Celestial Beast Taming

Chapter 103: Chapter 84: Parasitic Beast: Thorny Sparrow Hunter

’In fact, because of how versatile Shelters are, Zhong Yi felt that the Celestial Destiny Society had set the price for them a bit too low.’

’If he were to take a Shelter obtained with a Celestial Destiny Seeker’s Potential Points and sell it on the open market, the price would definitely be higher than other resources of equivalent point value.’

’It was just that anyone who could become a Celestial Destiny Seeker generally wouldn’t resort to reselling goods from the Celestial Destiny Society’s vault for a profit.’

’It just wasn’t worth it!’

’If a Celestial Destiny Seeker was willing to join a top-tier faction, the benefits they would receive would far outweigh anything they could gain from reselling items from the Celestial Destiny Society’s Treasure Vault.’

’But there were pros and cons to everything.’

’If a Celestial Destiny Seeker joined a top-tier faction and took its resources, they would naturally be expected to work and contribute to that faction in return.’

”Elder Ye, my Potential Points haven’t been issued yet, so I don’t have many on hand at the moment.”

”Could you show me everything on the scrolling screen that costs less than 1,000 Potential Points?”

Hearing this, Ye Futu’s face broke into a brilliant smile as he spoke.

”Lord Su Sheng, you are the only Celestial Destiny Seeker reported by our Xin Xia Federation with an SSS Level potential rating.”

”If the potential rating reported for you by Starlight City gets approved, then based on the distribution method where Potential Points double for each major tier increase, you should receive twenty thousand Potential Points.”

”At that time, aside from the Heart of the Secret Realm, you’ll be able to exchange for anything in the Celestial Destiny Society’s Treasure Vault, even a Fifth Level Shelter.”

While Ye Futu was talking with Zhong Yi, his hands moved without the slightest hesitation.

Soon, the large screen in the lounge lit up, and resources under one thousand Potential Points appeared before Zhong Yi, sorted from lowest price to highest.

The price for the corpse of an Extraordinary Tier Bizarre creature was 50 Potential Points.

Since the corpses of Extraordinary Tier Bizarre creatures couldn’t appear at auction houses, their actual value was difficult to measure in Alliance Coins.

Soon, Zhong Yi noticed that the exchange price for a Fairy Flashing Phosphorus Flood Dragon Crystal was 100 Potential Points.

Before coming to exchange for the Fairy Flashing Phosphorus Flood Dragon Crystals, Zhong Yi had specifically checked their transaction records at auction houses.

Because Fairy Flashing Phosphorus Flood Dragon Crystals rarely appeared, there weren’t many transaction records available to find online.

But on average, the value of a single Fairy Flashing Phosphorus Flood Dragon Crystal was around 3.7 million Federation Coins.

By his calculation, one Potential Point from a Celestial Destiny Seeker was equivalent to thirty to forty thousand Federation Coins.

A Celestial Destiny Seeker with an S-level potential rating could receive 5,000 Potential Points annually.

The Potential Points of a single S-level Celestial Destiny Seeker were roughly equivalent to the Xin Xia Federation investing two hundred million Federation Coins into that Seeker for free each year.

Since the resources in the Celestial Destiny Society’s Treasure Vault were all extremely rare and precious, they seldom appeared on the open market.

Therefore, the true value of 5,000 Potential Points was actually higher than 200 million!

Zhong Yi couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. ’The Xin Xia Federation is truly generous to its Celestial Destiny Seekers.’

As the screen scrolled, Zhong Yi discovered that hiring a Three-finger Creator for three months, requiring the Creator’s full and undivided service for that period, cost only 200 Potential Points.

’200 Potential Points to buy three months of a Three-finger Creator’s time is far too cheap.’

’Clearly, the Xin Xia Federation was providing an additional subsidy for this exchange.’

”Elder Ye, I need four Fairy Flashing Phosphorus Flood Dragon Crystals.”

Hearing Zhong Yi’s words, Ye Futu immediately marked the selection.

Now, Zhong Yi was left with only 600 Potential Points!

But soon, Zhong Yi discovered another target that piqued his interest.

It was a pair of parasitic avian Guardian Beasts called Thorny Sparrow Hunters.

This pair of Thorny Sparrow Hunters, one male and one female, was priced at 500 Potential Points.

The Thorny Sparrow Hunter was a very special type of avian Guardian Beast. It couldn’t increase its own strength and had no attributes of its own.

However, after becoming parasitic on a thorn bush, its Bloodline would connect with the host plant.

