Starting With an SSS-Rank Swordsmanship Talent

Just when the spirit arrows were about to hit Alaric, Vulcan appeared out of nowhere with a broken shield in his hand.

Grunting, the barbarian warrior blocked all the spirit arrows that were about to fall on Alaric.

Argh!

Vulcan grimaced. The spirit arrows penetrated the broken shield and pierced through his arms, but he ignored the pain and kept the shield in front to protect Alaric.

“You will have to step over my dead body first before you can kill him!” He roared.

At some point, the broken shield was torn apart and all the spirit arrows fell upon Vulcan’s body.

Schhk! Schkk!

The spirit arrows penetrated through his flesh and left bloody holes that made him bleed profusely. However, he stubbornly resisted until the last spirit arrow struck his chest.

He staggered and fell on his knees, gasping for breath.

At this moment, Alaric had gathered enough energy to release his sword strike.

With one powerful swing, he slashed out his sword.

Whoosh!

His attack carried an immensely dominant force that destroyed everything in its path.

This terrifying sword energy struck the half-kobold monster’s body with a ’bam’!

What followed was a deafening explosion that shook the grasslands.

Everyone was forced to cover their ears with mana. The residual force also pushed them back a couple of steps.

When the dust settled, everyone was startled.

In front of them was a long crack that stretched hundreds of meters, as if an immortal had cleaved the land with his sword!

It was an unbelievable sight.

As for the half-kobold monster, it was lying in its own pool of blood, and a huge portion of its lower body was missing.

Its eyes were wide open, but it was no longer breathing.

It was dead.

Meanwhile, Alaric had also collapsed on the ground, his condition unknown.

There was a brief moment of silence.

This was more shocking than what they had witnessed earlier.

There was never a time when a Transcendent Knight had killed a Catastrophe-grade monster. It was a common logic that everyone gradually learned to accept. However, today, it has been proven to be wrong.

After a moment of shock, the injured Garandel recovered his senses.

“Quick! Find our healers and have them treated!” He shouted as he carried his injured body towards the Alaric and Vulcan.

In his haste, he stumbled and almost fell to the ground, but a hand caught him just in time.

“Your Majesty! Let me help you.” It was Rosalie, the Grand Elder of the Greenwood Kingdom and a 3-Ringed Beast Soul Master.

She was also present throughout the entire battle so she witnessed everything that had unfolded.

Until now, she was still reeling in shock.

The young human warrior who had helped them back then had already transformed into a formidable warrior that even she had to look up to.

The unexpected twist of fate left her with a sense of incredulity.

“Thank you…” Garandel mumbled weakly.

The elven king was also nearly killed in that battle. His strong physical body saved his life.

A group of healers came to treat the injured, but everyone unanimously agreed to prioritize Alaric and Vulcan for the treatment.

“How are they?” Garandel asked while looking at the healers.

One of them answered, his face looking grim. “Commander Vulcan is not in good condition. He lost too much blood and his energy core is exhausted. The silver lining is that none of his vital organs are damaged. He can still be treated, but it will take a long time before he can recover.”

“As for His Highness Alaric…” the healer seemed hesitant to speak.

“Spit it out!” Garandel furrowed his eyebrows, the volume of his voice rising.

“He overstimulated his energy core which caused it to fracture. This also brought severe damage to his internal organs. Treatment is almost impossible and even if he miraculously recovered, there is a high chance that his strength would deteriorate.”

Garandel’s face fell upon hearing this.

It wasn’t just him, everyone’s faces darkened.

To a warrior, their strength was equivalent to their lives. Many would rather commit suicide than live as a cripple for the rest of their life.

“Is there no hope for him to recover?” A concerned voice drifted into everyone’s ears.

Everyone turned their heads and saw Lucas walking unsteadily towards them using his sword as a crutch.

The healers glanced at each other, shaking their heads. They didn’t say anything, but everyone understood what that meant.

Lucas fell on his knees upon hearing this.

“Alaric… my son…” Overcome with emotions, the voice of the mighty venerable trembled.

Garandel approached Lucas, his face filled with guilt and remorse. “I’m sorry, Lucas… It’s all my fault… If only…”

Lucas raised his hand and forced a smile. “Please don’t say such things. We chose to help you because we are allies. You don’t need to blame yourself.”

Ashamed, Garandel covered his face to hide his tears.

“Your Majesty…” Rosalie stared at the elven king with a deep sigh.

Boom!

A loud explosion interrupted the atmosphere.

Lucas raised his head and lifted his weary body.

“The battle isn’t over yet. There are still thousands of monsters in the nest. Let’s talk once everything is settled.” He spoke before he headed in the direction of the commotion.

Hearing this, Garandel sent everyone a look and said. “For those of you who can still fight, please follow me to eliminate the remaining monsters! The rest will stay here to guard our injured comrades.”

“Yes, Your Majesty!”

With that, the warriors who still had the energy to spare, rushed towards the nest to kill the remaining monster.

Another gruesome battle followed, but this time, there was no powerful monster to stop them.

Everyone was fueled by their rage. The deaths of their comrades filled them with strength.

In the next few hours, thousands upon thousands of monsters were annihilated. Even the young and old weren’t spared. It was a total massacre!

What remained of the monster nest was also set ablaze. A fearsome flame engulfed the complex cave systems, obliterating everything.
