Invincible Snake Emperor

Chapter 639: Chapter 606: Demon Scourge

BOOM...

ROAR...

Throughout the entire safe zone, beastly roars echoed from all directions. The sounds were as sharp and haunting as a ghost’s wail, striking fear into the hearts of Wencheng’s citizens and making them tremble uncontrollably.

It was as if the end of the world had arrived.

How could this be? This was a safe zone. Why was a devastating disaster happening here?

A monstrous fish, as large as a ship, rampaged through a residential district. Wherever it went, it left a trail of destroyed homes and dead bodies. It constantly shrieked from its massive maw, ”Water, water, I need water...”

The sheer size of the monstrous fish stunned the nearby people, leaving them frozen in terror.

’Holy shit, is this an anime?’

”A Rank Two Cannibal Monster Fish. Thirty years ago, it continuously attacked passenger ships in a certain region of the sea, causing as many as ten thousand deaths. Later, a group of Awakened Martial Cultivators captured it from the ocean at great cost.”

The Vice-Director spoke softly, his expression growing increasingly grim.

”Help... Is anyone going to save us?”

In an instant, the desperate and terrified cries for help from the citizens echoed throughout the safe zone.

What was wrong with this world? Weren’t common folk like them allowed to live?

RUMBLE...!

Another giant foot began to stomp madly on the residential houses. This massive foot was even more terrifying than the hooves from before. With a single step, it crushed a hundred-odd citizens into a bloody pulp. There was nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.

The foot alone was over ten meters long and covered in yellow fur.

”Ah... Oh my god!” Many people looked up at the towering monster, so stunned they began to question their own reality.

’This monster is too big! It’s even larger than those Fierce Beasts. Is it a gorilla? It’s way bigger than the King Kong from American movies.’

No, it wasn’t a gorilla. It was an Ape. This Ape was enormous, towering over even skyscrapers that were dozens of stories high. It was a truly gigantic Ape, covered from head to toe in yellow fur.

Its eyes were like two enormous purple wheels. A single glance from them could unleash a massive ultraviolet ray, capable of instant annihilation.

The Qi Force faintly swirling around the Yellow-haired Giant Ape’s body caused the air to ripple and distort, while the very ground shook and trembled.

The Yellow-haired Giant Ape was so colossal that its terrifying figure could be seen from far outside Wencheng City. Its ferocity surpassed even that of a Fierce Beast.

Wherever it went, it left only ruins and rubble in its wake.

”A Mutated Purple-eyed Giant Ape... a Demon Spirit at the Pseudo Demon King Level,” the Vice-Director gasped. For a Demon Spirit of this combat strength to appear in the Wencheng safe zone meant utter annihilation.

”This is bad, this is very bad! Something’s happened at the Demon Prison! These are all Demons who were locked up inside—they’re all irredeemably evil and treat human life as worthless!”

The Vice-Director didn’t waste another moment talking. He shot off like a rocket, flying in a single direction and vanishing from Tu Xiao’an’s sight in an instant.

’Something happened at the Demon Prison?’ Tu Xiao’an didn’t follow, remaining where he was to ponder the situation.

At that moment, numerous Rank Two and Three Demons were wreaking havoc throughout the safe zone. Even in the sky, several giant, monstrous birds soared through the clouds, eyeing the people of Wencheng as their next delectable meal.

’Could it be that all the Demons in the Demon Prison have escaped?’

Tu Xiao’an immediately realized the gravity of the situation. Just moments ago, he had been discussing the release of the Demons from the prison with the Vice-Director. He never expected that in the blink of an eye, these same Demons would break out on their own and start wreaking havoc all over Wencheng.

’The Purple-eyed Great Ape King... what a powerful Ape,’ Tu Xiao’an thought, his gaze fixed on the terrifying creature in the distance. It was not the least bit inferior to the Ape King he had subdued, and its Cultivation had even reached the Pseudo Demon King Level.

Even if his own Ape King’s strength had surged, a fight against this one would likely be a toss-up. It was impossible to say who would win.

They were two completely different types of apes, but both possessed terrifying bloodlines, comparable to an Ancient Bloodline.

People spoke of the Eyes of Golden Flame, but this Ape had purple eyes. The power in its purple pupils was terrifying beyond compare; a single glance felt like a mountain crashing down on you.

The skies over Wencheng were once again thrown into turmoil. The Purple-eyed Giant Ape alone was more than enough to give the city’s residents a world of trouble, and that wasn’t even counting the numerous Rank Three Demon Spirits, nor the countless Rank Two Demons and other Awakened Creatures.

The Wencheng safe zone was instantly plunged into chaos, filled with the sounds of desperate wailing.

Tu Xiao’an scanned his surroundings and saw many massive Demons preying on the populace.

’How did it suddenly come to this...’

Wencheng’s Demon Prison was supposed to be impregnable—even the Deep Mountain Demon King couldn’t escape from it. Why had something suddenly gone wrong now, with all the Demons inside rushing out?

A thoughtful look crossed Tu Xiao’an’s face before his expression hardened with certainty. ’Someone must be behind this. They took advantage of the Fierce Beast attack, while the Demon Management Bureau was overwhelmed, to secretly open the prison.’

’Yes, that has to be it.’

’But who would be so audacious as to secretly open the Demon Prison and release the savage Demons inside? Do they want Wencheng to be destroyed?’

Wencheng was currently planning to turn foes into friends with the Demon Race and was preparing to empty the Demon Prison. But this was just a preliminary idea. It was a major undertaking, after all. Many of the Demons had been locked up for years and would need to be placated first.

If they were released rashly, they would surely unleash their resentment without restraint and seek revenge on humanity to settle old scores.

Now, as far as the eye could see, Demons were rampaging throughout the city. Their bodies swelled to immense sizes as they unleashed years of pent-up resentment.
