience +4]

”Five failed attempts for one point of experience.”

Wen Jiu was quite satisfied with this result.

What he feared the most was failing and gaining no experience.

”There are still thirty sheets of Talisman Paper left, even if all fail, I can gain 6 more experience points.” Wen Jiu glanced at the gray Talisman Paper pressed on the table.

After closing the settlement panel, Wen Jiu continued drawing talismans.

Regarding his Night Patrol Department duties, Wen Jiu feigned illness to take leave.

Because in recent days, he had thought it through carefully, and now the Steward and Elder of Feixian Peak were searching for something in the Corpse Remains Death Land.

If the spy from Feixian Peak were concerned that the item might be found and thus caused disturbances, then he, being only at Qi Cultivation Second Layer, would be in grave danger.

So he would rather forgo his salary.

Wen Jiu wanted to stay away from trouble.

...

In the following days.

Wen Jiu continued drawing talismans.

Maintaining a pace of thirty sheets each night, until his brain could no longer endure the prolonged consumption of Spiritual Power.

His debt to Wang Nian had already reached forty Low-grade Spirit Stones; honestly, Wen Jiu felt embarrassed to borrow more.

But Wang Nian proactively asked Wen Jiu if he needed them.

...

It was on this day, during the daytime.

Before Wen Jiu could recover from the excessive consumption of Spiritual Power, Liu Xiao appeared at his door.

He coincidentally bumped into Wang Nian, who was bringing Wen Jiu some nourishing bone soup, ”Younger Brother Wen, get up and have some soup, your sister-in-law simmered this bone for ten hours...”

Liu Xiao gave the pot of soup in Wang Nian’s hand a sideways glance, then looked again at Wang Nian’s attentive demeanor, furrowed his brow, and quickly asked, ”Fellow Daoist Wang, couldn’t it be that Wen Jiu has been devoured by Yin Qi?”

”No, he’s perfectly fine.”

Wang Nian freed up one hand to knock on the door.

Liu Xiao was even more puzzled, ”Then why is that?”

Steward delivering food to an Apprentice Disciple.

Does that make any sense?

Not to say he hadn’t seen it before, he hadn’t even heard of it.

However, Wang Nian said nothing, just smiled.

Soon, Wen Jiu got up and opened the door, greeting the two and, while expressing gratitude, took the soup pot from Wang Nian’s hand.

”Just as long as he’s okay.” Liu Xiao gave Wen Jiu a once over, initially worried that Wen Jiu might have Yin Qi entering his body due to practicing the Yinzhou Corpse Nourishing Technique, but seeing Wen Jiu now, he felt relieved.

Liu Xiao then changed the subject, ”Steward Mu asked me to pass a message, that Li Ye has been transferred to Lianwu Mountain.”

”Lianwu Mountain?”

”A small mountain fifty miles away from Feixian Peak, where there’s a Market for Independent Practitioners in the mountain. Feixian Peak holds some enterprises there, and from now on, he will be the steward there. As for when he might return... within three years is certainly out of the question.”

Three years.

Already pushing the limits.

After all, Li Ye still has a steward master in the Talisman Room.

Liu Xiao continued, ”Three years later, when Li Ye returns, how you handle it will be entirely up to you. Remember what Steward Mu told you!”

”Thank you, Brother Liu!”

Wen Jiu promptly delivered his grateful salute.

”Steward Mu wanted to remind you, if you’re practicing Yin Technique, don’t rush it; the Yinzhou Corpse Nourishing Technique puts a considerable strain on the body.”

”Don’t ruin your future for temporary thrills.”

That said.

Before Wen Jiu could nod, Liu Xiao swiftly left using Sword Control, seemingly in great hurry.

Heading to.

Exactly to the Corpse Remains Death Land.

Once Liu Xiao left, Wang Nian hastily urged Wen Jiu to try the soup, ”Quick, try it, your sister-in-law made it especially for you.”

”Thank you, Brother Wang, and your sister-in-law too.”

Wen Jiu quickly expressed his gratitude.

Yet his thoughts were all occupied with the situation in the Corpse Remains Death Land.

Because Wang Nian told him yesterday that besides him, all the Corpse Buriers had been carefully questioned again.

Now Liu Xiao went there in such haste.

What’s going on?

Suddenly.

Wang Nian’s words broke Wen Jiu’s train of thought, ”Younger Brother Wen, do you have enough Talisman Paper?”

”Enough, plenty.”

Wen Jiu quickly nodded.

Helplessly smiling.

Because Wang Nian had directly purchased one hundred sheets for him yesterday.

...

In the blink of an eye, a few days passed.

That night.

After the Soul-Seizing Talisman experiences reached thirty-five, following one hundred and seventy-five consecutive failures, Wen Jiu finally succeeded in drawing his first Tier-Entering Soul-Seizing Talisman.

Although it was just the most basic Tier One Lower Grade Soul-Seizing Talisman, challenging even for killing a Qi Cultivation Second Layer, for Wen Jiu, it was indeed a delightful surprise.

Because Wang Nian once said, the most talented Tier One Talisman Master at Feixian Peak also took five years.

But he.

In merely seven days, he accomplished what others took five or ten years to achieve.

Next, Wen Jiu drew five more consecutively.

Four failed.

One succeeded.

A success rate of twenty percent isn’t high, but during the daily settlement, one successful Tier-Entering Soul-Seizing Talisman grants 5 points of experience.

Currently, the Soul-Seizing Talisman experience already amounts to forty, in other words, he just needs to succeed in drawing thirty-two more to achieve mastery.

Once mastered, the success rate will surely increase significantly.

The quality of the Soul-Seizing Talismans will inevitably improve as well.

At that time.

He will have new means.

In confrontations, if someone intends to capture the king first, he could directly unleash ten or eight Soul-Seizing Talismans in response.

What about Li Ye?

What about Qi Cultivation Third Layer?

No chance of survival.

Even against a Steward, he wouldn’t fear!

It’s merely about deploying more of them.

”However, the fact that I can draw Soul-Seizing Talismans mustn’t get out, becoming a Tier-Entering Talisman Master so soon isn’t necessarily a good thing.” While showcasing is fine, over-exposure may backfire.

After thoughtful consideration, Wen Jiu decided to keep it under wraps.

As for the Talisman Paper.

Wen Jiu decided to continue borrowing.

But there’s no need to borrow as much, largely relying on borrowing Spirit Stones to create a false appearance as the main strategy, and once the Black Corpse progresses to the upper realm and matters regarding the Corpse Remains Death Land settles down, then he will showcase his achievement of becoming a Tier-One Yin Talisman Master to Wang Nian and Mu Canglong.

During this period, he aimed to enhance his experience further.

Exhibit three.

Conceal seven.
