My Superpower Leads Me to Murderers

Chapter 158: Chapter 158: Dexter Bishop’s Backup Plan

Heath Hale paid no mind to anything else, striding over to Zoe Sawyer’s side. His voice was urgent. ”What’s wrong? Are you not feeling well?”

Zoe Sawyer clenched her fist, her expression a mix of confusion and a flicker of understanding.

Upon hearing Heath Hale’s voice, she looked up at him. ”Heath, I think my golden finger just leveled up again. And... I think I’m starting to figure out the pattern behind its upgrades.”

It’s like accumulating karma, like they talk about in novels. The more people she helped, the faster it would level up.

’It was like this case,’ she thought. ’I used the door’s ability to identify the two suspects’ faces, and in the end, I even helped Evan Keller and his team catch them quickly.’

’Through that breakthrough, they successfully uncovered the bombs hidden in other old residential complexes and even helped Evan Keller’s team catch Old Man Dex.’

’I indirectly prevented one bombing after another and successfully reduced a lot of casualties.’

”Isn’t that a good thing? Why do you look so serious?” Heath Hale asked, looking at Zoe Sawyer’s solemn expression. He couldn’t quite understand.

’Isn’t figuring out the pattern better than knowing nothing at all?’

”I can feel that it’s leveled up, but as for what that new aspect is, or how to use it... I’m still completely in the dark,” Zoe Sawyer said, shrugging helplessly.

More importantly, she had a very bad feeling.

It was a premonition unlike any she’d had before, which was the main reason for her serious expression.

But everyone at the police department was busy right now, and Zoe Sawyer didn’t want to bother them with this. She decided to wait until the current case was resolved before looking into it further.

Heath Hale nodded. He knew Zoe Sawyer wasn’t telling him everything, but he still patted her on the head and told her not to overthink it.

Zoe Sawyer put the matter aside for now and followed Heath Hale to the door of the interrogation room.

The interrogation rooms for Dexter Bishop and Wyatt Ford were in the same area, so they didn’t have to run around to listen in.

Just as Zoe Sawyer and Heath Hale arrived, they saw Evan Keller emerge from inside, his face dark.

They didn’t need to ask; it was obvious the suspect hadn’t said anything useful.

Zoe Sawyer was about to ask when Heath Hale stopped her, pointing to the other room.

Inside was this operation’s primary target, Dexter Bishop.

And the one interrogating him was an expert sent over from the provincial bureau.

”Don’t think you’ve won just because you caught me. If they don’t hear from me by the end of today, they’ll know things have gone south, and then...” Dexter Bishop didn’t finish his sentence. Instead, he grinned at the police officer in the interrogation room, his eyes filled with malice.

The unspoken threat left everything to the imagination.

’Six’s organization is even more powerful than I imagined,’ he thought. ’Once they find out I’ve been caught, they definitely won’t proceed with the original plan and come here.’

’But that’s fine. I have my own backup plan!’

As Dexter Bishop thought about what he had prepared and the impact it would have, he began to tremble with excitement.

’He couldn’t wait to see the looks on their faces when they learned the truth!’

”You’re a tough nut to crack, that’s for sure. But your men don’t have nearly as much backbone. To get a lighter sentence, they spilled everything they knew.” The expert flipped through the file in his hands. The testimony within detailed basically everything Dexter Bishop had done recently, as if each man was afraid someone else would beat them to the punch.

Especially the suspect named Rudy Lane. He was the most cooperative of the bunch.

He and Pierce Miller, who had been arrested earlier, worked together to expose everything about Dexter Bishop.

They even implicated a number of other people.

The other arrestees were spurred on by their actions, and one by one, they started talking, revealing even more details about the cases.

This was one of the main reasons they were able to get confessions so quickly.

Although Dexter Bishop was cautious, it was impossible for him to do everything himself.

He arranged for his subordinates to carry out almost all of his operations.

”Remember those bombs you planted in the residential complexes? To reduce his sentence and claim a reward, Pierce Miller told us everything, down to the last detail.” The expert slid a photo across the table to Dexter Bishop, showing Pierce Miller in an interrogation room signing his confession.

It was as if a bucket of cold water had been thrown on Dexter Bishop’s excitement. His face instantly turned beet red, and he slammed his hands on the table in a rage. ”Pierce Miller! That bastard! He’s not dead yet!

And Wyatt Ford is a useless piece of shit! Can’t even kill one person, he might as well just drop dead! He even got me caught! I should have just put a bullet in his head back then!

Useless! Useless! They’re all a bunch of useless trash!”

Just like that, everything clicked into place for Dexter Bishop.

’No wonder.’

’No wonder those cops suddenly found me and knew the layout of the entire building so clearly. It was that traitor Pierce Miller! He sold me out!’

’Wyatt Ford must have been captured then, too. That useless piece of garbage!’

The thought made Dexter Bishop grind his teeth in hatred. To think he’d been so cautious all this time, only to trip up over this!

’It’s all that idiot Wyatt Ford’s fault! If he had just taken care of the Miller Brothers earlier, none of this would be happening!’

The expert neither confirmed nor denied it. In any case, it was all just the suspect’s own speculation.

”Alright, enough with the pointless struggling. Who was the other supplier for the raw materials for these bombs?” a junior police officer at the side asked.

Having vented his fury, Dexter Bishop stopped his frantic movements. He turned his head and stared intently at the glass beside him.

It was a one-way mirror. Those on the outside could see in, but those on the inside could not see out.

Dexter Bishop ignored the question. His face twisted as he stared at the mirror, speaking word by word. ”I know you’re out there watching. I have another, extremely powerful bomb planted in a location none of them know about.

If you want to know where, fine. Get that cop named Evan Keller in here, and I’ll tell you.”

’So he wants to talk about backup plans? As if I don’t have one of my own!’

The expressions of everyone, both inside and outside the interrogation room, changed drastically.

’There’s another one?!’

”You planted another bomb?” The expert, who had been sitting at the table, shot to his feet, his voice filled with disbelief.

”Of course. I didn’t tell a soul about this one. It’s a special treat just for Evan Keller.” Dexter Bishop’s expression was vicious. He then glanced at the clock hanging in the middle of the wall, his tone becoming strangely excited. ”And if I don’t intervene, that bomb will detonate in one hour!

When that happens, another building will be reduced to rubble. How many people will get caught in the blast then, I wonder?”

Back then, Evan Keller had ruined his plans and wiped out his entire operation.

Now, he just wanted to make Evan Keller taste what it was like to lose everything!

Evan Keller’s face was grim. He said a quick word to the chief beside him and walked in, standing before Dexter Bishop. ”I’m here. Now you can talk!”

”HAHAHAHAHA! I remember now... Your parents live at The Lumina, don’t they?”
