Gun of Ashes

What awaited here was not a pope waiting for slaughter but armies bearing Secret Blood.

”It’s possible, anything is possible. I’m the Lucky Red Falcon. Maybe the Sailing Dawn will appear above us soon, and countless Armor of Original Sin will parachute directly here.”

Red Falcon started talking nonsense.

”We will all survive, be showered with honor, then occupy Maruri, and with the Armor of Original Sin, march all the way to the capital of Gaulunaro.”

He gradually lost his strength. As much as he didn’t want to, he slowly sat down.

”Ah... if a miracle is going to happen, let it happen quickly!”

Red Falcon shouted just as the gunfire that had just saved Eve rang out again, very close by, firing from nearby.

Bullets poured forth, piercing through the bodies of several warriors. They hesitated a bit, but then one head after another exploded before their eyes.

”I told you my aim was accurate.”

A woman’s voice sounded.

In such dim, chaotic circumstances, achieving headshot after headshot is no easy feat. If Eve had such skills, she would have killed Miguel in the shooting just now.

”So, how many have unknowingly died by your assassination?” the man inquired.

”Not sure, it’s just work anyway.”

The woman’s tone carried a hint of lightness.

”Now I’m unemployed, and what I want to do is kill them all.”

Erin and Hebdo appeared at the end of the line of sight, the lighting was somewhat blurry, Eve couldn’t see them clearly, but their outlines seemed equally exhausted.

”Truly miraculous, Red Falcon, a turning point has come!”

Eve perked up a bit; she started to believe Red Falcon really was a lucky guy, with someone coming to save them even in such dire situations.

”What turning point! What good is it with them coming? Can they change the situation?”

Red Falcon didn’t feel any joy. Instead, he was worried.

Indeed, Erin and Hebdo couldn’t change the situation. Only a monster like Lorenzo could truly turn things around, but Lorenzo wasn’t here.

Lorenzo hadn’t appeared with Erin and the others... Had something gone wrong after all?

”Run away! Don’t come here! It’s just suicide!”

Red Falcon shouted loudly. Erin and Hebdo weren’t surrounded by the warriors yet, they still had a chance of survival.

But the two of them acted as if they hadn’t heard Red Falcon’s words, drawing closer and firing continuously.

”Get ready, Eve. I’ll find a way to get you out. Leave with them.”

Red Falcon seemed to have made some sort of decision, standing up again, shakily.

”You... what do you mean?”

Eve vaguely guessed, wanted to say something else, but seeing both the new and old wounds on Red Falcon’s body, ended up saying nothing at all.

”Go on.” Red Falcon said.

This was no time for chit-chat; the warriors were charging, and it was only a matter of time before they were killed.

Red Falcon gripped his Folding Blade; he felt a strange sensation, similar to Hu ao at this moment.

He felt like he was a hero, much like during the time in Black Mountain Hospital. Thinking this, he found himself quite handsome.

If that’s the case...

”Come on!”

Red Falcon shouted firmly.

There are moments when you face countless enemies alone... Well, this was a scene from a knight novel Red Falcon read back then, and since then he thought, if he were to die, it must be in such a scenario.

That was why there was the fearless charge at Black Mountain Hospital, yet mysteriously, Red Falcon survived in the end, and now he was reenacting all of this.

The warriors gradually closed in, but Red Falcon was fearless. The distance shortened until just as he was about to raise his arm to slash, the roar of thunder cut through the battlefield.

Blazing white flames soared, accompanied by rolling thunder. A dark shadow fell from the sky, crashing hard onto the ground, blood splattering everywhere.

This change made the situation stall bizarrely. Everyone’s gaze focused there, and then a figure wobbled up.

The body was covered in countless wounds, each one deep into the bone, revealing slowly writhing flesh beneath. Limbs were twisted at unnatural angles, as if the bones had been shattered.

The body was battered beyond repair, yet that person had not died, wobbling as if their soul had been drained.

Miguel’s gaze filled with fear as he recognized the broken figure in the dust; he never thought someone so powerful would become like this.

Then what kind of monster had wounded him so?

Thunder echoed Miguel’s question. Brilliant lightning cut across the battlefield, striking the broken man precisely, sending him crashing into the stone pillar standing in the plaza, followed by more lightning.

Sharp Nail Swords pierced through Lawrence’s body, nailing him to the pillar, and then fierce flames erupted, consuming the body.

Dawn arrived.

Boundless light rose from the depths of darkness, illuminating the desperate battlefield. The light was so piercing that the warriors couldn’t help but close their eyes, not daring to look directly at it.

Red Falcon was initially dazed until the blinding light brought tears to his eyes. He finally snapped back and started to shout.

”Whoa, whoa, whoa!”

He was probably too excited; he couldn’t even form a coherent sentence.

The Lucky Red Falcon didn’t need to die; the Lucky Red Falcon survived once again.

Accompanying the light came a stifling erosion. Hu ao barely raised his head and saw the man nailed to the pillar. He remembered that mask—it was the noble Dean Lawrence, and then he looked at the endless light.

It’s not light, it’s darkness, absolute darkness that would destroy the Orthodoxy, destroy the beauty in Hu ao’s life.

”If not for the Night of the Holy Arrival... if not for these events, perhaps you would be the next Dean, Lorenzo Holmes.”

On the pillar, beneath the broken body, such a voice resounded.

”Ah... maybe, who cares about such things?”

Lorenzo said, shaking his head. He held the Nail Sword, moving forward slowly, stepping over the burning ruins.
