Chapter 223: Chapter 223: Did You Choose Correctly?

Chapter 223: Did You Choose Correctly?

There was neither quarreling nor much said.

Li Junzi just saw the look Lin Luoyu gave her, and all the surging thoughts scattered.

At this moment, she was somewhat at a loss.

Li Junzi said somewhat evasively, ”Let’s eat first.”

Lin Luoyu looked as if she wanted to speak but stopped, but in the end, she quieted down too.

Li Junzi didn’t ask why, and Lin Luoyu didn’t explain why.

Not answering now seemed to have become the best answer.

The meal was eaten quietly, but perhaps the hearts of the two were not so quiet.

The days were like before; that day seemed like a dream bubble.

Li Junzi didn’t pursue why Lin Luoyu said she didn’t want to study anymore, nor did she mention her choice, as if leaving all the choice to her.

She neither expressed sadness nor persuaded Lin Luoyu to continue cultivating Confucianism and studying.

It was just that Li Junzi started to spend a little more time staring blankly at the trees nearby.

Lin Luoyu stopped mentioning it too, studying and going to the school to debate principles as usual.

The talk of giving up that day seemed to be just a momentary joke.

The two seemed to have returned to their initial state, and the words spoken seemed to have been taken back.

Sometimes, time cannot push forward those who wish to stay in place.

No one knew how long this long and hard time passed.

Until a piece of news spread to Lin Family Gully—the Sect Opening Ceremony of the Immortal Gate in Yuzhou City, promoted by the Demon Suppression Division of Xuanwu Kingdom and Zen Forest Temple.

As long as age requirements were met, anyone could go and try.

Zen Forest Temple was not famous in Lin Family Gully, but who in the entire Xuanwu Kingdom didn’t know the Demon Suppression Division?

Although the sect’s name wasn’t revealed, it was the first time the Xuanwu Kingdom officially guaranteed it.

Compared to other somewhat messy sects, this Immortal Gate in Yuzhou City seemed somewhat extraordinary.

Secondly, this was the closest everyone had been to a fairy destiny; how many people wanted to try other sects but didn’t have the chance?

The entire Lin Family Gully began to boil.

This wind naturally blew into the small courtyard of Li Junzi and Lin Luoyu.

But this wind seemed to die down here, and neither of them mentioned this matter.

At lunchtime, Li Junzi held her rice bowl, looking at Lin Luoyu who was eating in silence.

”Can you tell me what happened that day?”

Lin Luoyu looked up in surprise; this was the first time Li Junzi spoke during a meal.

Li Junzi gently put down the bowl, looking at Lin Luoyu.

”This teacher also has times when she speaks incorrectly; must you always remember?”

”No.” Lin Luoyu shook her head gently.

Li Junzi smiled slightly, already adopting the attitude of a listener.

”Then chat with me.”

Lin Luoyu put down her chopsticks, pursed her lips lightly, and spoke softly.

”Because I found that studying is too far from what I want. It’s not that studying is bad; I understand that becoming a Grand Scholar is not weaker than an ordinary Foundation Establishment cultivator.”

”I also understand that becoming a Sub-Sage adds the qi of heaven and earth to one’s body and protects one with the human race’s luck.”

”Even Tribulation Transcendence cultivators wouldn’t dare to act rashly, and Nascent Soul cultivators must yield to a Sub-Sage.”

”But even if I write a work recognized by heaven and earth, those who have the chance to read it won’t be ordinary mortals.”

”Principles won’t be in everyone’s heart.”

”More importantly, in this world, cultivators do not speak of reason; they only cultivate themselves.”

”Even if one becomes a Sub-Sage, in the eyes of cultivators, they are at most just a handful of yellow earth in two hundred years or so.”

”A Sub-Sage will only be carved into history books by mortals but will not be remembered in the hearts of cultivators.”

”Reason cannot be spoken into the hearts of cultivators, yet they are the ones who should most speak of reason.”

”When I came back, I met a cultivator. She said she also used to study. Seeing that I was young and already in the Principle Understanding Realm, and the theories I proposed enlightened her, she wanted to exchange a few words with me.”

