The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man

Chapter 166: Chapter 165: Apologizing is Impossible

”He actually dared to go to their supervisor! What’s wrong with me saying a few things about him? I’m his aunt.”

Aunt Leng looked completely displeased.

All she did was mention that Leng Yuan had taken out a loan from a loan shark.

She wasn’t even lying.

Besides, Gu Jiaojiao hadn’t believed her!

In fact, she had turned around and lectured her.

It had totally stripped her of her dignity.

She still felt wronged just thinking about it!

Who was she supposed to complain to!

And she was the elder here!

Leng Qiushou was exasperated.

”We cut ties with him long ago. He doesn’t acknowledge you as his aunt.”

Aunt Leng was speechless.

’So irritating!’

’Why did my son have to open his mouth!’

’He’s so much better when he’s quiet.’

Leng Qiushou knew his mother’s personality well, so he tried to coax her.

”Mom, please, just go apologize to Leng Yuan. If he forgives you, Man Cang and I can keep our jobs.”

”I’m not going.”

Aunt Leng refused without a second thought.

’She was an elder. How could she stoop so low?’

Leng Qiushou was about to lose his temper, but Leng ManCang tugged his arm and gestured to him.

Leng Qiushou felt helpless. This was his own mother; he couldn’t yell at her or scold her. Instead, he pulled a ten-yuan bill from his pocket.

”Just go apologize and get on Leng Yuan’s good side. This ten-yuan bill is yours if you do.”

Aunt Leng glanced at it. She was tempted, but an elder had to have her pride!

She refused.

Leng Qiushou took a deep breath.

”When I get my job back, I’ll give the family five yuan every month.”

Aunt Leng snatched the ten-yuan bill, her face breaking into a smile. ”It’s just an apology. I’ll go.”

Leng ManCang looked at his own mother. ”Mom, you go too.”

With that, he held out a ten-yuan bill.

”If I get my job back, I’ll do the same as Big Brother.”

Third Aunt Leng’s eyes lit up.

”Alright, Mom’s going right now. I’ll be sure to have a good talk with Leng Yuan.”

’It didn’t matter if she was wrong or not. Apologizing first was the right move.’

After stashing the money away, Third Aunt Leng dragged Aunt Leng out the door.

Too embarrassed to go with them, Leng Qiushou and Leng ManCang stayed home to wait for news.

Leng ManCang was incredibly frustrated.

”Big Brother, do you think it will work?”

Leng Qiushou looked certain. ”It’ll definitely work. When Grandpa passed, he asked Leng Yuan to take good care of our family. He respects Grandpa more than anyone, so he’ll definitely help us.”

Leng ManCang was still not convinced.

”Big Brother, are we just going to let Leng Yuan have us under his thumb forever?”

It’s impossible to feel good when someone else controls your destiny.

Leng Qiushou’s expression darkened.

”Once we get our jobs back, you need to figure out what connections Leng Yuan has. We’ll just do whatever he did. I refuse to believe the supervisor will listen to him every single time.”

’Leng Yuan must have given him a gift,’ Leng Qiushou thought. ’Why else would someone help him for nothing?’

Leng ManCang looked exasperated.

”Big Brother, you said the same thing three years ago. It’s been all this time, and we still haven’t found a single thing about his so-called ’connections’.”

Leng Qiushou was speechless.

”Then you tell me, what should we do?”

Leng ManCang fell silent.

’If he knew what to do, he would have done it already.’

Unable to think of a solution, he couldn’t help but speak resentfully.

”Just what kind of power does that brat have? Even the supervisor listens to everything he says.”

”If you ask me, we should just make up with him and be done with it.”

Leng Qiushou immediately shot back.

”Isn’t that obvious? If he were willing to reconcile, we would have made up back when we went to his house to extend an olive branch. It wouldn’t have dragged on this long.”

It’s Leng Yuan who’s unwilling!

Back then, Grandma Leng had brought Aunt Leng and Third Aunt Leng to Leng Yuan’s house to take advantage of him. Leng Yuan got so fed up with them that he went straight to the County Town and found their supervisor.

Right after, their supervisor told them to go home and think about what they’d done.

And only come back to work once they’d figured it out.

That’s when they first thought of making up.

They went to his house to ask for a truce.

And what did Leng Yuan do? He kicked them out, one by one.

So was it *their* fault they couldn’t make up?

No, it was Leng Yuan who refused!

Neither plan would work.

The two brothers looked at each other and let out a heavy sigh.

”We’ll have to have a serious talk with our parents,” Leng Qiushou finally said. ”They need to stop looking for trouble all the time.”

To be fair, things had been going smoothly for them for the past two years. They both had permanent jobs and wives from the city. In the eyes of the villagers, they had brought great honor to their ancestors.

Every time they came back, the villagers would shower them with compliments, and it had really gone to their heads.

The supervisor sending them home this time was like a slap in the face that woke them both up.

’It’s better to keep a low profile.’

The two fell silent, waiting for Aunt Leng and Third Aunt Leng to come back.

Aunt Leng and Third Aunt Leng arrived at Leng Yuan’s house and knocked on the door.

Gu Jiaojiao had also just gotten back. Leng Yuan had already rolled out some noodles, chopped up cabbage and wild boar meat, and set them aside, just waiting for Gu Jiaojiao to get home so she could stir-fry everything.

She had just tossed the pork into the wok when there was a knock at the door.

Leng Yuan stood up immediately. ”You keep cooking. I’ll get it.”

With that, he walked out.

Opening the door, he was met with two smiling faces.

”Leng Yuan!”

SLAM.

The courtyard door was shut.

Aunt Leng was speechless.

’I haven’t even said anything yet!’
