Back to the 1980s: Becoming the Villain's Lucky Wife

Chapter 733: Chapter 763: Admiration and Resentment for Qin Jiao

Qin Jiao smiled, calm and unhurried. She faced the camera and spoke openly, “As everyone knows, since Jiu Yi was founded, our employee benefits have been the best and most comprehensive in the entire industry. We established a dedicated kindergarten for our employees and we regularly purchase insurance for them. On every holiday, we also send a variety of gifts to our staff and their families.”

“The penalties we enforce are reserved for malicious job-hopping. For instance, an employee recently resigned because his elderly parents back home were ill. Not only did we approve his resignation, we also gave him three additional months’ salary and chose not to enforce his non-compete clause.”

“Another employee wanted to go back to school. He was accepted into a university before his contract had expired, and we didn’t enforce his non-compete clause either. We even created a scholarship for him, which means he can work for the company during his winter and summer breaks and be paid hourly.”

Hearing this, some people fell into deep thought, while others were visibly moved. The employees from Jinyi Company, in particular, had looks of longing in their eyes.

Su Zeyuan couldn’t help but feel a little impressed with Qin Jiao.

‘With just a few simple words, she’s managed to steer the conversation in her favor.’

In fact, he had admired Qin Jiao for a long time, even three years ago. She was beautiful, capable, and from a well-off family. Back when he was still Lu Jiuan, he had often thought to himself, ‘If only I had a wife as perfect as her.’ And now, even as they stood on opposite sides, he found he still admired her.

He said, “Since Mr. Qin treats her employees so well, why enforce the non-compete clause against those particular employees today?”

Qin Jiao’s lips curved into a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “Well, that’s a question for Boss Su, isn’t it?”

She sighed and turned her gaze to the other business owners. “Gentlemen,” she said, “some of you have been in business much longer than I have. You have more experience and have seen more than I have. If the employees you worked so hard to train were poached by someone else for a higher salary, wouldn’t you be heartbroken? Wouldn’t you be furious?”

The business owners exchanged glances.

In truth, they all knew what Su Zeyuan had done. To be fair, poaching employees was a shady business, but it was a common one.

It was just that this time, Su Zeyuan had gone a bit too far.

And Qin Jiao was no pushover, so she had come to confront him directly.

They had all been invited by Su Zeyuan, so they felt some obligation to him, not to mention the powerful figure backing him.

But they couldn’t very well stand there and admit that poaching wasn’t a big deal.

Because if they did, their own employees could be poached by the very next day!

At the same time, they couldn’t just stand up and publicly humiliate Su Zeyuan, either.

So, with a tacit understanding, none of the business owners said a word.

Qin Jiao hadn’t expected them to speak up anyway. At a time like this, their silence was the best possible answer.

Su Zeyuan’s gaze darkened, and the look he gave Qin Jiao was a mixture of admiration and resentment.

As for Su Yuxi, her gaze was much more direct—it was pure hostility.

She flicked her hair back. “Qin Jiao, you come here to cause trouble on the grand opening of our company, damaging my reputation in the process. Aren’t you afraid my fans will retaliate against you?”

Qin Jiao laughed. “Oh, you’re right, I am rather terrified. They say fans tend to be just like their idols. If the object of their worship has been to prison, helped traffic children, taken part in a kidnapping—done all sorts of terrible things—it would be truly horrifying if the fans started to imitate that, wouldn’t it?”