”She is currently only in the Holding the Pen Realm. She said she read a hundred thousand books to reach Holding the Pen.”

”But after entering Holding the Pen, her path as a Confucian scholar made no further progress.”

”She once traveled everywhere for the Book Expanding Realm. She personally saw evil cultivator sacrifices and was helpless.”

”She also saw cultivators fighting and mortals suffering.”

”Seeing too much, she felt that reading these books seemed meaningless.”

”Because principles should not only be spoken to the weak.”

”That day when I came back, I thought about what I could do even if I studied to become a Sub-Sage, but it seemed I couldn’t do anything.”

”I kept thinking about this on the way back, and only when I got home did I vaguely feel it.”

”It’s not that studying is wrong, it’s that this world makes studying wrong.”

”So I thought at the time, since the world says cultivating immortality is the right path, then I want to cultivate immortality first.”

”After I finish cultivating immortality, I will use the means of immortality to speak the principles I want to speak.”

”But thinking about it, it’s also a bit wishful thinking. I might not have spiritual roots, and things might not be as good as I think.”

Li Junzi listened quietly, looking at Lin Luoyu.

”So what do you think now?”

Lin Luoyu said in a low voice, ”I should continue studying.”

”Because of the principles or because of me?” Li Junzi asked.

Lin Luoyu was silent for a moment, then said, ”Books are ultimately read for oneself.”

Li Junzi smiled lightly, stood up, reached out to touch Lin Luoyu’s head, and said.

”You are right. So if you want to go, then go. This teacher supports you.”

”But teacher...” Lin Luoyu wanted to say something, but saw Li Junzi shake her head gently.

Li Junzi joked and laughed, ”You have a path you want to walk, and I should go read the books I need to read.”

Lin Luoyu instantly choked on her words.

Li Junzi stood up, took a letter from the bookshelf, and gently placed it in front of Lin Luoyu.

”Although this sect is a bit far, it has some relation to me. Whether you want to go to Yuzhou City or the Immortal Gate in the letter, go do what you want to do.”

Lin Luoyu felt her nose sour; she was even more reluctant to part with Li Junzi.

Li Junzi reached out and touched Lin Luoyu’s head.

”Why are you so big and still love to cry like when you were little? Your eyes are about to turn red.”

”Teacher is talking nonsense.” Lin Luoyu buried her head in.

Li Junzi reached out and gently hugged Lin Luoyu.

”I’m not talking nonsense. The first time I saw you, you were crying, and you cried quite uglily.”

”Since you don’t want to become a Sub-Sage, then let the teacher achieve it. Lin Luoyu just needs to be a good Lin Luoyu.”

Li Junzi gently patted Lin Luoyu’s back.

Lin Luoyu didn’t know how to answer.

Li Junzi let go of Lin Luoyu, looked at her expression, then got up and walked to the desk, picking up the pen on the table and the paper to the side.

She raised the pen wanting to write.

Lin Luoyu stepped into the Confucian path starting with the Clear Wind, so now it should be sent off by the Clear Wind too.

Li Junzi held her breath and concentrated, starting to write, but got stuck on the first character.

For the ”Clear” character, she used all her strength but could only dot three points.

No one knew what Li Junzi was thinking when looking at the trees; perhaps even Li Junzi didn’t know what she was thinking.

But the heart will not lie.

Once a Scholar Realm cultivator, very close to the Grand Scholar Realm, Li Junzi could now not even write the Clear Wind.

The Clear Wind that the Holding the Pen Realm could write, a Scholar could not lift the pen to write.

Or perhaps, at this moment, she wasn’t even in the Holding the Pen Realm anymore.

But Li Junzi wasn’t sad. This represented that this time, she had chosen correctly again.

Staying behind was correct, and letting her go was too.

If she couldn’t write Clear Wind, then she wouldn’t write it.

Li Junzi raised the pen and wrote freely—Noble Spirit.

She looked at the two characters ”Noble Spirit”, smiled gently, and reached out to pick up that ordinary piece of paper.

”Everything this teacher can give has been given to you. Now, I can only send you these two characters.”

