My Superpower Leads Me to Murderers

Chapter 469: Chapter 469: I Want to Call the Police, My Mom Is Missing

Evan Keller spoke, looking at Barry Quinn and Monkey standing not far off.

Recalling the information they had previously revealed to her, a flash of understanding passed through Zoe Sawyer’s eyes.

’So they were going to eliminate this group for good, out on the same international waters where Big Sis Patrick Miller and her crew had planned to run rampant.’

’As for why they had called on Barry Quinn and Monkey...’

’It must have been an order from above, considering they’d lost a teammate at the hands of Patrick Miller’s people.’

’This was their chance to avenge a fallen comrade, to use the blood of his killers to appease his memory.’

Sure enough, just as Zoe Sawyer and the others arrived at the office, they heard the director’s plan.

The military had already dispatched a warship to wait in international waters, and Zoe Sawyer’s mission was to use her door to take the five individuals to the vessel.

The matter was critical, so Zoe Sawyer didn’t waste any time. She took Barry Quinn and Monkey and quickly completed the mission assigned to her.

A black cloth was tied over Patrick Miller’s face and she was wearing earmuffs, completely unaware of what was happening around her.

When she was brought onto the deck of the warship and the earmuffs and blindfold were removed, a look of astonishment flashed across her face as she saw the boundless sea before her.

’How did I suddenly end up at sea?’

Before she could figure it out, four more people were forced to kneel beside her.

All five wore the same expression, completely unable to understand how they had suddenly appeared on a warship.

But the soldiers, long prepared, gave them no time to think. They quickly raised their guns and sent them to hell.

Once it was confirmed they were truly dead, the five bodies were thrown into the sea. From that day on, the five of them were considered completely vanished from the world.

”Finally, revenge!” Barry Quinn stared at the spot where Patrick Miller had been kneeling, his hands clenched so tightly he nearly broke the skin of his palms.

Monkey glanced back at Zoe Sawyer, his eyes burning with intensity. He understood that she was the one who had made all of this possible.

’We made it back alive and avenged our fallen brother, all thanks to Zoe Sawyer’s ability!’

The three of them stayed on the warship for a while longer. After confirming there was nothing else, they returned to the police station through the door.

From start to finish, their movements had been confined to that one office. Aside from a few specific individuals, no one else had seen them at all.

After this matter was resolved, Zoe Sawyer and the others returned to their normal work.

「Meanwhile, in Rystead」

In one house, several people were frantically searching every corner.

”Did you find anything?” a man asked, his face weary and his voice filled with anxiety.

Another woman emerged from behind the house, bits of grass clinging to her clothes and hair. She had clearly just been rummaging through a patch of weeds. Hearing her husband’s question, she shook her head, her voice sorrowful. ”No, she’s not behind the house anywhere.

This is bad. Mom’s health is so poor. We have to keep looking around here. If we can’t find her, we’ll call the police! We can’t afford to waste any time!”

”I agree. Mom’s memory is bad. What if she wandered off and forgot the way home? We should call the police now. The sooner they start looking, the sooner they’ll find her!” a younger-looking man squatting by the door said firmly, grabbing a handful of his hair.

They quickly reached an agreement.

They had already searched every nook and cranny of the house. For just a few of them to search every corner of the village was a fool’s errand.

They had to ask for help.

At this thought, the woman who had emerged from the weeds couldn’t sit still any longer. She quickly got on the family’s electric scooter and sped off toward the village committee office.

The village chief, who had been organizing documents, looked up in surprise at the woman rushing in. ”Faye, what’s the hurry? Is something wrong?”

Faye Hughes slammed a hand on the chief’s desk, her voice frantic. ”Uncle Chief, my mom’s missing! We’ve searched inside and outside the house, but we can’t find her.

The village is too big, there aren’t enough of us to search it all. I was hoping you could make an announcement on the loudspeaker and ask anyone who’s free to help us look.

You know my mom’s memory is gone. If we don’t find her and bring her back soon, I’m afraid she’ll wander too far. It’ll be even harder to find her, and something terrible could happen!”

Thinking of the possibilities, Faye Hughes felt as if a hand were squeezing her heart, making it impossible to breathe.

The village chief, who had been merely surprised, shot to his feet after hearing what Faye Hughes said. ”This is serious! You should have come to me sooner!

Don’t panic. I’ll make an announcement on the broadcast system right now. Have you checked the security camera at home? What was Auntie wearing when she left? Quick, take a screenshot and post it in the village group chat!”

”Right, right, the camera!” Faye Hughes slapped her own forehead. ’How could I have forgotten about that!’

The old woman’s memory was poor now, so they had installed a security camera at home, worried something might happen. Whenever one of them had a free moment, they would call out to her through the camera, only feeling at ease to continue their work after hearing a response.

Faye Hughes wasted no time and immediately pulled up the security footage on her phone.

Seeing that familiar, frail figure unsteadily walk out the front door, Faye Hughes felt a sting in her nose, wishing desperately she could find her mother right this instant.

After she posted the screenshot to the village group chat, the village chief also explained the situation over the broadcast system.

When the broadcast ended, people emerged from every house. Dressed for the search, they called out to one another before each picking a direction and heading out.

But unfortunately, even after searching every nook and cranny of the entire village, they found no trace of the missing woman.

”Faye, don’t waste any more time. Go report this to the police. Let them handle the search.

Once night falls, it will be even more dangerous,” the village chief said gravely, taking a deep drag from his cigarette.

Their village was surrounded by hills. The temperature would drop as soon as it got dark, and the surrounding paths would be pitch-black, without a single light.

’Given Auntie’s frail condition, her body wouldn’t be able to handle it once the temperature drops!’

Moreover, the chief had a very grim thought. ’If Auntie can’t see the path at night and accidentally falls into a ditch or a river, her chances of survival will be slim!’

’So, for Auntie’s safety, they have to report it to the police as soon as possible and let the professionals search for her!’

Faye Hughes also understood the unspoken meaning in the chief’s words. Her face turned deathly pale, and she stumbled out, her limbs feeling weak.

Seeing her dazed and distraught state, the village chief frowned and shouted to his son, who was resting on the steps by the door, ”Take Faye to the police station!”

’In her current state, he was genuinely afraid she would crash the scooter!’

”Okay! Got it,” the chief’s son replied, standing up and striding after Faye Hughes.

Faye Hughes didn’t refuse the chief’s kind offer. Her limbs felt so weak right now that she was afraid she wouldn’t even have the strength to turn the handlebars.

Fortunately, the village wasn’t far from the town’s police station. Soon, the two of them arrived at the entrance.

The moment the scooter stopped, Faye Hughes jumped off and scrambled inside.

”I need to file a report! My mom is missing!”
