Chapter 84: Chapter 84 Do Buddhist Scriptures Also Lie?

Chapter 84 Do Buddhist Scriptures Also Lie?

”My senior brother is going to die...”

Yuan Kong sat on the chair, his expression grief-stricken as he licked the sugar painting.

Chu Xingchen was slightly speechless watching this scene.

Truly taught by the high monks of the Chanlin Temple, his words and actions were completely contradictory.

This was truly a case of like master, like disciple.

Li Yingling showed a look of regret. That Yuan Jing was considered a good person, so she softly offered comfort:

”My condolences.”

Yuan Kong took a deep breath and said seriously: ”My senior brother treated me the best. I don’t want to watch him die.”

Chu Xingchen observed Yuan Kong’s posture of having run away from home and asked in a strange tone:

”So you ran away from home because you didn’t want to see the abbot die with your own eyes?”

”What nonsense!” Yuan Kong took a big bite of the sugar painting and said, ”I’m planning to go out and save my senior brother!”

”Oh...”

Chu Xingchen nodded lightly in response, affirming Yuan Kong’s words.

Yuan Kong looked at the four people around him, only to find that not a single one of them looked like they believed him.

Li Yingling was the first to sigh and say: ”Master, that monk is considered a good person. Let’s go offer a stick of incense when the time comes.”

”My senior brother won’t die. I will definitely save him!”

”Good... It’s rare for Yingling to have such a kind heart.”

”Wait! Are you all listening to me!”

Yuan Kong stood up, his expression serious: ”I will definitely save my senior brother.”

Chu Xingchen’s spiritual sense swept over him. Yuan Kong cultivated through willpower, and his cultivation had not yet reached the Foundation Establishment stage...

Even if he reached Foundation Establishment, adapting to and learning spells would require a process.

Not to mention he was just a little Yuan Kong, inexperienced with the ways of the world. How could he save the abbot?

”You should go back and spend more time with the abbot.” Chu Xingchen reached out and gently patted Yuan Kong’s shoulder, ”The world outside is too dangerous. Someone like you wouldn’t even be enough to stuff a beast’s teeth.”

Li Yingling nodded in agreement: ”Yes, and besides, the matter with the heretical cultivators hasn’t been completely resolved. The people from the Central Region are still investigating. It’s still dangerous outside.”

”I’m not afraid!” Yuan Kong’s expression was firm, ”My senior brother would go through fire and water for me, so I can do the same for him.”

”You have ambition!” Chu Xingchen nodded in approval and shouted to the sugar artist across the street, ”Three more sugar paintings, for Master Yuan Kong to eat on the road.”

”Alright~”

Yuan Kong put his palms together and thanked him: ”Thank you, benefactor!”

Li Xingtian was a bit speechless. Just a moment ago, he was earnestly teaching his junior sister, but in the blink of an eye, he had changed his demeanor again.

Wouldn’t it be better to catch this Yuan Kong and take him back to the Chanlin Temple in the current situation?

However, Li Xingtian understood that everyone makes different choices in life. This was the choice Yuan Kong made for the abbot.

After a moment of thought, Li Xingtian still opened his mouth to ask:

”Although this is a bit presumptuous, may I ask... how do you plan to save the abbot?”

Yuan Kong glanced at the four people, thought for a moment, and then began to answer:

”The Kalpana Buddha’s Relic.”

”I found it when I was flipping through the scriptures. It says that at the place where the Bodhisattva Kalpana fell, a heart lotus was formed, which can connect to the Buddha’s heart and extend one’s lifespan.”

Hearing this, Li Xingtian couldn’t help but shake his head slightly.

A Buddhist Bodhisattva was a Spirit Transformation cultivator, already at the level of a great power in this region.

If it wasn’t recorded, perhaps some would still remain.

But since it’s all written in books, it has probably been completely dug up long ago.

One can’t expect monks to have a higher moral standard, can they?

Yuan Kong looked up at Li Xingtian’s expression and knew he was not optimistic. Yuan Kong also understood the dangers of the journey ahead.

