Blacksmith of the Apocalypse

Chapter 1230: Her soul, too?

“Did you get her soul, too?” Fin asked jokingly, looking at the hoard he hauled back, but the blacksmith shook his head. Seth had not taken her soul. Apart from wanting her to rot in the afterlife, there was simply no reason to.

Like Seth, Lady Durnham had mostly relied on outward factors to become strong. Although she was lucky with her class and became the Chosen of Kali, she could not have become this strong without the heavy support of her family and the stroke of luck that gave her Kalzemir.

Her legendary summons were great, but her soul itself held nothing Seth wanted. At least not enough to endure the thought of having her, or what remained of her around him. There was also the experience with the leader of the Zarkist. A soul tainted by the power of a god was unusable without cleansing.

Having given everything on the table a once over, Seth turned to the item box. The small pitch-black box that held part of a killed playerʼs inventory. The bard was curious to see what the necromancer still had up her sleeves. Having seen the gate and heard about the device that wiped out magic, his expectations were high.

~Oh, are we comparing loot? This great one wants to compete too! Check these out.~ Puffles interrupted the bard and a bunch of stuff suddenly fell from an opening in the pet spaces. A bunch of rings, a staff, a necklace, a ragged robe, and a book spilled on the kitchen table. Seth glances at the pile.

The robe and rings were nothing overly special. The robe was a good relic-rated dungeon drop, the same was correct for the rings. All of them were epic, some were created, and others were dungeon drops. There were only three items that drew the blacksmithʼs attention.

Sokolovʼs Lightning Rod was the staff used by the elder lich Puffles had crushed, showing that the lichʼs main way of attack when he was alive was actually lightning magic. It was the first item that didnʼt improve Lightning Affinity, but actually granted 50% Lightning Affection, the higher form of affinity.

Apart from that it improved magic in general and offered the skill which was a mighty, channeled ray of lightning plasma the user could fire as long as they had mana. it was a pretty cool item, but nothing Seth could gain anything from.

The necklace that caught his attention was Sokolovʼs Health Stone, Surprisingly, the effect of the necklace was similar to the effect of , a passive skill on one of Sethʼs soul armaments. It improved all bodily attributes by 50 points and health regeneration by 200%.

Seth had some questions about how exactly a mage managed to cause such a legendary effect on an item, but it was actually pretty good. He would have to decide with the others, who would get this one. Lastly, Sethʼs eyes fell on the book that fell on the table.
Ledger of Administration was written in big letters on the front of the book. It was definitely a legendary item, but Seth was actually unable to appraise it! The Tome of Gönndalf was an exception since spell books were something even Seth could make.

However, this was seemingly an enchanted book. He had no crafting skill that corresponded to the class needed to make something like this. The blacksmith would have to ask Mary, Leana, or Al about this one.

“A good haul, Puffles,” Seth commented after he explained to everyone what the individual items did. After the little distraction, he finally looked into the item box. He kept pulling out and trying to appraise whatever fit on the table one by one.

“Oh, interesting, this completes the set.” the blacksmith mumbled as he brought out a white gugel, something like a medieval hood. Surprisingly it was called Hat of Aela, it was the missing set piece for the gloves and shirt.

Despite its gaudy design, it actually had the effect of lowering the wearerʼs presence by 50%. This meant that even if the wearer stood directly beside someone, it was twice as hard to actually notice them. With the final piece in his possession, the set effect was also revealed.

Aelaʼs Set granted a skill with two effects. was an active skill that allowed the user to traverse on any surface as if it was a sticky net. At the same time, it lowered the userʼs presence by another 25%. meaning that it would be four times harder to notice the wearer of the set.

Seth understood why Natina wore the gloves and shirt, she needed the dexterity and agility to deal with her number of arms, but with the addition of the gugel, it became clear that this was actually a set that perfectly fit a thief or assassin. He was quite happy with his first pick.

“What is it?” Fin asked excited for the next item, as Seth pulled out another pair of gloves and his eyebrows rose a little. These were called the gloves of healing and they were clearly items meant for a healer or priest class. Their effect was to create a barrier, the user could actually heal with their healing skills.

At first, Seth was surprised that Natina had such an item until he read the flavor test. This was another item by the hand of Master Tailor Aela. This explained why it was in the inventory of the necromancer, she had looted them from her victim.

Mentioning the Arachne, it seemed like she was Natinaʼs latest victim, as the next item Seth pulled from the item box were four bales of Arachne spider silk and 15 spools of Arachne thread. Both of these materials were legendary tailor supplies, but they couldnʼt impress Fin and Mina.

The next item on the other hand had the two girls mewing in excitement. It was a small, portable keg spreading the mouth-watering scent of alcohol. It was of clear dwarven design and the magic enchantment made it a Boozehoundʼs best friend.

“Seems like Natina had some hidden hobbies~” Fin joked when Seth described the effects. Lotmarraʼs Travel Keg was a magic artifact that was able to fill itself magically with a strong dwarven beer once a day. It was created by a dwarven master called Lotmarra Goldenjaw. Although it was not legendary, it was a fun surprise.

Next came a number of potions, of of them being relatively normal stuff. But among the potions he found in the item box were a handful he couldnʼt appraise because of his lacking level in . He would have to ask Alison to take a look.

“ Oh, wow...” Mina commented while Fin tried to suppress her chuckling. Following the potions were a load of stuffed animals that were even by the modern standards Seth knew, very cute. it seemed that even the ruthless necromancer girl had her hidden sides.

Fin took it upon herself to “dispose” of the stuffed animals. The next item Seth brought had the girls confused for a moment. It was a block of solid gold, with an intricate sigil carved on one side.

“This is the Sigil of Royalty, it identifies a person that was accepted as a royal of Spatia,” Seth explained, looking at the sigil with minimal interest. It was a magic item similar to the rings of Minas Mar. Of course, it worked very differently.

There was no use for it right now, but maybe there would be some opportunity in the future. Putting it aside, the next item he brought out was of similar value. The Key to Durnham Manor. While Seth brought it out with the same lack of enthusiasm as the sigil, the girls actually stared at it with wide-open eyes.

“A Traversal Key!”, Fin gasped at the sight of the little shiny gold key.

He also stared at it once he fired at the key. As Fin mentioned, the description called it a traversal key. It wasnʼt just the key to the mansion of the Durnham family, but a magic item that allowed the user to enter the Durnham Manor from any door within the same world.

It was like a version of but turned into an item without a usage limit. The only condition was to have a door to use the key on. For a fraction of a moment, Seth also wanted one for Minas Mar, but then his paranoid mind kicked in and reminded him about the consequences if such a key happened to get into the wrong hands.

Like this one in his hands, for example. The sigilʼs used was ambiguous, but Seth knew exactly what he was going to do with this key. This was the last highlight among the items brought out from the item box.

There were two more devices Seth could not decipher and would have to ask Alʼzalsar about, but overall it was less than he expected. Of course, a player didnʼt drop everything they held in their inventory upon death, but the blacksmith expected a little more from such a troublesome enemy.

After ruffling through a dead personʼs possession they finished their breakfast and left. It was time to meet everyone and talk about the future of Minas Mar, now that Urth, or what was left of it, was united.
