Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 990: Chapter 96: Exploration 2

Gao Gong’s first reaction upon facing the ’Canned Monster’ was, ”Whoa, isn’t this the doing of those Supreme Beings?!”

Like the ’Memory Mother,’ invading the Mechanical Country of Level 7 Civilization through the Cyber Test Field.

If that’s really the case, as the top fighter of the Purple Giant Star and a loyal follower of Ancient Mechanical Civilization, Gao would definitely run away at the first opportunity!

He really didn’t want to mess with a monster on the same level as the ’Memory Mother.’

But Gao Gong quickly realized something wasn’t right.

If it were really such a monster, there’s no reason why it wouldn’t be known. Before the Purple Giant Star left, it would surely have cleaned up.

Moreover, those Supreme Beings hiding in the shadows would also worry about whether Ancient Mechanical Civilization would trace back to find this group of sinister creeps.

Excluding that possibility, the other becomes the biggest one—

This Cyber Test Field experiment subject, due to some special reason, wasn’t taken away by the Planet Host, secretly lurking in the Arctic region of this planet.

Gao Gong had a sudden insight, interrupting the senior leaders’ rescue plan discussion and turned to Dr. Yuu, asking:

”I remember you said, the ’Zombie Breathing Skill’ targets different Human Body Systems, without a fixed sequence?”

Dr. Yuu paused, then replied, ”That’s correct.”

”But the ’Human Body System’ revival of zombies follows a fixed sequence, starting with the Neural System, Digestive System, Circulatory System, Endocrine System, Respiratory System, Sports System, Reproductive System, Urogenital System. And every zombie is like this. Why?”

Dr. Yuu pondered for a moment:

”Our laboratory has a hypothesis that the zombies on this planet weren’t caused by contagion, but were mass-produced by the Planet Factory, so this sequence of Human Body Systems was the initial setting by the Planet Factory.”

”But the Planet Host has already left, why do these zombies retain such settings?”

”Perhaps we didn’t dissect enough samples. No, the sample size is considerable, caught specifically from different regions. Could it be natural selection of biological evolution? No, that’s wrong, zombies aren’t natural creatures; they’re mutant products. The instability of gene mutation is their evolutionary direction...”

As Dr. Yuu spoke, he began to get confused in the intense discussion among several other biologists.

Gao Gong listened quietly, muttering to himself.

”What if some entity manipulated the evolution of billions of zombies, like a variant product of some Primordial Virus.”

”If it’s a virus, it’s better to let players take the risk. This thing is too counterproductive to organisms, but it’s just right for the 4th Celestial Calamity. To join an ’Advanced Interstellar Camp,’ shouldn’t players do some high-difficulty tasks.”

...

On the second day, Mountain City Ruins had never been so lively. Besides local players, a large number of foreign players swarmed in, and the most noticeable were the City Lords from seventeen other player cities, arriving in coalition.

Volcano City’s Gravity Volcano, Saint Lawrence City’s Sea Wave, Fish City’s Birds and Fish, Corpse Armor City’s Jia Hei, Water City’s Mermaid, Sky City’s Old Monster Miyazaki, Village-in-the-City City’s Alien Countryfolk, Weapon City’s Advanced Weapons, Black Island City’s All-Purpose Little Black, Gun City’s Corpse-Slaying General, Death City’s Death Cultist, Friends Circle City’s Brother Shuiqun, Feather City’s Luan Xiaoyu, Little Fairy City’s Chaotic World Little Immortal, Motorcycle Queen City’s Queen of Broken Hands, Dawn City’s First Brilliance, Zombie City’s Desperate

These top players from the Immortal Energy Star are forward-thinking people. Almost immediately after the first wave of corpse tide passed in Mountain City, they personally arrived.

Just the way they traveled was quite eye-catching—some driving tractors, others on electric scooters, and the bizarre ones sitting on zombie-pulled carts or carriages, with some even riding zombies.

It can only be said, although the whole planet has only one kind of monster, these players have mastered the art of zombie manipulation.

For those too far, they could only use the big move—suicide and return city method, manually teleporting to selectable player cities. Anyway, players on the Immortal Energy Star could refine attribute points, not really caring much about levels and equipment.

The Rakish Knight could prevent the ’Mountain City Ruins’ from becoming a respawn point for other players, as a City Lord privilege, but under pressure from other player City Lords, he compromised.

So, despite being a new city, Mountain City Ruins now was bustling with people. Many players simply set up stalls along the road when they saw the crowd—selling zombie eyeballs, zombie arms, zombie bones, zombie droppings, zombie intestines, zombie bait, zombie activity areas, locations of zombie nests, basically covering zombies’ clothing, food, shelter, transport, eating, drinking, excreting, and their industrious lives.

”With the style of this planet, it’s really unplayable for those who aren’t heavy-taste players.”

Baozi strolled along the street, while teasing.

Beside him was pp leader, looking pale and about to puke.

”Yo, there’s even zombie meat burgers on sale here, want one?”

pp leader couldn’t hold back anymore and retched.

A moment later, he raised his middle finger fiercely at Baozi.

”If you want to walk around, do it yourself. Why bring me along? I don’t like shopping with you.”

”It’s just too boring alone.”

”Then go find the ’Mechanical God Supreme,’ he’s certainly not afraid of gross things.”

Baozi sighed, ”But I’m worried he’ll start massacring; haven’t you noticed the look of players who completed ’Intelligent Mechanical Transformation’ when they see carbon-based creatures?”

”I wasn’t aware of that,” pp leader paused, speaking.

”That’s because most players in the camp are from the modification stream, installed mechanical plugins, so their feelings aren’t deep. If you put a Biological Hunter with them, you’ll immediately notice.”

pp leader’s expression changed, recalling some unpleasant past:

”Isn’t this similar to when I was implanted with a Virtual Personality?”

”Yes, it’s somewhat similar,” Baozi replied carelessly.

”Then it’s a disaster. Players in the camp who’ve completed Intelligent Mechanical Transformation are nearing 100,000. What if a fight breaks out? Should we report it to Boss G?”

”Report what,” Baozi stroked his chin, chuckling, ”I actually think this might be the gameplay of the next version—pvp, because fighting npcs alone is boring.”

”But don’t worry, there’s still planetary assaults, legion management, Mechanical Civilization rescue storylines coming, player civil war likely won’t happen soon.”

”Besides, have you noticed, mechanical stream players are too strong in this version, hence we’re on this zombie planet. I reckon, next wave, the focus will be on enhancing Evolution Stream players.”

Baozi was quite convinced of this.

He felt he had grasped some essence of game planners’ arrangements.

pp leader remained worried, but at that moment, they entered the City Lord’s Hall, so she could only hold back what she wanted to say.

Inside the City Lord’s Hall, eighteen City Lord players stared intensely at the two, if they weren’t players, they’d suspect these people were about to start a boss raid.

”You probably guessed we came to this planet with a main quest. I won’t waste time and directly share the quest with you.”
