Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 688: Chapter 687: Fabricated Faith

’I never knew the Divine Realm and the Demon Realm were formed this way.’ Moreover, Lin Yun had never even heard of the Ancient Golden Era or the Ancient Continent.

In his past life, Lin Yun’s understanding was that the Divine Realm was the one and only world, with the Demon Realm being a distant, separate place. Who could have imagined that ’Divine Realm’ and ’Demon Realm’ were merely the names of two factions coexisting on the same continent?

In this life, his knowledge of the Divine and Demon Realms was even more limited. It seemed the people of the Celestial Spirit Continent had no idea what the Divine Realm and Demon Realm even were.

”Are you surprised, little one?” the Cyan Dragon asked mildly, observing Lin Yun’s expression.

”Yes, I’m very surprised. Then what do the Celestial Spirit Four Symbols have to do with sealing the Divine and the Demons?” Lin Yun pressed. At his question, the Cyan Dragon continued its explanation.

People from the Divine and Demon Realms came to the Celestial Spirit Continent and began to indiscriminately capture its Martial Artists. At that time, the entire continent was gripped by panic.

As the four strongest individuals on the Celestial Spirit Continent, the Cyan Dragon and the others stepped forward and killed the Warriors sent by the Divine and Demon Realms.

However, the Divine and Demon Realms, which had by then become fully established, learned of their Warriors’ deaths and dispatched even more powerful Warriors to the Celestial Spirit Continent to eliminate the Cyan Dragon and his three companions.

In a series of major battles, the Cyan Dragon and his companions repelled several waves of Warriors from the Divine and Demon Realms. However, as their enemies sent increasingly powerful forces, the four of them realized this was not a sustainable solution. The Divine and Demon Realms had become far too powerful; the four of them could not handle it alone.

If they couldn’t win in a direct fight, only one option remained: destroy the Space Passage connecting the Divine Demon Continent to the Celestial Spirit Continent.

However, the Space Passage—built by the Divine and Demon Realms over countless years and at enormous cost—was incredibly stable. After several attempts, the Cyan Dragon and his companions were still unable to destroy it.

There were two such Space Passages from the Divine Demon Continent to the Celestial Spirit Continent: one constructed by the Divine Palace, the other by the Demon Palace. Since they couldn’t be destroyed, the only alternative was to seal them.

However, sealing these two passages required an immense amount of Energy. Furthermore, even if they succeeded, the Divine Palace and Demon Palace could simply shatter the seals and descend upon the Celestial Spirit Continent again.

Caught in a dilemma and with no other options, the Cyan Dragon and his companions contacted the upper echelons of the Divine and Demon Realms. The parties agreed to meet for negotiations at the Divine Demon Battlefield, located in the center of the Divine Demon Continent.

Attending these negotiations were not only the Cyan Dragon and his companions from the Celestial Spirit Continent, but also powerful experts from the other continents that had broken away.

It was only after everyone gathered at the Divine Demon Battlefield on the Divine Demon Continent that the Cyan Dragon learned the truth: the Divine and Demon Realms hadn’t just targeted the Celestial Spirit Continent. They had sent Warriors to all the other continents as well.

The original Ancient Continent had fractured into eleven pieces. The Divine Demon Continent was the largest, and besides the Celestial Spirit Continent, there were nine other similar landmasses.

The strongest experts from each of the ten other continents had come to the Divine Demon Battlefield to negotiate with the representatives of the Divine and Demon Realms.

As they waited on the Divine Demon Continent for the leaders of the Divine and Demon Realms to arrive, everyone discovered that the entire Divine Demon Continent had already been unified under their rule.

The power of the Divine and Demon Realms had far exceeded their imaginations. Realizing the extent of their development, the continental experts knew that no one could stop the coming war.

At the Divine Demon Battlefield, the experts from the ten continents held negotiations with the leaders of the Divine and Demon Realms.

The leaders of the Divine and Demon Realms took a hardline stance. They offered to help the experts from the ten continents seal the Space Passages, but on one condition: the lives of all those experts would be used as the Energy for the seals.

Furthermore, on these ten continents, anyone who broke through to the Celestial Saint Realm would sense a summons from either the Divine or Demon Realm. When that happened, these Celestial Saint Realm experts would have to choose either Divine Enthronement or to become a Fallen Demon, and immediately journey to the respective realm.

In other words, any Martial Artist on the ten continents who broke through to the Celestial Saint Realm was required to travel to the Divine Demon Continent. After the seals were in place, only those at or above the Celestial Saint Realm could traverse the passages.

Naturally, the experts from the ten continents refused this condition from the Divine Palace and the Demon Palace. However, in the face of their opposition, the Divine and Demon Realms were unyielding. It was a condition that had to be accepted. If they refused, the Divine and Demon Realms would destroy all ten of their continents.

They threatened to destroy the ten continents, and by that point, the Divine and Demon Realms already possessed the power to do so.

Left with no choice, the continental experts held a final discussion and agreed to the demands. They had one counter-proposal, however: when the Space Passages were sealed, an Array must be added to prevent anyone from the Divine and Demon Realms from entering.

After several arguments over this request, the Divine and Demon Realms eventually agreed, for reasons unknown.

This meant that the Space Passages on these ten continents could now only be traversed by those who had surpassed the Celestial Saint Realm. Anyone below that level was unable to pass through.

Furthermore, it meant that people from the Divine and Demon Realms could not enter the Space Passages, and thus had no way of traveling to the other ten continents.

With an agreement reached, the Divine and Demon Realms kept their word and helped the experts begin sealing the Space Passages.

On the Celestial Spirit Continent, the Energy required to seal the two Space Passages came from the very lives of Qing Zhu and his three companions. Thus, in the four corners of the continent, they used their lives to construct four palaces, which became the power source for the seal on the two Space Passages.

Having sacrificed their lives, the Cyan Dragon and his companions successfully sealed the Space Passages on the Celestial Spirit Continent. The other nine continents likely suffered the same fate, with their greatest experts giving their lives to seal their own passages to the Divine Demon Continent.

From then on, people from the Divine and Demon Realms could no longer enter the ten continents via the Space Passages. However, it was clear the Divine and Demon Realms had held something back.

This was because anyone on the ten continents who broke through to the Celestial Saint Realm would feel the pull of the Space Passage. And to exploit this summons, the Divine and Demon Realms fabricated a false system of belief.

The original Ancient Continent was now shattered, and the largest fragment, the Divine Demon Continent, was repackaged by the Divine and Demon Realms. They portrayed it as a higher realm to which Martial Artists ’ascended’ after reaching a certain level of power.

This fabricated belief led countless experts across the ten continents to think they were genuinely ascending to the Divine Realm and the Demon Realm.

For untold ages, whenever Celestial Saint Realm experts traveled through the Space Passages to the Divine Demon Continent, they and everyone they left behind believed they were ascending to a higher plane of existence.

Thus, the Divine and Demon Realms succeeded in fabricating a false faith across the ten continents.
