The Invincible Strongest Student

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Which Side Is Lady Luck On?

No one knew who started spreading the word, but it got everyone from the other tables to come over and join the fun.

There was no way around it, compared to other tables, Lin Tian and Green were playing at much higher stakes.

Normally, people play a few thousand chips or at most ten or twenty thousand.

But look at these two, they were tossing tens of thousands of chips like it was nothing.

It was too thrilling, too exhilarating!

The commotion caused by Lin Tian and Green naturally caught the attention of Bai Shishi and Durant.

Durant was fine, as the authoritative figure among the three, he knew well of Green’s capabilities.

If he lost to a student? Then Green might as well stop showing up in the gambling scene.

It would be an utter disgrace.

Unlike Durant’s calmness, Bai Shishi was incredibly anxious.

She really feared Lin Tian might lose the two million in cash at once, after all, she wasn’t too sure about Lin Tian’s true skills.

She had just tested him a bit and knew that he could see through cheating tactics.

If he lost to Green, tonight could only be described as adding insult to injury.

Unlike the onlookers who were watching for fun and some with concern, the two main characters were nervously staring at each other, though they both had smiles on their lips, the tension in their hearts was probably known only to themselves.

”Shall we reveal?” Green reached out to take the cards.

With just that movement, Lin Tian clearly saw that a card at Green’s wrist was hooked by his little finger.

”Is he going to cheat?” Lin Tian felt a jolt in his heart.

His only strength was being able to see through his opponent’s cards, but when it came to cheating, he was clueless.

If Green cheated, he had no way to counter it.

”What should I do?” Lin Tian panicked, his mind racing for a solution.

”I got it!” Lin Tian had a flash of inspiration and gestured for Green not to reveal the cards just yet: ”I feel it’s no fun if we reveal like this!”

”Hmm?” Green looked at Lin Tian with a puzzled expression, not understanding what he intended to do.

”I want to play a game with you, just don’t know if you have the guts!” Lin Tian suddenly remembered something Bai Shishi had said.

Green was a hot-headed person, and usually, people like that are easily swayed by temper, once their blood gets hot, they could lose all rationality and do anything.

It was precisely this point that Lin Tian grasped, using words to provoke him.

”What game?” Green’s deep gaze was fixed on Lin Tian, curious to see what trick he was going to pull.

”We haven’t touched the cards, how about we take each other’s cards instead, meaning we reveal each other’s cards!” Lin Tian proposed.

If they revealed each other’s cards, then Green wouldn’t have the chance to cheat, and with the current card situation, his cards would surely win.

Of course, the prerequisite was that he had to make Green agree.

”What’s the point of that?” Green shook his head, rejecting Lin Tian’s suggestion.

Seeing Green’s refusal, Lin Tian immediately provoked him, ”Afraid? Or are you scared? So that’s how cowardly you foreigners are, huh?”

That sentence immediately riled Green up, just as Lin Tian said, neither had seen the cards, he didn’t believe he would lose without cheating.

”Need to consider so long? It’s just you see my card, I see yours, anyway, the cards are here untouched, or do you have concerns?” Lin Tian paused and said playfully, ”Or are you foreigners planning to pull some trick?”

The last sentence was intentionally said loud for the crowd to hear.

”Fine, let’s do it, do you think I’d be afraid of you!” Faced with the crowd’s gaze, Green couldn’t save face and agreed without hesitation.

”Please!” Lin Tian pushed his cards to Green.

”Here you go!” Green also pushed his cards to Lin Tian.

Throughout the process, Lin Tian kept an eye on the six cards, as long as nothing unexpected happened during that time, everything would be fine.

Whether it was Green’s overconfidence in his luck or because there were too many people watching, Green did not cheat during the process and confidently pushed the cards over to Lin Tian.

”Now, can we reveal the cards?” Green asked nervously.

Not having cheated and unaware of the outcome, this made Green’s heartbeat quicken a bit.

In contrast, Lin Tian was quite composed; he already knew clearly the outcome of winning or losing.

Both of them turned over the first card at the same time, and they were both Aces!

This scene caused an outburst from the onlookers, who all focused intensely on the hands of the two players.

”Continue!” Lin Tian smiled slightly at Green.

Both turned over the second card at the same time, again they had matching cards — Kings.

”Wow, so thrilling!”

”It’s so nerve-wracking!”

”I can’t, my little heart almost jumped out!”

Seeing such cards, the spectators exclaimed one after the other, this was a pair of mirrored cards.

This means the first two cards are the same, so it comes down to whose third card is bigger.

The spectators already found it nerve-wracking, so naturally, the participants were even more on edge.

Green suddenly regretted agreeing to Lin Tian’s condition, he should have just cheated to secure the win before; there was no need to make it so dramatic!

But now it was too late for regret, he could only blame the rush of blood earlier.

”The last card — you first or me?” Lin Tian remained calm, with a confident expression.

”I’ll go first!” Since Green had Lin Tian’s cards, he decided to reveal them first.

”Okay!” Lin Tian had no objections to this.

Green reached out and turned over the third card, and upon seeing a 4, the heart stuck in his throat finally relaxed back into place.

With a deep breath, calming his excited nerves, Green grinned showing his teeth: ”Looks like Lady Luck is on my side!”

Green had revealed AK4, which was Lin Tian’s hand. As long as Lin Tian didn’t reveal a 2 or 3, Green would win this round.

And the probability of that was too low, there were only eight cards of 2 and 3 in a deck, which was a small proportion; but there were plenty of cards larger than 4.

From a probability standpoint, Green was guaranteed a win this round.

”Seems like I might lose!” Lin Tian feigned a look of disappointment.

As Lin Tian turned over his third card, suddenly all the spectators held their breath.

Then followed a chorus of chatter and exclamations louder than before.

”Holy shit, it’s a 3!”

”AK4 and AK3, truly matching foes!”

”This loss is really a pity!”

”Lady Luck really did stand by your side!” Lin Tian said, echoing Green’s own words, as he looked at the three cards before him.

It was only then Green realized that the cards he revealed were Lin Tian’s, and Lin Tian was opening his own cards.

Before Lin Tian revealed his card, Green had arrogantly claimed that Lady Luck was on his side...
