Chapter 50: Chapter 050: Call the Parents

Zhao Xiaowen stood up, her hand pressing against Lin Chen’s sturdy chest, and with a forceful push, Lin Chen lay on the bed, facing upwards.

His buttons were being undone one by one by Zhao Xiaowen’s delicate hands, causing Lin Chen’s heartbeat to race even more fiercely.

”No, I can’t do this to Xiaowen...” As his clothes came undone, Lin Chen, on the contrary, calmed down.

Just as he was about to stop Zhao Xiaowen’s actions, loud footsteps suddenly came from the doorway.

”Bang!”

The door was kicked open, and a female officer charged in.

”Nobody move, police raid!” The female officer glanced coldly at the two of them and pulled out handcuffs to cuff Lin Chen.

But with a swift movement, Lin Chen easily dodged the policewoman’s attempt to capture him.

Zhao Xiaowen had just been getting into the mood, but it was ruined by the sudden appearance of the female officer, infuriating her, ”On what grounds are you arresting us? We are boyfriend and girlfriend.”

”Boyfriend and girlfriend?” Qin Lan glanced at the two of them.

”How can you prove you’re boyfriend and girlfriend?” Qin Lan sneered.

She had encountered such tricks many times before, but she had always easily exposed them.

”His name is Lin Chen, eighteen years old, from Taohua Village, and a senior at DY High School,” Zhao Xiaowen effortlessly recounted Lin Chen’s information.

Qin Lan checked the information on her police terminal, and indeed everything matched up.

”Instead of studying well at such a young age, you’re both contemplating these indecent matters. Get dressed and come to the station with me; your parents can come collect you,” Qin Lan stated after verifying their identities.

Upon hearing Qin Lan mention calling their parents, Lin Chen frowned slightly when suddenly, a policeman rushed in flustered, ”Captain Qin, a fugitive has been found on the third floor, he has taken a hostage, and we’ve got him surrounded.”

”What?” At the officer’s report, Qin Lan could no longer concern herself with the two, and she followed the officer outside, running.

The abrupt incident threw the entire hotel into disarray, with almost all the officers rushing to the third floor.

Lin Chen and Zhao Xiaowen took advantage of the chaos to leave the hotel and reached the corner of the street, where both let out a sigh of relief.

Looking at each other, they both burst into laughter involuntarily; neither of them had expected their first time renting a room to be so embarrassing.

Lin Chen inadvertently looked up and his gaze suddenly sharpened.

Across the street on a rooftop, he saw a person wielding a crossbow aiming at the hotel opposite.

The person was very well hidden behind curtains, and without Lin Chen’s X-ray vision, it would have been impossible to spot him.

Although a crossbow isn’t very powerful, the distance between the two buildings was less than ten meters, enough for the weapon to be lethal.

”Xiaowen, wait for me by the police car. I have something to take care of and will be right back,” Lin Chen said, quickly heading back to the hotel.

”This guy, we finally get away and now he’s running back into the net,” Zhao Xiaowen muttered, stamping her foot in irritation.

Lin Chen raced up to the third floor, where the hotel was now cordoned off by police.

Seeing Lin Chen trying to go upstairs, a policeman blocked him, ”The police are carrying out an operation upstairs, you can’t go up.”

”I need to see Captain Qin to report important information about the case,” Lin Chen said, anxiously.

”Important information?” The plump policeman was taken aback.

”Yes, I’m an informant for Officer Qin, and it’s urgent,” Lin Chen hastily bluffed, worried the plump policeman wouldn’t let him through.

After a moment’s consideration, the plump policeman said, ”Then go on up.”

As the plump officer gave the go-ahead, Lin Chen dashed up to the third floor.

Watching the fleeting figure disappear like lightning, the plump officer rubbed his eyes, ”That kid’s really fast.”

When Lin Chen arrived on the third floor, he saw that the doorway of one room was already filled with police officers.

Lin Chen pushed through the crowd and saw Qin Lan confronting the suspect.

”You’re already surrounded, surrender is your only choice,” Qin Lan said coldly.

The criminal’s face showed no panic, instead he sneered, ”Little cop, you think you can catch me? You’re not qualified.”

Lin Chen looked across to the building opposite and saw someone in a duckbill hat with a crossbow already aiming at Qin Lan.

”Damn it,” Lin Chen had a feeling that if Qin Lan made a move, the archer opposite would shoot an arrow straight into Qin Lan’s heart.

Just then, a sudden change occurred, the suspect suddenly pushed the hostage and rushed to the window.

”Stop, don’t run.” Qin Lan was about to give chase when suddenly Lin Chen rushed over and tackled her to the ground.

Almost simultaneously, the window shattered, and an arrow whizzed past both of them.

The criminal had already taken advantage of the chaos to jump out of the window onto a truck loaded with sand and gravel and escaped.

”What are you doing?” Qin Lan got up and was furious.

Lin Chen pointed at the broken glass, ”If I hadn’t saved you, you would have been hit by that arrow by now.”

Qin Lan glanced at the shattered glass, feeling a shock in her heart. She looked at Lin Chen with gratitude and shouted to the officers at her side, ”What are you staring at, go chase him, seal off the building across the way!”

Lin Chen dusted himself off and went downstairs, seeing Zhao Xiaowen anxiously waiting at the door.

”What happened?” Zhao Xiaowen had just seen a bunch of police rushing out and was worried about Lin Chen.

”It’s nothing, let’s go.” Lin Chen and Zhao Xiaowen caught a cab and left the inn.

It was nearly midnight by the time Lin Chen got Zhao Xiaowen home. In the afternoon, Liu Yan had placed an order with Lin Chen for ten bottles of weight loss drugs.

Today, when Liu Yan posted her photo to her WeChat moments, her social circle blew up with excitement.

At first, some people doubted whether Liu Yan’s photo was Photoshopped, but as soon as she posted a video, it immediately shut those people up.

Then, her friends started frantically asking Liu Yan what weight loss drug she was using.

The friends in Liu Yan’s social circle were all wealthy housewives dying for a slender figure, buying a bag cost them millions, so a hundred thousand yuan was nothing to them. In just one evening, Liu Yan brought Lin Chen more than thirty orders.

Lin Chen used the remaining drugs to make forty bottles of weight loss drugs, and before, Lin Chen could never have imagined that these forty small bottles were worth four million yuan.

The next morning, the construction team arrived in the village, and the sight of cranes and bulldozers starting work caused a great stir in the village.

Taohua Village had never been this lively before, and many curious villagers gathered in the vicinity to watch the excitement.

”Lin Chen, this kid’s playing big this time, I heard he’s going to build a factory!”

”Yeah, I heard he even talked to the mayor about fixing the roads in our village.”

”It’s a pity, if only my son were half as good as Lin Chen.”

...

On the construction site, Lin Chen was looking at the blueprints, talking to a designer, ”This area, I want this area to be the planting zone, everything else can be done according to Director Xue’s instructions.”

The engineer nodded and went down to arrange the work.

Xue Ying, curious, asked, ”Lin Chen, why are you growing vegetables?”

Lin Chen smiled, ”I’ve opened a restaurant, so I can produce and sell my own food.”

”What, you opened a restaurant? Where did you hire the chef from?” Xue Ying asked curiously.

Lin Chen scratched his head, ”The chef is me!”

”What, you’re the chef? Are the dishes at your restaurant even edible?” Xue Ying said, somewhat worriedly.
