The Celestial Aurora arena roared with life as tournament day one finally began.

Thousands of elves, humans, and beastpeople filled the tiered marble seats, creating a vibrant sea of color and noise.

The energy crackled through the morning air like electricity.

Kane stood proudly in the center of the vast sand pit, rolling his shoulders to loosen his muscles.

Sunlight beat down on his bare chest, warming his skin while he listened to the deafening cheers echoing across the stadium.

The grand games were exactly as loud and chaotic as he remembered from the games.

The wooden gates on the opposite side of the ring creaked open.

Contestant 47 walked out into the sunlight.

She was a tall, powerfully built female beastman covered in tiger stripes, and her fierce amber eyes scanned the noisy crowd with obvious disdain.

She wore simple leather armor that clung tightly to her athletic curves.

To the untrained eye, she looked like a random, unpolished mercenary who had somehow wandered into the wrong fighting bracket.

A wave of mocking laughter rippled through the elven nobility sitting in the expensive tiers.

The arena announcer leaned into his magical amplification crystal.

”It seems the savage from the southern woods has drawn the weakest possible opponent,” the commentator declared, his voice filled with typical elven condescension.

”Let’s hope this match lasts longer than a single breath, for the sake of our entertainment.”

Kane didn’t draw his weapon.

He kept his hands relaxed at his sides, watching her walk slowly toward the center of the ring.

He realized almost immediately why the system had issued a warning the night before.

Her footwork was too precise for a low-level brawler.

She placed her foot softly on the sand, distributing her weight perfectly to avoid making any unnecessary sound.

Her breathing was measured and controlled, matching the exact rhythm of a seasoned killer.

This was not a random beastwoman hoping for a lucky win against a noble.

She was a highly trained fighter, deliberately hiding her true abilities from the public.

’System, let’s see what she is hiding,’ Kane thought, keeping a lazy smirk on his face.

[Participant Scan Initiated]

[Target: Kessa of the Tigerblood Tribe]

[True Level: 38 - Concealed]

[Ability: Bloodrage Form - Physical stats triple when activated]

[Note: Target is deliberately sandbagging her registration rank]

’Level thirty-eight,’ Kane mused, his grin widening as he read the blue text.

’She is playing the same game I am. A fellow cheater is trying to hustle the arrogant elves out of their coin. This is going to be very fun.’

A loud, resounding gong echoed across the stadium to signal the official start of the match.

Ding!

Kessa didn’t hesitate for a fraction of a second.

She exploded off her back foot and charged straight at him, moving much faster than anyone in the mocking crowd anticipated.

She threw a blistering combination of punches aimed right at his jaw and ribs.

Kane slipped under her first hook with casual movements.

He sidestepped her second strike and leaned backward just enough to let her spinning kick sail harmlessly over his head.

There was no need to draw his axe.

He simply danced around her attacks, reading her combat patterns while the crowd began to murmur in genuine confusion.

She was exceptionally fast, but his high agility stat allowed him to track her movements with perfect clarity.

He treated her deadly assault like a playful morning warm-up.

Kessa growled in deep frustration.

She realized her basic attacks were not going to touch this smiling barbarian, so she stopped holding back completely.

Her heels dug into the sand as she let out a deafening roar.

The muscles in her arms visibly expanded, ripping the seams of her leather armor to expose more of her striped skin.

Her amber eyes glowed with predatory power as she activated her Bloodrage Form. The speed doubled instantly, and she lunged forward with enough power to crack the stone tiles hidden beneath the soft sand.

Kane finally reached over his shoulder.

He closed his fingers around the hilt of his newly forged weapon and pulled Mjoldr free.

Primal Resonance activated instantly, matching the thrumming pulse of his racing heart.

Thump... Thump...

A crimson aura erupted from the steel blade, washing over the sunlit arena with a menacing, bloody glow.

The murmuring crowd instantly fell dead silent.

”What is... that?”

Even the arrogant announcer stopped speaking because the unsettling energy radiating from the barbarian was impossible to ignore.

Kessa swung a vicious fist toward his face.

Kane parried the strike with the flat of his blade, feeling the immense power behind her punch vibrating up his arm.

Bang.

He didn’t retreat a single inch. He stepped into her guard and went on the immediate offensive.

Kane moved with blinding speed, utilizing his twin axe combat skills even with a single weapon.

He swung Mjoldr in a controlled arc. The dull edge of his axe smacked hard against her left shoulder.

He spun smoothly on his foot, using the momentum to catch her right thigh with a secondary strike.

Kessa gasped in pain and tried to counter with a sweeping claw attack, but Kane ducked under her swinging arm and delivered the final blow.

He drove the butt of his weapon directly into her sternum.

Three perfect strikes.

Bam. Bam. Bam.

[Hidden Property Activated: Soul Brand]

[Target defenses shattered permanently]

The energy flared brightly, surging from his axe straight into her chest.

Kessa gasped as her protective aura shattered into a million sparkling fragments, dissolving into the wind.

Her unnatural strength vanished in a heartbeat, leaving her completely vulnerable and exhausted.

Kane hooked his axe around her ankle and pulled sharply.

”Ugh!”

She crashed hard onto her back, staring up at the blue sky while Kane placed the red blade gently against her throat.

He had dismantled her offensive strategy in one flawless movement.

Kessa lay there panting, her eyes wide with absolute shock.

She fully expected him to finish the job or gloat loudly over her broken body, because that was how arena fighters usually behaved.

Instead, Kane pulled his axe away and slid it seamlessly back into his holster.

The menacing red glow vanished, returning the arena to normal sunlight.

He extended his large, calloused hand toward her.

’She fought well,’ Kane thought, looking down at the bewildered tiger woman.

’She’s strong enough to be very useful, and she hates these stuck-up elves just as much as I do. I should definitely recruit her before some noble tries to buy her contract.’

”You put up a good fight,” Kane said, his voice calm.

”Get up.”

Kessa hesitated for a long moment, searching his face for any sign of a trick.

Finding nothing but genuine respect, she reached up and grabbed his hand.

Kane hauled her effortlessly back to her feet.

The thousands of spectators sitting in the stands didn’t cheer, but didn’t boo either.

They were simply too stunned by the brutal efficiency of the unknown barbarian who just humiliated a powerful beastman without breaking a sweat.

High above the arena floor, sitting comfortably in the royal viewing box, Prince Aelrindor leaned forward in his gilded chair.

The elven prince rested his chin on his knuckles, watching Kane with interested eyes.

This tournament had finally produced a worthy distraction.
