Gun of Ashes

Tonight is destined to be sleepless, with the door tightly shut, the sound of water splashing outside in the corridor, and the occasional clear sound of vomiting.

This operation was carried out outside of Ingwig’s territory, and everything abroad was handed over to Nordro. It could be said that the entire White Tide vessel exists, to some extent, for Lorenzo and his group.

This area was temporarily sealed off under the pretext of a technical failure, while Nordro’s personnel washed down the bloodstained corridor, carrying away corpses one by one, throwing them into the deep sea.

No one could figure out what had just happened here; it felt like a furious beast had been feeding here, leaving severed limbs everywhere. They couldn’t even piece together a complete body. Some people just couldn’t bear the overwhelming smell of blood and started retching.

Inside the room, everyone was awake. Although it was already late at night, no one could fall asleep after experiencing all this.

Hebdo stood at the door, holding a weapon. Although the enemy had been dealt with, no one knew whether there were still Choir enemies on the White Tide vessel.

Eve was assisting the ship doctor, Erin was placed in the living room where they had set up a temporary operating table. After some time, the ship doctor extracted a twisted bullet from Erin’s wound.

”Fortunately, the rescue was timely. She’s just lost some blood and will be in a coma for a while, but I don’t know exactly when she’ll wake up.”

The ship doctor spoke as he wiped the sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief.

”A strong child, she doesn’t seem to want to die, she’s held on until now.”

”Thank you, doctor.”

Hebdo said, then gestured the ship doctor to leave.

The ship doctor understood the current situation very well. Although the corridor was already sealed when he arrived, the scent of blood lingering in the air was so clear that he guessed the blood loss was astonishing.

After leaving some medication for Erin, the ship doctor left, and only they were left in the room.

Lorenzo, who had been silent all along, slowly opened his mouth.

”So, she is Gloria Jackson?”

Lorenzo asked Red Falcon, who was sitting not far from Erin with a somewhat complex expression. Overwhelmed by everything that had suddenly happened, looking at that familiar face, Red Falcon could only stiffly nod his head.

”Gloria? I guess this is just one of her aliases.”

Hebdo, well acquainted with this old friend, approached Erin, looking at her somewhat pale face.

”It seems Erin had her eyes on us from the beginning and followed us onto the ship.” Hebdo’s gaze fell on Red Falcon.

Red Falcon didn’t know how to defend himself, feeling a little headache. Everything happened too fast, and he was still immersed in that beautiful encounter. But then came all this bloodshed, and the woman he loved was lying in front of him, covered in blood and also his enemy.

”I...my fault, I was too careless.”

Red Falcon reflected; this was an extremely dangerous operation, and he shouldn’t have gone fishing for that damned fish from the start.

”No, it’s not Red Falcon’s fault,” Lorenzo said. ”Erin wasn’t discovered by Red Falcon... she had been watching us from the beginning, back in Old Dunling, she was at the Winchester Law Firm.”

Others couldn’t sense it, but Lorenzo could; the Demon Hunter’s keen senses could easily detect such subtle differences.

In that heavy scent of blood, there was a trace of cold fragrance.

At the time in the law firm, that masked woman also had the same scent, and the work she wanted to commission Lorenzo was also related to Gaulunaro.

”So what exactly does she want to do?” Red Falcon asked with some confusion.

His gaze remained fixed on Erin’s face. Red Falcon’s emotions were complex, not just the previous admiration, but also fear and anger. He wasn’t sure if his encounter with Erin was a deliberate performance, whether all the previous things were her disguise.

He was almost... almost caught in her trap.

”I don’t know, but let me give you a piece of advice, stay away from this woman, no one can guess what she’s thinking.”

Hebdo suffered losses before and warned Red Falcon once again.

”She came to find us... to seek our help.” Lorenzo analyzed.

Clearly, from the recent battle, it could be seen that the Choir’s soldiers didn’t know Lorenzo’s whereabouts. Their target had always been Erin, and Erin obviously couldn’t fight against these reinforced soldiers, so she pinned her hopes on herself.

It’s unclear if this was a plea for help or leading misfortune to others, but at least Erin succeeded; she temporarily survived.

”Help?” Hebdo was full of vigilance towards Erin. ”No matter what, let’s control her first.”

Hebdo didn’t care about these things. To him, all disputes and conflicts originated from this damn woman in front of him. If it weren’t for her being somewhat useful, he would absolutely ensure she died a painful death.

Lorenzo didn’t stop him, just looked gravely at everything.

Hebdo used a rope to tie Erin’s hands for the time being. In truth, thinking about it, this woman had no capacity for action at the moment; she was severely injured, with excessive blood loss.

”And then?”

Hebdo asked, hoping Lorenzo would say something as he was the actual leader of this operation.

”Sleep,” Lorenzo said.
