Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

As evening gradually fell, a crescent moon rose, casting its pale glow over the sea, transforming its surface into shimmering scales of silver, a scene of ethereal beauty.

On a small island within this region, a campfire burned warmly. Lin Langtian and the three Liu brothers quietly sat around the fire, roasting freshly caught fish that released a mouth-watering aroma.

”Sect Master,” Liu Da spoke softly as he turned the fish, ”Those people we met during the day appeared to be an elite squad from the Blood Demon Shark Clan. It seemed they were searching for something.”

Lin Langtian narrowed his eyes thoughtfully but then shook his head. ”Whatever they’re searching for has nothing to do with us.”

Liu Da nodded approvingly, respectfully handing Lin Langtian a cooked fish. Just as Lin Langtian was about to eat, the unmistakable sound of someone swallowing saliva echoed nearby.

”Who’s there?!”

The sudden noise startled Lin Langtian, prompting him to raise his head sharply. At the same moment, Liu Da and his brothers leaped up, immediately scanning the surroundings with vigilance.

Not far away, atop a tall tree, stood a small girl wearing a blue cotton outfit. Her large, curious eyes stared unblinkingly at the roasted fish in Lin Langtian’s hand.

She seemed quite young, with features delicate and perfect as porcelain, two pigtails tied neatly atop her head, adding to her innocent charm.

Lin Langtian stared into her eyes briefly before noting how they kept wandering back to the roasted fish in his hand. He relaxed slightly, a faint smile crossing his lips as he held up the fish, ”Want some?”

”Mm-hmm!”

Without hesitation, the girl eagerly nodded, leaping gracefully from the tree to land effortlessly by the fire, her gaze still locked hungrily onto the roasted fish.

Lin Langtian observed her closely, then handed over the fish. ”Here, enjoy.”

”Thank you!”

The girl’s clear, musical voice was as sweet as chimes. She quickly took the fish, ignoring all else as she began devouring it ravenously.

Seeing this, Lin Langtian smiled gently, waving his hand at the Liu brothers.

The three Death Profound Realm experts exchanged helpless glances, bitter smiles forming on their lips, yet soon they obediently started catching, cleaning, and roasting more fish. These esteemed warriors were swiftly transformed into diligent cooks.

The small girl’s appetite was surprisingly enormous. Only after devouring over twenty large fish did she finally stop, gently patting her belly with a contented sigh. Smiling brightly at Lin Langtian, she said, ”Thank you, Big Brother.”

”What’s your name?” Lin Langtian asked softly.

”Mu Lingshan.”

The girl tugged at one of her pigtails playfully, her bright eyes shining with curiosity as she returned the question, ”What’s yours, Big Brother?”

”Lin Langtian,” he replied with a friendly smile, though his mind stirred in realization upon hearing her name.

”That’s a nice name,” Mu Lingshan praised, tilting her head thoughtfully. ”Actually, it wasn’t just the fish that drew me here. When I saw you today, I just couldn’t resist following you.”

”You’ve been following me? Since when?” Lin Langtian raised an eyebrow in surprise.

”Since earlier today, when you met those nasty guys,” Mu Lingshan said, her twin pigtails bobbing adorably as she shook her head. ”I don’t know why, but I just felt you wouldn’t harm me, so I followed.”

Lin Langtian fell into thoughtful silence. If his guess was correct, the girl before him was none other than Mu Lingshan, the embodiment of the Life and Death Ancestor Symbol. The reason she felt an instinctive trust towards him was likely due to his possession of the Devouring and Space Ancestor Symbols.

”Big Brother, I’m injured, so I’ll rest now.”

Without waiting for his reply, Mu Lingshan curled up comfortably on a nearby stone, quickly drifting off to sleep like an innocent kitten.

Lin Langtian chuckled quietly, amused by her casualness.

Suddenly, his eyes narrowed slightly in astonishment. Mu Lingshan’s small body was enveloped by a gentle deep-blue light. Within this light, her severe injuries visibly began to heal at an incredible speed.

”This is...?” Lin Langtian murmured, deeply intrigued by the unusual power emanating from her.

