Fully Leveled Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1068: Chapter 1068: Ying Xi’s Restlessness

If it weren’t for this rain, Shu Yu’s plan for today would have been to not enter the city and head directly to the next county town to stay overnight.

Ying Xi wiped his face again and drove the carriage straight to Shangyang Prefecture.

There was almost no one on the road, and there was no need to queue at the city gate.

The carriage quickly entered the prefecture. At this time, they couldn’t bother with whether the guesthouse was good or not and found one that looked relatively clean not far from the city gate to stop.

The waiter of the guesthouse hurriedly greeted them, “Honored guest, are you here for a meal or to stay at the inn?”

Shu Yu got out of the carriage, “We need an upper room.”

“Alright.” The waiter immediately turned his head and shouted inside, then took the reins from Ying Xi’s hand and led them to the backyard stable.

Shu Yu and Ying Xi carried their belongings and entered the guesthouse, brushing off the water droplets from their bodies.

The shopkeeper behind the counter looked at them in surprise, not expecting two such young girls to stay at the inn.

He looked around uncertainly, and indeed, there was no one else.

These two girls are quite bold, daring to travel far on their own. Could they have run away from home?

The shopkeeper pondered in his heart, his hands moving nonstop. After setting up the room, he let the waiter lead them upstairs.

Shu Yu handed over the money and went straight to a room at the corner on the second floor.

The room wasn’t very big, but traveling away from home, one couldn’t expect too much.

Shu Yu entered the room, and Ying Xi placed the bundle down and said, “Miss, you rest for a while. I’ll go to the kitchen and get some hot water.”

“Mm.”

Shu Yu felt very uncomfortable, not only sticky from being drenched by the rain but also the discomfort from sweating in the hot weather.

When Ying Xi returned with the water, they both wiped themselves down and changed clothes, finally feeling somewhat better.

The rain outside showed no sign of stopping as Shu Yu opened the window to look at the street outside.

The entire street was empty, with only one or two people occasionally running through the rain, splashing water everywhere.

Unable to continue the journey, Shu Yu could only stay in the guesthouse and examine the map.

She originally planned to travel by land, as rushing all the way by land would be faster and freer than by water.

But the weather clearly didn’t allow for that; it rained every few days. If it was just a brief shower, it would be fine, but if it seemed like it would rain for days like now, then she wouldn’t be able to set out at all.

Since she decided to travel by water, she’d have to change her route.

Shu Yu pointed and traced on the map, occasionally speaking with Ying Xi. As they chatted, Ying Xi suddenly fell silent.

Startled, Shu Yu looked up, seeing Ying Xi deep in thought, staring at the map without moving.

Shu Yu raised her eyebrows. It was rare to see Ying Xi with such an expression.

She simply put down the charcoal pencil and stared at her for a long moment.

Ying Xi snapped back to reality, “Miss, what is it?”

“I should be asking you that. What are you thinking about, so absorbed?” Shu Yu chuckled, “Since there’s nothing to do, tell me, what is worrying you so much?”

Ying Xi shook her head quickly, “No, nothing.”

“If you don’t tell me, I might get upset.”

Ying Xi, “…” What kind of miss threatens her maid like this?

But as Shu Yu’s face turned serious, it really made her a bit afraid. She thought for a moment and said, “It’s nothing, I just didn’t expect to pass by Huajiang Prefecture on this trip.”
