Chapter 1287: Chapter 1288: Be My Secretary

”President Xu, this guy just came to West City a month ago, currently working for the Qiao Corporation. I heard not long ago he had a conflict with Qin Biao from Qin Corporation, and soon after, the Qin Corporation collapsed,” Director Zhou said warily.

”Are you sure it’s not just a coincidence?” Xu Zhiruo’s brows slightly furrowed.

”I can’t say for certain, there’s too little information from above,” Director Zhou shook his head.

”Alright, I understand. Lin Chen cannot stay, and when the time comes, I hope you can assist us,” Xu Zhiruo said.

”President Xu, you know Lin Chen’s background is unclear. If I were to act recklessly, it might bring trouble,” Director Zhou said, somewhat apprehensive.

”I won’t make things difficult for you. However, if Lin Chen breaks the law, I just hope you will enforce the law impartially,” Xu Zhiruo said with a smile.

Director Zhou nodded, ”Don’t worry, if Lin Chen breaks the law, I will certainly enforce the law impartially without favoritism.”

Hearing Director Zhou’s words, Xu Zhiruo was finally satisfied and nodded, ”That’s for the best.”

...

In the morning, Lin Chen didn’t have much to do, played some mobile games, and glanced at the beautiful legs of the office girls through the window, and soon it was midday.

Ai Ying drove Lin Chen to meet the manager of the recruitment department at Xingchen Company.

The car stopped at the suburban Xu family clubhouse. After getting out, Lin Chen snorted coldly, ”This guy invites us to this place for business talks, truly not a good person.”

”Lin Chen, Xingchen Group’s senior staff wouldn’t do such disgraceful things, right?” Ai Ying asked with some concern.

Lin Chen smiled faintly, ”It’s hard to say. I heard Xingchen Group’s business is extensive, and it has tens of thousands of employees. It’s not strange for a few bad apples to appear. But I’m here, you can rest assured.”

The two walked into the clubhouse. This place was where West City’s rich heirs come hunting for flirtations. The first floor is a restaurant, and the second floor is lodging.

As soon as they walked into the hall, a hostess in a cheongsam quickly approached them, ”Sir, Miss, do you have a reservation?”

”We’ve been invited by Manager Hu from Xingchen Group,” Ai Ying said to the hostess.

”Oh, then please follow me,” the hostess smiled and led them to a private room.

This private room was lavishly decorated with an expensive European carpet on the floor and a replica Van Gogh painting on the wall. The huge chandelier cast warm light, together with candles and red wine, making the ambiance less like a business meeting and more like a romantic rendezvous.

”Manager Hu, your guests have arrived,” said the waitress with a smile.

”Alright, I know. You can leave,” Hu Chen waved to the waitress.

Then, Hu Chen’s gaze stayed fixated on Ai Ying, his lecherous eyes intensely locked on Ai Ying’s tempting chest, with a hint of greed flashing in his eyes.

This man was Hu Chen, the manager of Xingchen Group’s West City recruitment department.

From Hu Chen’s gaze, Lin Chen could tell he was no good, his lecherous look almost swallowing Ai Ying.

Hu Chen wore a greedy smile and said to the two bodyguards behind him, ”I’m going to discuss business with Miss Ai, you two go out first.”

”Yes.” The two bodyguards glanced at Ai Ying and exchanged glances with each other.

Both secretly sighed, another beautiful flower was about to be spoiled by a swine.

”President Hu, I’m Ai Ying, the manager of the sales department at Qiao Corporation. Previously, we arranged to discuss the contract,” Ai Ying said politely to Hu Chen.

”Business can be discussed, but we must fill our stomachs first. Come, come, sit next to me, let’s eat first.”

Hu Chen glanced at Lin Chen beside Ai Ying, his brows furrowed, his face showing some displeasure.

”President Ai, who is this gentleman?”

”This is the vice president of our company’s sales department, named Lin Chen,” Ai Ying introduced.

”Lin Chen, haha, coincidentally shares a name with our chairman. But compared to our chairman, you’re far behind, come sit with us.” Hu Chen joked, then ignored Lin Chen, focusing on Ai Ying instead.

”Miss Ai, I’m treating today. Order whatever you like,” Hu Chen said generously.

”Manager Hu is too kind, we should follow the host,” Ai Ying said politely.

Hu Chen nodded and said to the nearby waitress, ”Bring out all your special dishes, and also a bottle of Louis XIII.”

Lin Chen smacked his lips upon hearing this, this guy was indeed quite extravagant. Just that bottle of Louis XIII cost seventy to eighty thousand, adding up the dishes would probably be over a hundred thousand.

However, Lin Chen knew that someone would definitely foot the bill. Hu Chen wouldn’t pay out of his pocket.

”Miss Ai, you must drink more of this red wine. It’s a famous French wine, and red wine is good for the skin, you should drink more.”

”French wine must be good,” Lin Chen intercepted before Ai Ying could respond, poured a glass of wine and drank it in one go.

”Wow, high-class wine does taste great. Let’s have another,” he said, pouring himself another glass and drinking again.

Ai Ying, nearby, wished she could kick Lin Chen a few times. Louis XIII wine is meant to be sipped slowly, drinking quickly can easily lead to intoxication.

This guy claimed he’d protect me, but a few glasses down and he’d be done.

Ai Ying glanced at Hu Chen, leering at her, and somewhat regretted coming with Lin Chen.

Several plates of dishes were brought out, and Lin Chen, not holding back, started eating voraciously as if he hadn’t eaten for days.

Watching Lin Chen’s unsavory eating manner, Hu Chen sneered.

Now, he’d love for Lin Chen to get drunk; that way, he could do as he pleased.

”President Lin has a great capacity for wine, let me toast to you,” Hu Chen said, pouring himself a glass.

He took a small sip, but Lin Chen drank his glass nearly in one go, wiping his mouth afterward with satisfaction, ”Hmm, this wine is really good.”

”If it’s good, have more,” Hu Chen said with a beaming smile.

Nearby, Ai Ying was anxious but had no recourse.

Hu Chen smiled at Ai Ying, ”President Ai, Qiao Corporation is a small company, isn’t it? How about coming to our Xingchen Group as my secretary, with a monthly salary of fifty thousand, and I’ll also give you a villa, how’s that?”

”Oh my!” Lin Chen nearly spat out his wine upon hearing that.

Since when did Xingchen Group offer such perks?

Ai Ying, however, shook her head, ”President Hu, thank you for your generous offer. I’m very happy working at Qiao Corporation and have no intention of changing jobs.”

”President Ai, you are so young, beautiful, and talented. Following me will lead to endless benefits. Such opportunities do not come freely,” Hu Chen said, his pudgy hand restlessly reaching for Ai Ying’s leg.

Feeling the touch on her leg, Ai Ying’s face changed, and she quickly moved her leg away, her expression turning extremely tense.

”President Hu, your secretary must be very busy, having to serve you at the office by day and in bed by night. Isn’t it too stingy with such meager pay?” Lin Chen said mockingly as he picked up a piece of meat and put it in his mouth.
