Chapter 2407  Towards the World Island! Purple Flame True God! (2)

This misunderstanding was escalating!

However, it worked in his favor, and he saw no need to foolishly try to explain it away. Let the misconception linger a little longer.

”So, having me as your guardian is more than adequate. I am the highest-ranking guardian of the Virtual Universe Corporation. A true god wouldnʼt deign to serve as a guardian for anyone,” Rofort concluded.

An eternal-stage ruler as my guardian! Wang Teng took a deep breath. It was hard to deny the allure of such an offer.

What were genius martial warriors most afraid of?

They feared the shameless attacks of senior martial warriors, something that many prodigies couldnʼt withstand.

Countless geniuses were assassinated in the universe year-round.

Like Elder Hui from the Heishan Royal Clan. If Wang Teng didnʼt have enough skills and strength, he wouldnʼt have been able to stop Elder Hui. Perishing would have been inevitable.

”I wonder what I need to give in return after signing this contract?” Wang Teng composed himself and calmly inquired.

”Please refer to the last page!” Rofort gestured casually, and the holographic screen changed, a faint smile playing on his lips.

All the previous terms vanished, leaving only a few sparse clauses.

These remaining clauses werenʼt about the benefits Wang Teng would receive but rather what he must contribute.

Wang Teng focused his attention, his brows furrowing and then relaxing intermittently.

”Our requirements are simple. In the future, the Virtual Universe Corporation will issue some tasks, which may require the intervention of talented martial warriors like yourself,” Rofort explained. ”Of course, these tasks are not mandatory. You have the autonomy to choose. However, before reaching the heaven stage, you must complete three tasks within ten years. This is a mandatory benchmark.”

”As your strength advances to the universe stage or even the eternal stage, the time limit will increase accordingly. Universe-stage martial warriors only need to complete ten tasks within a century, while eternal-stage martial warriors have a thousand years to complete five tasks.”

”Of course, if you wish to undertake more tasks on your own accord, the Virtual Universe Corporation wonʼt hinder you. The more tasks you complete, the greater the rewards youʼll receive.”

”Before reaching the heaven stage, I have to complete three tasks within ten years. For the universe stage, it will be ten tasks within 100 years, which averages to one task every ten years. For the eternal stage, that will be five tasks within a thousand years, averaging one task every 200 years.” Wang Teng nodded. This requirement wasnʼt unreasonable and seemed quite fair.

With the Virtual Universe Corporation investing so much, it was only natural they would expect returns. Offering such lenient terms was already quite generous.

”In reality, by offering you the god-stage prodigy contract, it shows that the Virtual Universe Corporation regards you as one of their own, aiming to nurture you. Naturally, we wouldnʼt want to see you perish easily. We hope for your smooth growth into a true god. That way, the Virtual Universe Corporation gains more, and itʼs a win-win situation for both parties,” Rofort remarked with a smile.

”Would signing this contract conflict with the Seven Stellar Academies?” Wang Teng inquired.

”Under normal circumstances, it shouldnʼt conflict. The academies are sanctuaries for nurturing warriors, and you arenʼt under their jurisdiction. Every year, we sign contracts with numerous talented warriors from the academies. Some prodigies were granted the god-stage prodigy contract ages ago. However, those prodigies usually remain loyal to their academies to avoid misunderstandings,” Rofort explained.

”I donʼt have any doubts about the other aspects. If thatʼs the case, Iʼll contact my president to inquire about his opinion,” Wang Teng said.

”Very well, do you need me to step aside?” Rofort asked.

”No need, itʼs just a question,” Wang Teng replied, then instructed Round Ball to contact the president of the Seventh Stellar Academy.

After the disciple ceremony, Wang Teng had acquired the presidentʼs contact information. Since the president himself had agreed to it, there was no harm in occasionally seeking his advice. This privilege wasnʼt granted without reason.

However, just before this moment, Wang Tengʼs eyes flickered, and his complexion suddenly turned pale, a look of extreme weakness overtaking his features. Rofort couldnʼt help but feel puzzled. What was this guy up to?

Suddenly, the holographic screen shimmered, and the communication with the president was quickly established.

”Wang Teng, I heard you caused quite a stir on the Five Burial Stars,” the presidentʼs image appeared on the screen. He was smiling warmly.

”President, Iʼm in a terrible state!” Wang Teng cried out suddenly, his voice filled with despair.

Rofort: …

President: …

Both were among the most formidable beings in the universe, yet at this moment, they found themselves at a loss for words, bewildered by Wang Tengʼs behavior.

Particularly Rofort, who had just witnessed Wang Tengʼs cheerful demeanor moments ago, was now confronted with a completely different face - one of misery and despair.

The stark contrast was too overwhelming, leaving even this eternal-stage ruler somewhat bewildered.

Geniuses, by nature, cherished their dignity. Yet Wang Teng seemed to defy convention, showing no concern for his pride and even displaying a hint of shamelessness.

”Wait! Hold on! Whatʼs the matter? Just tell me straight, donʼt try to play the victim,” the president said, his frustration evident.

”President, itʼs your fault! Iʼm not playing the victim. Iʼm truly suffering!” Wang Teng wailed, ”You know about what happened on the Five Burial Stars, right? An eternal-stage ruler attacked me! Iʼm badly injured, and I havenʼt recovered yet. Iʼm in so much pain… sob… sob…”

The presidentʼs frustration grew as the lines on his forehead multiplied. He was almost at his witsʼ end.
