I Became the Villainess, But My Beast Husbands Can Hear My Mind?!

”It’s not like we can’t live together just because a few people argue,” Cyrus said calmly. ”After all, people who live together are bound to fight once or twice. That’s normal.”

”Besides, even if they don’t live in the same hut, they’re still in the same settlement,” he continued, letting out a tired sigh. ”You can’t really stop them from arguing. I think it’s just their nature.”

Roxanna held onto Cyrus’s arm and asked softly, ”So... I didn’t make the wrong decision by asking you all to live with me?”

”What’s wrong with that?” Cyrus replied. His eyes drifted toward Zeir and Azul, who were busy tying pieces of wood together in the bathroom with root fibers.

It could be said that right now, it was just the two of them in the hut, and no one would disturb them, at least for a few minutes.

”I don’t know... I just thought that maybe you wouldn’t be happy with my decision,” Roxanna said in a small voice. ”That’s why I’m trying to give you a few choices.”

Cyrus slowly moved toward the kitchen, a spot that couldn’t be seen by Azul and Zeir. ”I don’t know about the others, but I choose to stay here with you. That way, I can protect you at night because... sometimes, wild beasts wander into the settlement.”

Cyrus’s voice sounded soft and charismatic. It felt like her ears were being brushed by a gentle feather. Because of that, she could only focus on him for now.

”What kind of wild beasts?” Roxanna asked, a little worried. ”Like tigers?”

”Sometimes. But there are also small demon beasts, and those kinds of creatures can easily slip past the warriors’ watch.” Cyrus lowered his voice, as if trying to scare her a little, but instead, Roxanna felt her heart race for a different reason. His voice only became more attractive.

”But I’m sure you’ll be fine since you have a very strong healing ability. That’s why, even if you want to stay here alone, it would be—”

”Don’t leave me alone!” Roxanna stepped closer to him, almost like she wanted to cling to his arm. ”I-I can’t fight! At least not yet.”

She knew she had to learn how to fight someday because this world was too dangerous for someone like her. But right now, the thought of demon beasts suddenly appearing at her door terrified her.

[What if it was a demon spider? Or even a demon bat?!]

She might be able to heal quickly, but being torn apart by demon beasts would definitely feel different from being stabbed by a knife.

”I won’t leave you alone,” Cyrus said, gently patting her head. ”I’ll stay here, even if your other husbands leave.”

”They... they won’t,” Roxanna said quietly. ”At least, I hope so. I promised them I would change into a better person.”

”That’s true, but the future isn’t ours to predict.” Cyrus took her hand and held it tightly as he looked at her with determination. ”But I swear on my name and my blood that I won’t leave you.”

He didn’t look like he was joking at all, as if that vow were a real chain binding him to Roxanna.

But how could that be possible?

People often swore on their own names or even on the name of a god, yet they still broke those vows.

Because of that, Roxanna decided not to take Cyrus’s words too seriously.

”In the bird clan, we actually seal vows with a kiss,” Cyrus suddenly said.

Roxanna narrowed her eyes. [That sounds kind of suspicious. Is that really true, or is he just flirting?]

Honestly, she didn’t know because there were still so many things she didn’t understand about this world.

”Why does the bird clan do that?” she asked.

”We’re born to be loyal to our mates,” Cyrus explained. ”Once we swear a vow to our spouse, we can’t break it. If we do... we die.”

Roxanna felt even more confused because Cyrus looked so serious. But for some reason, she still thought he might just be flirting.

But a kiss wouldn’t hurt, right? She even had already mated with Azul last night.

”Then...” she said shyly, ”I can kiss you.”

[Maybe just on the cheek,] she thought. [Kissing two men on the lips in two days feels a bit too much.]

But Cyrus’s next words made Roxanna’s face turn red. ”But it has to be on the lips,” he said. ”It can’t be anywhere else.”

Roxanna slowly turned her face away, feeling embarrassed, especially since Cyrus kept looking at her with those amber eyes.

His red hair looked like living flames, making him stand out clearly even in the dark room.

[Why is he so handsome too?] Roxanna felt heat rush to her face. [And... he has such a nice voice. I could listen to him talk all day.]

Even though his voice was gentle, it was also deep and attractive. Roxanna would be lying if she said it didn’t turn her on.

If they were in the modern world, Cyrus could probably work as an audiobook narrator for monster romance novels.

”A-Alright then,” Roxanna stammered. ”Y-You can kiss me.”

The moment she said that, Cyrus lifted her up and let her sit on his arm. She let out a small yelp but quickly covered her mouth, not wanting to draw the others’ attention.

”Why did you lift me?” she asked softly.

”So you can kiss me more easily.” Cyrus smiled, and for some reason, Roxanna finally realized that his personality wasn’t as calm as he always appeared.

Cyrus was a professional teaser.

”In the bird clan, the one who moves first to kiss is the female, including when sealing a vow,” he said, lowering his voice once he noticed Roxanna’s flusthered reaction. ”And since you’re my mate now, you can follow that tradition too.”

Roxanna’s face burned hot, and her head felt a little dizzy as Cyrus leaned closer. ”Hurry,” he whispered. ”If you wait too long, the others might come back before you kiss me.”