Lin Luoyu looked up.

On the rice paper in Li Junzi’s hand was elegantly written—Noble Spirit.

”May you have no worries in your heart, and be free and at ease with a Noble Spirit.”

That day, a scholar could not hold the pen, and a Principle Understanding embarked on the immortal path.

Lin Luoyu asked Li Junzi if she would stay in Lin Family Gully.

Li Junzi answered—maybe she would stay and continue reading, maybe she would go to Gentleman Mountain to continue reading.

That day, wearing that set of plain clothes and carrying a small broken bag, Lin Luoyu embarked on the road to Yuzhou City.

Li Junzi had long been out of money, so Lin Luoyu could only bring two worn-out pieces of clothing and a piece of paper on which the teacher had written ”Noble Spirit”.

Even Grand Scholars need to eat, let alone Lin Luoyu who was only in the Principle Understanding Realm.

So Lin Luoyu earned money and saved money all the way, rushing to Yuzhou City.

Even in the Principle Understanding Realm, wanting to earn money is actually very hard.

Lin Luoyu always felt her luck was very good. When she was most difficult as a child, she met Li Junzi.

When she wanted to cultivate immortality, she also smoothly joined the Immortal Gate in Yuzhou City.

She also gained a Master who treated her very well, as well as Senior Brothers, Senior Sisters, and a not-so-reliable Little Junior Brother.

The outside world is different from Lin Family Gully. The outside world is magnificent and myriad, and cultivators are far different from Confucian scholars.

It was also during this period that Lin Luoyu realized that some books, no matter how powerful the writer, have incorrect parts.

Principles that are perfectly true and kind also cannot persuade the heinous and evil.

The chaos of the Demon Country shocked Lin Luoyu’s worldview again and again.

After putting down the books, looking at the world from a different angle also felt interesting.

The Big Senior Sister who disliked herself for being stupid, the Second Senior Brother who looked a bit fierce, the Third Senior Sister who was a bit of a freak, and Cui Hao.

During that time, Lin Luoyu seemed to have merged into them.

She also started doing some unorthodox things—but she was indeed very happy.

She would also send letters to the teacher in Lin Family Gully, but there was never a reply.

Until the ghostwritten letter from Lin Family Gully came.

What she feared wasn’t the people in Lin Family Gully, and what she hesitated about wasn’t them either.

She had already asked the Demon Suppression Division about the demon disturbances mentioned in the letter.

So this letter...

She hesitated to go back, actually out of fear.

Afraid that Li Junzi wasn’t in Lin Family Gully, but even more afraid that Li Junzi was still in Lin Family Gully.

But in the end, she would go back anyway. The hesitation was probably only because—timidity near home.

However, she thought she would face it alone.

But she didn’t expect Cui Hao would follow shamelessly.

The reason Lin Luoyu didn’t refuse Cui Hao to follow was actually that if Li Junzi was still there, she could let her see that she didn’t lie to her, and that Lin Luoyu was actually doing really well.

When Lin Luoyu pushed open the familiar door again and saw the familiar teacher.

At first glance, it was still very intimate. Lin Luoyu felt that her previous hesitation suddenly became ridiculous.

Lin Luoyu came on the day she received the letter, instead of hesitating for three or four days.

She looked a bit more haggard, and the white hair on her head had gone from a streak to half.

During this time, this teacher of hers might not have lived well.

But if really asked, Lin Luoyu didn’t know how to say it now. She didn’t want to say pretty words.

Perhaps also infected a bit by this unreliable Cui Hao along the way, she actually cupped her hands somewhat impulsively and asked.

”Has the teacher been well recently?”

As soon as Lin Luoyu said it, she regretted it. Her words sounded very distant.

Li Junzi actually cupped her hands in return and even asked who Cui Hao was.

Lin Luoyu was a bit panicked. After answering instinctively, seeing Li Junzi wanted to make tea, she instinctively stepped forward to let herself make it.

Before, she often made tea for Li Junzi.

But the teacher replied, ”You are a guest; what sense is there in letting a guest make tea?”

Lin Luoyu didn’t know how to answer this sentence.
