I Became the Villainess, But My Beast Husbands Can Hear My Mind?!

However, that excuse didn’t really hold, since Cyrus handled the thin knife perfectly. Not only did Azul struggle with cutting, he also made a mistake by pouring too much salt into the bone broth, forcing Roxanna to throw away the water and boil the bones again.

With every mistake, Azul’s shoulders sank lower. ”Maybe I shouldn’t be helping you,” he said sadly. ”I’m just making a mess.”

No matter how badly Roxanna wanted to complete the side mission and motivate Aelin to work harder on Calen’s recovery, she didn’t want to hurt her other husband’s feelings.

”It’s alright.” She gently took the knife from Azul’s hand and held it firmly. ”There’s always a first time in life. When I first learned to cook, I made mistakes all the time too.”

Roxanna sighed, ”My caretakers used to scold me a lot whenever I made a mess in the kitchen.” She added, ”They even hit my hands with a cane because I accidentally poured too much salt into the soup.”

Azul, who had been upset with himself just moments ago, now felt anger rising inside him. ”Those bastards...”

”Ah, it’s alright, it’s alright.” Roxanna rubbed the back of his hand to calm him down. ”It’s all in the past anyway. My point is, learning something truly requires patience, and I won’t get angry just because you make a mistake.

Roxanna was often punished whenever she made mistakes back then, whether by her caretakers or by her ex-husband. And if she was being honest with herself, those punishments never truly taught her anything.

They only left fear behind. Fear of doing things wrong, fear of trying something new, and even fear of stepping outside what felt ”safe.”

She had become so afraid of mistakes that even the simplest new task could make her hesitate. Looking back, she carried many regrets, not because she failed, but because she had been too scared to even try.

That was why Roxanna made a silent promise to herself that she would never let that same fear grow inside her husbands or her future children.

In this family, mistakes were not crimes because they were simply part of learning. If something went wrong, they would fix it together without shouting.

”Here...” Roxanna’s voice softened. ”Let me guide you.”

She gently took Azul’s hand, pulling him a little closer. The earlier frustration in his eyes faded, replaced by surprise.

Roxanna placed the knife back into his grip. ”Hold it like this.”

Her hand rested lightly over his, then slowly, she guided his movement. ”Not too fast.”

The blade slid through the carrot, and this time, the slices were neater and more perfect. No longer weighed down by the fear of making mistakes, Azul gradually became calmer and was soon able to cut the carrot by himself.

”See? It’s easy,” Roxanna said with a smile. ”Azul did a great job. You can continue cutting the vegetables.”

Azul nodded, unable to stop a small smile after hearing Roxanna’s praise. He hadn’t expected that being complimented by his wife would make him feel so motivated.

The moment the water in the pot began to boil, Roxanna added a bit of seasoning, since the bone broth itself already had a rich, savory taste. She then took out the bones and added the vegetables they had cut earlier.

”Oh, you’re going to throw away the bones?” Azul asked just before Roxanna tossed them outside.

Roxanna nodded. ”Yes. We only need the broth, and the bones won’t taste good if eaten. Why?”

Azul slowly glanced to the side and spoke in a small voice. ”No, it’s just... Calen likes eating bones.”

He looked awkward, perhaps worried that Roxanna would mock him for caring too much about Calen. But instead of teasing him, Roxanna felt something warm in her chest.

[The Evil Roxanna truly wasted a bunch of wonderful husbands,] she thought. [Not only are they always kind to me, they also care deeply for one another!]

They had genuinely begun to act like sworn brothers, even if they still argued now and then over their wife’s attention.

”These bones won’t taste good if eaten,” Roxanna explained softly. ”But if Calen wakes up today, we can roast some bones. We just need to keep the right ones, like the knuckle bones and marrow bones. Can you separate them now?”

Azul nodded quickly and began sorting through the pile, selecting the bones that still had a bit of meat around them.

Even though they didn’t know whether Calen would wake up today or tomorrow, at least they were already preparing his favorite food for when he did.

After that, the three of them cooked the five dishes together, following Roxanna’s instructions. The entire process was exhausting, but when the meals were finally done, they froze for a while, because the sight before them was worth every bit of effort.

”Luckily, we brought clay plates from the Golden Tribe, so we can serve the food properly,” Roxanna said as she wiped the sweat from her forehead.

”Let me bring the dishes to the living room,” Cyrus said, carrying the plates out of the kitchen while Azul stayed behind to clean up the mess.

”We can wash the pots and cooking tools with soapberry,” Roxanna told Azul. ”It’ll clean them better.”

Azul nodded. ”I think I managed to collect a lot of soapberries before.”

He turned toward the refrigerator and took out the soapberries from it. Seeing that, Roxanna couldn’t help but think that her husband truly looked like a modern man in a primitive costume as he stood beside the refrigerator.

And as she had always thought, if this were a modern world, Azul would surely be a successful model. He could probably make countless women from all ages buy that refrigerator model simply by standing next to it.

Roxanna shook her head slightly. Sometimes, she wondered why she still wasn’t used to her husbands’ handsomeness. Her heart would even beat faster whenever she caught them doing something attractive.

[You haven’t been here that long, Host,] the system chimed in. [It’s perfectly normal to still act like a newlywed.]
