Re:Zero: Wrath Route Yandere Emilia Watches the Projection

Having lived through a life-and-death experience in the dream, only to wake and find that none of it had actually happened.

The whiplash — from such profound grief to such overwhelming relief — hit her with a force that shook her to the core. Ram felt herself becoming unbearably raw and tender inside, and her eyes had gone red at the rims.

The sheer relief of seeing Natsuki Subaru again — the gratitude of having him back after losing him — welled up thick in her chest, threatening to spill over into tears at any moment.

It had only been a dream. In that dream, Natsuki Subaru had done something so monumentally stupid as to throw his own life away.

And yet, right now, she couldn’t stop herself from wanting to scream at the Natsuki Subaru standing right in front of her.

But the words that rose to her lips came out wrong — softer than she intended, almost gentle, almost like a pout.

”Master… Master, you big idiot!”

Ram’s eyes were still red. She didn’t even notice the jacket slipping from her shoulders as she spun around and threw herself into Natsuki Subaru’s arms, wrapping both of hers tightly around him.

”Promise me — promise me you will never leave me all alone again!”

Ram buried her face deep into the warm hollow of his neck, breathing him in greedily, as though she could press his scent permanently into her memory.

”R-Ram! I know you’re worked up right now, but you need to be a little more — aware!”

She had spun around too quickly. The jacket that had been draped so loosely over her to begin with slid off entirely and pooled at the edge of the bed.

Ram was left with nothing to cover her at all — which meant that from Natsuki Subaru’s perspective, as he held her in his arms, what filled his vision was the smooth, fair, flawless expanse of her bare back, not a single imperfection to speak of.

Natsuki Subaru’s gaze was instantly snagged by the pert, rounded curve of her figure. The heat in his eyes was unmistakable, shot through with a naked, unguarded desire to look further.

But Ram, her head resting gently against his shoulder, had gone very still.

In an angle he couldn’t see, the corners of her lips curved upward — a smile so faint it was barely there, yet saturated with the quiet satisfaction of someone who had gotten exactly what they wanted.

”Master saved Ram’s life, so the deal we made before is no longer equal.”

Ram leaned close to his ear, her red lips parting, her voice coming out soft and fragile.

”Ram has nothing left to offer as a bargaining chip. And yet… Ram still can’t let go of her dearest little sister. Whatever shall we do?”

Natsuki Subaru shuddered at that. Some semblance of reason crept back into his eyes.

”Ah… well, saving you, Lady Ram, is simply something I was obligated to do. As for any so-called deal — let’s just forget all about that!”

He stumbled over his words trying to explain himself.

”I mean, having Ram call me… whatever it was… would honestly be way too embarrassing.”

The moment those words landed, Ram’s fist clenched. Every carefully prepared thing she had planned to say evaporated from her mind, and she was left grinding her teeth in sheer irritation.

”Why would it be embarrassing?”

She pulled her upper body back from him just enough to look directly into his eyes — eyes that were already trying their best to slide away from hers.

”You’ve already… seen Ram without a single thing held back!”

”The oath Ram swore — it took effect the moment it left her lips, and it will never, ever change!”

Natsuki Subaru raised one hand to half-cover his face.

At that moment, he felt like his eyes and his brain were at war with each other — his gaze kept straying without permission to Ram, who was staring straight at him.

”Ram, don’t do this — you’re Rem’s older sister!”

Natsuki Subaru said it with an embarrassed grimace.

Those words sent Ram’s thoughts into sudden, lurching disarray.

Why was he so fixated on that point? Was Subaru considering accepting the original deal after all — and marrying Rem?

She… could not accept that. She couldn’t!

And what she found even harder to accept was the fierce, overwhelming wave of opposition that rose inside her at the very thought.

But why? Rem would be happy. Subaru would be happy. Two happinesses layered on top of each other — that future should have felt like something out of a fairy tale.

So why did it feel like this?