It would change its own attributes based on those of the host thorn bush, and its strength would increase as the host’s did.

While parasitic on the thorn bush, the Thorny Sparrow Hunter also becomes its guardian, building a nest and raising its young on the plant.

It would launch fearless, death-defying attacks against any intruder or target that tried to damage the thorns.

If Zhong Yi hadn’t obtained the Sunlight Thorn in the Horned Demon Secret Realm, he would have never even considered exchanging for this pair of Thorny Sparrow Hunters.

But having obtained the Sunlight Thorn and planning to form a Contract with it using a Soul Taming Seed, Zhong Yi felt that this Thorn Hunting Sparrow Couple was the perfect partner for it.

The Sunlight Thorn only needed to absorb sunlight to rapidly advance its Tier and break through its Quality.

Once this pair of parasitic avian Guardian Beasts, the Thorny Sparrow Hunters, latched onto the Sunlight Thorn, they could use it to rapidly increase their own strength and Quality.

The Thorny Sparrow Hunter was an avian creature that was very good at breeding.

In the wild, even thorny bushes were a tasty meal for many predators.

The Thorny Sparrow Hunter’s temperament was both ferocious and bloodthirsty; it would not stop attacking until it had repelled or killed any intruder damaging its thorn bush.

It was precisely because of this nature that the Thorny Sparrow Hunter’s reproductive ability was so strong.

In Zhong Yi’s eyes, pairing the Sunlight Thorn with Thorny Sparrow Hunters created an excellent Defensive Guardian Beast combination.

The two would work together to maintain a small defensive territory.

Actually, the moment he saw the pair of Thorny Sparrow Hunters, Zhong Yi’s thoughts went far beyond just that.

An extremely bold idea had sprouted in his mind!

Whether this idea could be realized, however, would have to wait until after he formed a Contract with the Sunlight Thorn using the Soul Taming Seed.

He would have to see just how fast the Sunlight Thorn could advance its Tier and Quality by absorbing sunlight before he could be sure.

If the Sunlight Thorn’s speed of advancing its Tier and Quality was extremely fast, allowing it to go from Mortal Beast Tier to Fantasy Tier, or even the higher Mythical Tier, in a very short time...

...Zhong Yi could absolutely use the Thorny Sparrow Hunters parasitic on the Sunlight Thorn to build a powerful combat team.

’Each person on the team could form a Contract with a newborn Thorny Sparrow Hunter, and then rely on their parasitism of the Sunlight Thorn to rapidly increase their strength.’

’In a natural environment, the parasitic relationship between a Thorny Sparrow Hunter and a thorn bush is actually a two-way street.’

’The Thorny Sparrow Hunter will proactively choose a thorn bush to latch onto, but the thorn bush can also kill the parasitic Thorny Sparrow Hunter, turning it into nutrients for growth.’

’Only when the thorn bush needs the Thorny Sparrow Hunter’s protection will it allow the parasitism to continue.’

’But after I form a Contract with the Sunlight Thorn, I can command it to control the Thorny Sparrow Hunters’ parasitism.’

Zhong Yi forcefully suppressed the excitement that arose from this idea.

He spoke to Ye Futu in a steady voice.

”I’ll take this pair of Thorny Sparrow Hunters!”

After selecting the pair of Thorny Sparrow Hunters, Zhong Yi only had 100 Potential Points left.

Just as Zhong Yi was about to finish his exchange, he heard Ye Futu suddenly say,

”Lord Su Sheng, just a moment ago, another seventeen items were added to the Celestial Destiny Society’s Treasure Vault.”

”Among them are three items valued at under 1,000 points.”

”One of these three items is what I would consider extremely rare. I wonder if you might be interested.”

Ye Futu didn’t stop the items from scrolling on the screen; instead, he handed the control panel he was holding to Zhong Yi.

When Zhong Yi saw the Guardian Beast that appeared on the control panel, he was immediately tempted.

It was a mutated variety of the Farmer Earthworm—a Gardener Worm!

And the price was only 200 Potential Points!

Even though he only had 100 Potential Points left, Zhong Yi decided he absolutely had to get this Gardener Worm.

’To others, the Gardener Worm might just be a Guardian Beast that can improve soil over the long term, making it more fertile.’

’But in my eyes, if I can get the Gardener Worm to undergo another Evolution along its mutated Bloodline...’

’...the Gardener Worm would become a Guardian Beast with a value comparable to the Blood Enchanting Bee Queen!’