”Immortal Heaven Mending Art!” Liu Da exclaimed in surprise. ”Could this little girl be from the Undying Saint Whale Clan? That’s their clan’s exclusive technique!”

Lin Langtian nodded thoughtfully. Having recognized Mu Lingshan’s true identity, her origins were now clear to him.

”This night, you three take turns keeping watch,” Lin Langtian ordered, closing his eyes as he entered cultivation.

Liu Da and his brothers respectfully acknowledged his command, casting curious glances at the sleeping Mu Lingshan before settling into their vigilance.

The night passed peacefully. As morning arrived, Mu Lingshan awoke, her bright eyes regaining their lively sparkle.

Lin Langtian also opened his eyes, greeting her warmly, ”Did you sleep well?”

”Yep!” Mu Lingshan nodded cheerfully, examining her healed wounds with satisfaction before turning back to Lin Langtian with a grateful smile. ”Thanks for the fish, Big Brother. I’ll be going now!”

She quickly sprang atop a nearby tree, hesitating briefly before adding, ”Don’t go in the same direction as me, Big Brother.”

Before Lin Langtian could question her, she giggled playfully and vanished swiftly into the distance.

Lin Langtian stared after her thoughtfully, then deliberately ignored her advice. Leading the Liu brothers, he followed discreetly in her wake.

After flying over the sea for about an hour, Lin Langtian suddenly felt intense waves of violent energy from a distance. Among those energies, he recognized the ruthless aura of the Blood Demon Shark Clan encountered earlier, as well as Mu Lingshan’s familiar presence.

”Sect Master, shall we rescue the girl?” Liu Da asked, sensing Lin Langtian’s intention.

Lin Langtian narrowed his eyes slightly, responding calmly, ”They’re powerful warriors from the Blood Demon Shark Clan. Do you really want to provoke such enemies?”

The Liu brothers exchanged a glance before declaring resolutely, ”Ever since we joined Tianfu, we’re prepared to walk through fire and cross swords for the Sect Master!”

Lin Langtian smiled approvingly, satisfied with their loyalty. ”Let’s go.”

...

On an open expanse of ocean, hundreds of Blood Demon Shark warriors riding ferocious blood sharks formed a tight encirclement. At their center stood Mu Lingshan, anger flashing in her bright eyes as she faced her pursuers.

”Hehe, little princess of the Undying Saint Whale Clan, I advise you to surrender quietly,” sneered their leader, Commander Wang, a peak Life Profound Realm expert gripping a blood-red trident.

”You worthless sharks think you can catch me?” Mu Lingshan retorted defiantly, scanning her surroundings for an escape route.

”We know you’re a genius rarely seen even among your clan, capable of mastering the Immortal Heaven Mending Art at such a young age. But now, sealed by our Elder, your resistance is meaningless,” Commander Wang mocked coldly.

Mu Lingshan suddenly slammed her palm onto the water, shouting, ”Whale Wave Pulse!”

Instantly, immense waves infused with azure light surged forth, violently scattering the shark riders.

”Ten Thousand Whale Palm!”

Seizing the moment, Mu Lingshan summoned a colossal whale phantom that charged forward, breaking through part of the encirclement. However, Commander Wang appeared before her swiftly, launching a lethal attack aimed at her throat.

Enraged, Mu Lingshan summoned a thick black coffin lid—the Death Coffin Cover. Dark energies surged forth, carrying powerful deathly aura. Yet, her body suddenly convulsed, crimson light erupting from a seal on her chest, weakening her instantly.

Commander Wang laughed viciously, delivering a fierce blow that sent Mu Lingshan flying, coughing blood.

”You despicable sharks deserve extinction!” she cried bitterly.

”Haha! The Death Coffin Cover is an unexpected bonus!” Commander Wang gloated, charging toward the weakened Mu Lingshan with deadly intent.

Just as the deadly attack was about to reach her, a silvery slash tore through space from afar, instantly dissipating the deadly crimson energy.

Commander Wang’s expression darkened as Lin Langtian and his group arrived swiftly, his voice filled with lethal menace, ”It’s you again! Mere humans daring to meddle in the affairs of my Blood Demon Shark Clan! You’re courting death!”
