Back to the 1980s: Becoming the Villain's Lucky Wife

Xu Wei was so angry she was about to cry.

’How can she talk to me like that?!’

But Qin Jiao felt her opponent’s fighting prowess was laughably weak. She said with mock gravity, ”Let me give you a piece of advice. If you want to steal someone’s man, you should go home and practice for another century or so.”

This time, it wasn’t just Han Juan and her friends; even a few passersby couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Trying to provoke the actual girlfriend only to get shut down so brutally... It was just too humiliating.

Xu Wei had never been humiliated like this before. Tears streamed down her face as she bit her lip. Staring at Qin Jiao, who was about to leave, she shouted, ”Qin Jiao, all you know how to do is seduce men! What other skills do you have? If you’ve got any real talent, let’s compete!”

Qin Jiao turned back.

She smiled. ”Oh? The last upperclassman who insisted on a piano duel with me also ended up crying. You haven’t even started competing with me, and you’re already in tears. Do you still want to do this?”

Xu Wei gritted her teeth. ”Of course, we’re competing! You name it. I’ll take you on in anything, piano included!”

Xu Wei had dabbled in the fine arts—playing instruments, chess, calligraphy, and painting—since she was a child. Even though she ended up choosing computer science, she was genuinely skilled in many areas.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been so widely admired.

She prided herself on being exceptional, far superior to Qin Jiao. That’s why she wasn’t afraid to compete in anything!

Looking at the proud, princess-like Xu Wei, Qin Jiao thought for a moment, then shook her head. ”Let’s not do piano. I heard from Shen Yi that your school is holding a programming competition soon. Let’s compete in that.”

”What?”

It wasn’t just Xu Wei who was utterly astonished; even Qin Jiao’s own law school classmates, like Han Juan, were so surprised their jaws dropped.

Han Juan tugged on Qin Jiao’s sleeve and whispered, ”Qin Jiao, are you sure about this?”

Qin Jiao smiled. ”Don’t worry.”

Han Juan: ...’Suddenly, I feel a lot better about this.’

Meanwhile, Xu Wei could no longer remain calm. She asked suspiciously, ”Qin Jiao, you’re a law student, right?”

”I am.”

”Then how do you know how to code?”

”Oh, I have a computer at home, and I’m interested in it. Shen Yi has also taught me a few things.”

”...”

Having her rival suddenly flaunt their relationship in her face, Xu Wei’s expression soured even more. She sneered, ”Fine. Programming it is. They allow students from outside the computer science department to register, and the deadline is coming up soon. If you don’t regret this, Qin Jiao, go sign up!”

The few law students were worried sick, but Qin Jiao just smiled and nodded. ”Alright.”

Even though non-majors were allowed to register, it was a highly specialized field. It wasn’t like a humanities subject, where you might get by if you were interested and had read a lot of books.

Forget non-majors; even within the department, most of the competitors were sophomores and juniors. Freshmen rarely participated.

As for the seniors, they were all busy preparing for graduate school entrance exams or looking for jobs. They wouldn’t waste time on a competition they had likely already entered before.

When the students and faculty in the computer science department office saw Qin Jiao actually go to register, they were also quite surprised.

One of the younger counselors even spoke up, ”Miss, this programming competition requires students to complete the code independently, and it’s judged on the final output. You shouldn’t be too impulsive.”

Qin Jiao replied, ”Thank you, sir. But I’m not being impulsive. I’m genuinely interested in this. I’ve even sat in on some of your department’s lectures before.”

The counselor was speechless.

Qin Jiao said, ”Non-majors are allowed to register, right?”

”Yes.”

”Then I’d like to sign up. Where are the forms? I’ll fill one out.”