”Older sister? All the more reason, then. Surely Master wouldn’t dare claim he has no impure thoughts.”

Ram drew one finger slowly in idle circles against Natsuki Subaru’s chest.

”Have you truly never imagined… the two of us sisters… together?”

Ram’s eyes were full of dangerous invitation as she said it — but the moment the words left her mouth, a flush crept up her cheeks, and she seemed almost flustered by her own boldness.

Ram knew, deep down, what she was doing.

Once Natsuki Subaru and Rem were married, an invisible wall would inevitably rise between herself and him — a quiet distance that had never been there before.

And so Ram had quietly made her decision: she would find a way to have it both ways.

Part of what had driven her to this was the dream she’d just had.

It was only a dream — but in it, Natsuki Subaru had made her a real promise. He had promised to become family with both her and Rem.

Neither she nor Rem shared a single drop of blood with Natsuki Subaru. And a promise spoken aloud was just empty air — it meant nothing on its own.

Ram despised people who made grand declarations and then failed to follow through. To her mind, that was simply lying.

So she needed Natsuki Subaru to be bound to them by something stronger — something like marriage. Not just to Rem alone, but to her as well.

”This… is…”

Natsuki Subaru turned his head aside helplessly, at a complete loss for what to say.

As a man in full possession of his faculties, he couldn’t honestly claim that a thought like that had never crossed his mind. Not even once.

But there’s a world of difference between a passing thought and actually going through with something!

He had already made up his mind to love both Rem and Emilia properly. How could he possibly get himself tangled up with Ram on top of that?

Even if he was going to be a scoundrel, he was a scoundrel with principles, thank you very much.

Ram watched Natsuki Subaru turn away in silence, and something snapped inside her. The sultry, alluring expression she had been carefully maintaining crumbled all at once.

She had really just been throwing her best smoldering looks at someone too blind to appreciate them.

”Fine. I humbled myself and served you as your maid, let you do whatever you pleased — and you don’t even want that.”

”Is it that you only feel comfortable with my usual sharp-tongued, cutting self? Is that the version of me you actually recognize?”

Ram’s expression shifted to one of pure disdain. She rose from the bed, lifted one foot, and pressed it squarely against Natsuki Subaru’s chest.

She shoved him flat onto his back across the bed.

”I didn’t think Subaru would be such a coward. Meat delivered right to his door and he’s too chicken to eat it. Pathetic!”

Ram stood over him, looking down with contempt — and slowly, deliberately, began to apply pressure.

Natsuki Subaru’s face flushed a deep crimson, as though he was fighting desperately to hold something back.

”Ram — stop moving!”

He reached out and grabbed her foot to push it away — and in that same instant, the light above him suddenly dimmed.

He looked up.

The moment his foot was caught, Ram had simply bent forward and stopped his mouth with hers.

”Mmph!”

Natsuki Subaru’s eyes went wide.

Deep within him, he felt a fire beginning to burn — a furious, consuming blaze rising from somewhere he couldn’t name.

And Ram’s kiss was oxygen feeding the flame, snapping the last fraying thread inside his mind — the one labeled reason — cleanly in two.

”Get. Off.”

Natsuki Subaru’s eyes had gone red, like a bull driven to rage.

He grabbed the black choker around Ram’s neck and yanked her off him, throwing her down onto the bed.

Ram let out a sharp cry of pain and looked up at him, trembling, as he loomed over her in pure fury.

”I’m sorry. After this, I may lose a little control of myself, Ram.”

Natsuki Subaru felt his body growing hotter by the second, and something primal surged with growing, irresistible force.

”Mm… that’s all right. Ram has been ready for a long time, Master.”

Ram lay back against the bed and raised both arms above her head, her whole posture an open, yielding invitation.

And so, that night, Ram received a thorough and relentless lesson from a thoroughly furious Natsuki Subaru.

”Oh — ohhhhhhhh~”

Strange sounds drifted from the room at intervals, and the bed had become a scene of absolute, glorious devastation.
