Blacksmith of the Apocalypse

Chapter 1538. Rigging the Odds

He smirked. This was truly exhilarating. In addition to the power of the Earth Spirit Water coursing through his body, there was the tremendous inflow from his disciples. The cultivation, experiences, and accomplishments of anyone who learned his Silk River Cultivation Method were flooding his body and mind.

His divine consciousness, concentration, and comprehension were growing by leaps and bounds, allowing him to further keep the tremendous energy bloating his body under control. Yes, this was it. Even if he didnʼt get a chance to properly prepare for this, everything was going according to plan.

Roots were rapidly attacking the sect founder, but they were all eradicated by his domain. It seemed like the tree had realized what he was doing and was trying to do the same, but it was all in vain. Here and now, he would break through to become an Ancient, a Demi-God! There was nothing that could stop him!

As realizations in cultivation broke down walls in his mind, he was unable to surpass before; his aged body actually regained its youth. The wrinkled skin, like crumpled parchment, softened and tightened. He could feel it. His second rebirth. While his body reversed aging, his life span grew exponentially. He was passing the peak of the immortal realm, and once he was done, he would erase this place and travel to new shores.

Nothing would-

Clink!

The soft sound of metal clicking could be heard. It was so out of place in this space full of ravenous root tentacles that it almost tore through his perception. He felt a cool weight on his collar. At some point, he could determine that a necklace with a small pendant had appeared around his neck!?

“Who? How?!” the questions shot through his mind, but before he could determine any answers, there was a sudden piercing pain in his mind. His enlightenment was abruptly interrupted by dozens of voices.

“My butt is itchy!” “Iʼm horny.” “Iʼm hungry!” “Letʼs eat.” Letʼs fuck.” “Letʼs kill!” “Kill!?” “Kill!”

“No, sleep!” “I want to-” “Scratch!” “Eat!” “Feel warmth.” “Itʼs cold.” “Please, help!” “It hurts. “Letʼs hurt someone!” “Kill!” “Itchy!”

Incessant, random thoughts suddenly flooded his mind from this small prick, as if he was injected with heart demons. Why was this happening? he had long overcome the 7 Emotion tribulation! He cast them away when he stepped into the Dao Seeking realm.

“Urgh!” he coughed up some blood. His concentration faltered for just a moment, and he could feel his veins rupture in several places! Was this it? No, he couldnʼt die like this, he- had to find a young female monkey and- No! What were these pictures in his mind!?

Driving back the voices growing in noise, he focused on reigning back the current of power. For some reason, it felt easier?! The pain in his body lessened, too. Had his veins healed? How? Even if he regained control, healing veins should have taken days, maybe longer...

“It hurts!” “Heal!” “Destroy!” “Please let me out of here...” “I donʼt want this!” “I want this!” The voices became even stronger, drowning his own thoughts. Just what was happening? Was it the necklace? It had to be the necklace!

When his attention shifted to his necklace, he found the reason the energy became more manageable. This little thing was sucking up power at tremendous speed! What kind of cursed jewelry was this!? Instinctively, he raised he grabbed the pendant, and wanted to rip it off- His arm didnʼt move.

“One of us!” “ One of US!” “Suffer!” “Freeze!” “Fuck!” “Sleep!” “One of US!” “Mine!” “Mine” “Me!” “Me?” “Who is me?” “Where is us?” he almost threw up when the voices in his mind swelled in volume and power.

He started shaking. He couldnʼt control his own thoughts anymore. He was even losing control of his body! How was this- she would need a really nice pink butt, oh how great that would- happening?! He suddenly imagined the feeling of a piece of bloody meat in his hand. The squishy muscles and warm blood squelch under his grip...

“No!” he exclaimed indignantly, raising the strength in his hand. He circulated a portion of his power through his sea of consciousness to clear his mind. He was able to push back the voices invading his mind and regain control.

With all the power he could muster, he ripped on the thin chain. His eyes bulged- The thin string of metal didnʼt budge. Even though he never cultivated his body, how could it withstand the power of someone who had surpassed the peak of the immortal realm!?

Only now did he notice that his breakthrough was actually failing! The energy he had amassed, the strength of mind, his comprehension- The moment had passed! Pushed away by the voices. Sucked away by the necklace!?

“No! No! Get off!” he muttered as he hectically tried to take the necklace off, but it was stuck to his neck! It would not rip. It would release from his body! How could this be! How would he get a good nightʼs sleep? How would he ever find warmth? No, these were not his thoughts!

“What happened to the voices. They were...me? Me is the voices. No, I donʼt want this. This couldnʼt happen to me! Iʼm us. No, no Iʼm not. Iʼm horny! No! I was about to become- a father of many children-...”

The voices had fused with his thoughts as the power of the Earth Spirit Water waned, sucked into the terrifying necklace. Tears started flowing from the eyes of the immortal who had cast away earthly emotions, as his body and mind were assimilated into the Whimsical Curse and his thoughts became increasingly chaotic.

The domain surrounding the ancestor of the Silk River Sect vanished. His body was riddled with roots, ending his life before the Whimsical Curse did. A last act of mercy, the tree granted the immortal unwittingly.

When the body turned into a mummy, and life vanished from his eyes, the fine necklace with the small pendant slid off his neck and hit the ground with an almost gentle clank. It was a surprisingly calm end for such a turbulent battle. The history of the Silk River Sect had finally found its end at the hands of its own founder and a tiny treasure.

...

Seth watched it all, standing not far from the man sitting on the ground. He had come here to stop the man from whatever he was doing. Although the sphere of power that eradicated the roots was scary, Seth, trusting his armor, had taken the risk to put the necklace on the man.

To the blacksmithʼs surprise, he had stayed untouched by the power of the domain. This led him to believe it was perception-based. Another surprise was the effects of the Whimsical Curse. The pillar of power surrounding the man, who seemed on the verge of a breakthrough, had quickly lost its luster.

When he finally realized what the problem was, the influence and durability of the necklace was already too strong. Seth had not often gotten the chance to see the full course of symptoms when wearing the Whimsical curse. The man seemed to resist while becoming increasingly more confused.

Ultimately, he watched the domain vanish, as if the man accepted his fate and chose a quick death at the roots of the tree sapling. When he finally died as a mummy, which took uncomfortably long, the Curse of Binding was released, and the

With a lot of respect, Seth picked up the Whimsical Curse. It had become one of the few items he himself was afraid of, despite being its creator.

All aspects of the necklace had upgraded beyond belief, it even gained the domain ability of the sect ancestor...
