Bloodline Plant Lord: Rise of the World Sovereign

That night, Ren sat cross-legged on his bed with the lights off and the curtains open. The city glowed through the window — hover lanes, tower lights, the faint pulse of the district’s energy grid. Quiet noise from a world that had no idea what had been happening inside a sealed annex all week.

He closed his eyes and started cultivating.

He hadn’t had a proper session in days. The assessment had eaten all his time and energy, and the careful output-control he’d been running had left his channels stressed in a way that raw cultivation wasn’t supposed to cause. Holding back was harder than pushing forward. His body knew that now.

But the assessment had done something useful too. Seven days of constant pressure, energy testing, and high-output drills had pushed his foundation deeper than weeks of normal training would have. It was like the difference between lifting weights in a gym and carrying real loads uphill — the gym was controlled, but the hill was real, and real pressure made you stronger faster.

He settled into the breathing pattern — the optimized version, the Ren Valis Version — and let natural energy flow into his root channels.

The cultivation went smoothly. Almost too smoothly. Energy moved through his channels the way water runs through a well-built pipe system: clean, fast, no resistance, no leaks. His root network had spread fully through his body over the past two weeks, reaching into every muscle group, every bone, every layer of tissue. The seed at his center pulsed steadily, drawing energy in, processing it, feeding it back out.

Kaia was warm and quiet through the whole session. A steady presence, like someone sitting in the same room while you worked. Not distracting. Just there.

After about an hour, Ren opened his eyes and checked his status screen.

Name: Ren Valis

Age: 18

Talent: Bloodline Plant Lord

Lifeform Tier: 1

Pathway Level: Germination Stage (Peak)

Peak Germination. The number had changed.

He stared at it for a moment. It wasn’t a dramatic shift — no explosion of power, no blinding light, no cosmic revelation. His body felt the same as it had an hour ago, just a little more settled. A little more complete. Like a house that had been under construction for weeks and had finally had the last beam put in place. The structure was finished. Solid. Ready for whatever came next.

He pulled up OPTIMIZE.

OPTIMIZE.

Target: Cultivation routine — full re-tune for current state.

Status: Peak Germination confirmed. Root network fully deployed. Energy channels operating at maximum efficiency for current stage. Foundation quality: exceptional — top 0.1% of recorded Germination-stage cultivators.

Sprout Stage requirements: The breakthrough from Germination to Sprout requires integration of genetic materials from plants, beasts, and rare substances. Most materials can only be found in Secret Realms and must be absorbed on-site. Cultivation alone will not trigger the breakthrough. External materials are mandatory.

Recommendation: Maintain current foundation. Do not force the transition. Acquire appropriate materials when opportunity arises. The Life-and-Death Beetle in Spatial Storage is a viable integration candidate at Sprout Stage — monitor for further resonance events.

Routine adjustment: Applied. Energy circulation pattern re-tuned for peak-stage maintenance and pre-Sprout preparation. Estimated improvement: 12% more efficient energy cycling, reduced channel strain.

Ren let the screen fade and leaned back against the wall. Twelve percent. That didn’t sound like much on paper, but in practice it meant his daily cultivation sessions would be noticeably faster, and the strain from the assessment week would clear up in a day or two instead of a week.

The System was good at what it did. He had to give it that.

But the more important information was the Sprout requirements. He couldn’t just cultivate his way to Stage 3 — he needed materials from a Secret Realm. Specific genetic materials from plants and beasts that could only be absorbed inside the realm itself. That meant another realm trip, which meant access, which meant either going through the Explorer Guild again or finding another way in.

And then there was the Beetle. OPTIMIZE had flagged it as a viable integration candidate, which matched what he already knew from his research. The crystallized Life-and-Death Beetle, carrying the laws of Life and Death, waiting in frozen storage for the moment his seed evolved into a sprout and could actually absorb it.

The thought was exciting and terrifying in roughly equal parts.

He looked out the window at the city lights. Somewhere out there, six other Bloodline Plant Lords were probably going through their own versions of this moment — checking their progress, thinking about what came next, wondering how far they could push before the world pushed back. Kaelen was probably cultivating in a private training room filled with expensive materials his family had shipped in. Lyra was probably doing the same exercises she’d been doing since Awakening, making the most of what she had. Iris was probably reviewing every data point from the assessment and building a plan.

And none of them knew what Ren was carrying. The System. Kaia. The Beetle. The optimized foundation that put him in the top fraction of a percent at his stage. The growing list of secrets that got heavier every week.

’Peak Germination,’ he thought. ’A month ago I was a guy who had just woken up in another world. Now I’m one realm trip away from Stage 3, carrying a Rare Substance with two laws in my pocket, hiding a sentient plant spirit, and trying not to get caught by a teacher who’s smarter than me.’

He almost laughed.

”What a life,” he muttered to the empty apartment.

Kaia pulsed once. Warm. Amused, maybe. Or maybe that was just him projecting.

He closed his eyes and went back to cultivating. The results would come tomorrow. Whatever Selene had decided about him, whatever the final rankings looked like, whatever came after — he would deal with it then.

For now, he was peak Germination. His foundation was locked. And the road to Sprout was open.

He just had to survive long enough to walk it.

Author’s Note: Peak Germination reached — Ren’s foundation is fully locked and the path to Sprout Stage is clear. But he’ll need realm materials and the Beetle integration to cross that line. Final assessment results drop next Chapter. Thanks for reading!
