The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse

“Damn, these wraiths are annoying,” Klaus said as he ducked low, evading a sweeping strike from a Nirvana stage Wraith.

Behind him, 25 other Wraiths had lunged at him.

Klaus wasn’t overwhelmed or pushed back. He was just too strong and powerful to be suppressed by a bunch of Wraiths.

However, while he was strong, the Wraiths weren’t rainbows and sunshines either. They were monsters, and Klaus, who had already sensed their danger, was doing his best not to let them touch him.

“These wraiths are different. They can dodge and even retreat at will,” Hanna said, watching as three wraiths lunged at her. She had already killed three out of the ten she was facing.

However, despite her win, she seemed hesitant to let them approach her.

“Don’t let them touch you. They have acidic hands that burn like hell,” Klaus said, grabbing the bony hands of a wraith, acid dripping from its palm.

“And they are much more poisonous too.” The moment Klaus grabbed its hands, the wraith struck with the other, aiming for Klaus’s face.

“No, you don’t.” Klaus formed chains made from void energy and latched them onto the wraith’s hands. Then a spear formed and went through its chest.

“This is fascinating. The moment they die, some of their energy is absorbed into the Void Vortex.” Klaus noticed a subtle change that only he seemed to have figured out.

The Wraiths weren’t dying like the earlier ones they had killed. These ones were much denser and very strange in appearance. It was almost as if they were humans rather than wraiths.

However, their kills were still being regarded as wraiths, so they could only go with that.

After a couple of minutes, Klaus sensed he had reached the High Affinity Void Law stage based on the message he had received.

He told Icon to stop showing messages about his kills and only register changes, like when he leveled up or when something other than killing happened.

Just now, he received a couple of messages. However, with a few more wraiths left to kill, he could only wait till the battle came to an end.

Thankfully, the battle did end a couple of minutes later. He used the Void Energy to finish off all 32 Wraiths he had faced.

In the end, his wives had finally seen what it felt like to face beings that made no logical sense. Klaus sneakily allowed them to experience this battle firsthand because he had plans for them after they left the void region.

“That was intense,” Vida said, sweat forming on her forehead. Hanna and Kathy nodded to her words. They were Nirvana stage warriors themselves, so facing ten Nirvana stage warriors wasn’t easy.

Thankfully, they managed it.

“It is only going to grow even more intense, so prepare for good and harrowing battles.” The ladies nodded with a sigh. They were, after all, there to protect their man, so fighting harrowing monsters was only right for them.

“Let’s move close to the Vortex.”

After a few seconds, Klaus and his wives were only 20 meters away from the Vortex. Of course, they would love to move closer, but it seemed there was something blocking them.

At that moment, a message appeared before Klaus’s vision.

⟪You have discovered the Void Vortex⟫

⟪Void Vortex: A vortex formed from the purest form of Void energy. To cross it, one must increase their understanding of the Void Law. Forcefully trying to pass through will result in Void annihilation.⟫

⟪Requirement: Enhance Void Law Affinity⟫

“Looks like we will be here for a while,” Klaus said to his ladies, who were already aware of what had happened.

They couldn’t move forward unless they met a certain requirement.

“To get close and eventually move through it, we must reach the Enhanced Affinity stage, but also increase our understanding. This means we have to cultivate like immortals.

The energy in the vortex is enough to get us there, and the Void Law is also visible. The only thing left is how much we can comprehend the void and advance beyond it.”

“Isn’t this like merely absorbing the void energy to level up?” Hanna asked, already feeling the pure void energy entering her body.

Kathy smiled and shook her head.

“That is indeed true. However, to be able to get the best out of the void and be able to stand out when Void warriors meet, you must understand the true Void law.

What we have been doing so far is merely increasing how much Void Energy we can harness. Of course, it is good to have this much control over void energy.

However, look at Klaus, thanks to his big brain, he can now use a passive skill like an active skill.”

Klaus grinned and responded, “Actually, thanks to my big brain, I have learned a void technique called Void Manipulation.”

Kathy, who had once reached the Perfect Void affinity stage before she died, smiled weakly. “You see, he had already learned a skill.

In other words, he had already created a void-type skill, meaning his understanding is advancing alongside his void affinity comprehension.

So we have to level up and reach the next stage, which is the Enhance stage. However, we also have to do more with the void.

Trust me, I have lived it and know the only way to remain alive even against powerful foes is to know your way around the void.

It is vast and all-encompassing yet also dangerous. If you truly manage to expand your understanding, then adding that to your already High Affinity level, you will be more than ready to brave the universe without fear.”

Kathy smiled evilly and raised a finger before saying, “I, for one, have some people I want to kill. However, because it has been billions of years already, they will now be more powerful than ever. So learning about the void and mastering it is the path forward for me.

I don’t know about you ladies, though.”

Vida and Hanna nodded to her words. “We also want to grow stronger.”

“Good. Then follow my lead and let’s get started. We both know keeping up with him from here onwards will be impossible, so let’s do our own thing.”

The three ladies gave Klaus the look before turning to face their own cultivation.

Klaus smiled and decided to review his new active ability that he had learned after manipulating the void in killing all 32 Nirvana stage Wraiths.

⟪Void Manipulation⟫

⟪Rank: Unranked (Level up your mastery to Rank it)⟫

⟪Mastery Level: F⟫

⟪Description:

↠ You have shown a remarkable understanding of the void, allowing you to shape it into weapons.

↠ Gain more understanding of the void law to unlock hidden abilities.

↠ Every time you level up your skill, a new ability is unlocked or an unlocked ability is upgraded.⟫

Klaus didn’t get a boost on his [Void Heart Ex] passive skill after reaching High Affinity stage. However, he had learned an active one, making him very happy.

“A good way to start my domination, I guess.” Klaus turned and looked at his wives, who had already started their cultivation.

“Looks like I, too, have to get closer to the vortex and toss the crystal in. This means time to cultivate.” Klaus sat in lotus posture; however, his ass didn’t touch the ground. He was merely hovering a few inches off the ground.

He checked the progress and saw he had a long way to go.

⟪Current Void Fragments: [56/2199]⟫

Soon, days passed. And then weeks and before Klaus knew it, 4 months had passed since they began cultivating and comprehending the law.

But he had yet to reach the next stage.