He had not left the temple much, but he was not a fool.

”The Kalpana Buddha’s Relic is protected by a Buddhist talisman. It will only open if the talisman matches, and the talisman can only be opened by a Buddha Son.”

Yuan Kong explained seriously: ”In the past, a Buddha Son would be born and go to the Central Region to cultivate the Mahayana Buddhism. I am the only Buddha Son left in Yuzhou City. The Kalpana Buddha’s Relic is most likely still there.”

”I estimate this is why the Chanlin Temple recorded this location in their books.”

Chu Xingchen looked at Yuan Kong upon hearing this. He understood Yuan Kong’s deliberate explanation; was he planning to partner with him?

”I know your cultivation is very high, and the ability to see through illusions is ineffective against you.” Yuan Kong looked at Chu Xingchen and said, ”I only want the Heart Lotus. Everything else can be yours.”

Chu Xingchen asked with a light laugh: ”The Kalpana Buddha’s Relic mostly contains Buddhist treasures. As a member of the Buddhist sect, are you just giving them away?”

Yuan Kong put his palms together and said firmly: ”Wealth moves people’s hearts, but not mine.”

Chu Xingchen asked curiously: ”Aren’t you afraid I’m a bad person?”

Yuan Kong did not answer, but glanced sideways at Chen Baiqing, who had not spoken a word.

——————

In the end, Chu Xingchen agreed.

He was ultimately tempted by the tomb of a Spirit Transformation cultivator.

After all, a trip wouldn’t result in any losses.

If everything was really there, it would be a huge gain.

Rob a grave! Rob it fiercely! If he, a Nascent Soul cultivator, didn’t dare to rob the grave of a Spirit Transformation cultivator, what was the point of cultivating immortality?

Since Chen Baiqing was still young, for the sake of prudence, Li Xingtian was left to look after him. After all, Li Xingtian’s cultivation method had a somewhat heretical foundation.

It was unknown whether something strange would happen upon entering the relic.

Moreover, Li Xingtian was experienced and should be able to run quickly if he encountered any risks.

Li Yingling, however, participated in this action, which could be considered a way to broaden her horizons.

Everything requires experience.

After all, they were already bringing Yuan Kong, who cultivated willpower for Qi Refining; one more Foundation Establishment mid-stage Li Yingling wouldn’t make a difference.

According to Yuan Kong’s extremely confident words, the journey to the Kalpana Buddha’s Relic was risky, but the inside should be extremely safe.

The book contained detailed records of the secret realm after the Bodhisattva Kalpana’s fall, describing it as a heavenly Buddhist kingdom, quiet and peaceful.

When Chu Xingchen asked Yuan Kong why he didn’t let the monks from the Chanlin Temple accompany him.

Yuan Kong sighed deeply: ”There aren’t many Foundation Establishment monks in the temple to begin with, and all of them are very close to the abbot. If I told them, I estimate I’d get a spanking from my senior brother.”

Li Yingling looked at him with confusion: ”Aren’t you afraid the abbot will worry if you sneak out like this?”

Yuan Kong replied confidently: ”I left a letter for the abbot, saying I was going to do good deeds and cultivate willpower. He’ll never guess.”

Chu Xingchen and Li Yingling were both slightly speechless.

Forget it, a quick trip there and back.

Chu Xingchen swiftly flew off in the direction Yuan Kong had indicated.

Half a day later.

Yuan Kong stared blankly at the wide, flowing river before him, constantly comparing it to the detailed map he had drawn by hand.

He sighed lightly. Chu Xingchen looked down at the map in Yuan Kong’s hand.

If the map was correct and Yuan Kong wasn’t clumsy, then there should be a majestic mountain here now.

Not an extremely wide river.

Yuan Kong said in disbelief: ”Do Buddhist scriptures also lie?!”

Chu Xingchen swept the area with his spiritual sense, then replied:

”The Buddhist scripture didn’t lie. What’s lying are your eyes and your common sense.”
