Extraordinary in Reality Through Magic Games

49: Chapter 49 I’m sorry, as a teacher, I failed.Kas Town, town gate.

Potter and Haige still maintained a distance of over twenty meters between them.

Listening to the gradually weakening wolf howls and the slowly dissipating magical fluctuations gathered by the beast tide, their expressions varied.

Haige had an expression like he had just eaten dung, staring blankly toward the forest.

How could it be? By what right? How could those two hunt down the leader of the beast tide?

On the other hand, Potter flashed a set of bright white teeth. His Mental Energy had been monitoring the situation in the forest, even though he could only perceive the general movements.

The disappearance of the female Thunder Wolf’s magical fluctuations had already exceeded his expectations; he hadn’t expected them to last so long under the claws of a male Thunder Wolf on the verge of advancing to the fourth rank.

Chuckling, Potter asked Haige, ”I won. What do you have to say?”

Haige remained silent, retreated to the side of the six Fanatics, took out the monitoring crystal from the Kas Town church, and crushed it with one hand. ”I keep my promises.”

With a wave of his hand, sending the fine white powder flying, he said with a sullen face, ”Your eye is as sharp as ever. You have taken in a good student.”

”It’s alright. He’s a bit better than your teacher, Jarvis.”

Clenching his fists, Haige swore that if he weren’t unable to defeat him, he would really want to punch that smirking face.

Taking a deep breath to calm his emotions, Haige asked, ”The monitoring crystal has been destroyed. Even if I reveal that your student attacked the church, there is no evidence. You can rest assured.”

”So, can I leave?”

With the matter settled securely, Potter naturally wouldn’t look for unnecessary trouble. ”You may.”

Thinking that the bishop of the Kas Town church had died, that no one was guarding the place for the time being, and that it would be dangerous if scattered Thunder Wolf packs arrived, he suggested, ”You are responsible for escorting the Kas Town residents to Bala City. As for Kas Town, say it was attacked by a beast tide, the local bishop sacrificed himself heroically to resist the beast tide and protect the residents, and the church was also destroyed by the beasts. How about that?”

”That would be best.” Haige felt some comfort in his heart. ”Rescuing” the residents of the entire small town was also a merit. He would basically be promoted steadily and could go to the church in the Lake Royal Capital to serve under his teacher, which was much more comfortable than staying in Bala City.

Moreover, he could ask his teacher to investigate the information on Potter’s student and, by the way, see which region’s church had issued that guy’s identity badge. Hmph, a daring heretic. It would be best if I don’t discover any evil deeds of defying the church.

”Escort the residents to Bala City.”

Haige put away his thoughts and waved his hand to instruct the six Fanatics to carry the Fanatics who had been stunned by Potter’s Mental Energy and, together with the crowd of residents, move slowly along the not-so-wide dirt road toward Bala City.

About half an hour later, they disappeared from view.

Potter withdrew his gaze and waited quietly for more than ten minutes before Zhang Mu, clutching his staff, walked out of the darkness.

”Teacher, have they left?”

”Yes.”

”By the way, four elves from Bala City came to help. Later, they were surrounded by the Thunder Wolf pack. Did they escape safely?”

”They escaped the forest early this morning.”

”That’s good. Also, Teacher, I met a guy who called himself Andre. He said the senior sister had already returned to the Lake Royal Capital first.”

”Yes.”

”Then where are we going now? The Lake Royal Capital, or?” Feeling that Potter’s state was a bit off, Zhang Mu asked.

”Given Andre’s personality, he probably said something to you.” He didn’t answer, but asked instead, ”I think, perhaps some unpleasant words?”

”Something like that.” Zhang Mu scratched his head.

”Hahaha...” Potter threw his head back and laughed, stopping only after a long while. ”That guy...”

”Do you need me to vent your anger for you? You are my student.”

”If I say yes, will Teacher beat him up?”

”I will beat him half to death.”

Staring at Potter for a while, Zhang Mu smiled. ”That wouldn’t be interesting. I’ll do it myself.”

Potter didn’t respond with a smile. He walked slowly in front of him, raised his hand, and gently stroked his black hair.

”I originally wanted to take you to the Lake Royal Capital to resolve your illness, but the Lake Royal Capital is no longer safe now. Even I cannot protect you at all times. Besides, a fledgling eagle cannot stay under its parents’ wings forever.”

Potter’s tone was a bit low and apologetic, and his face held an apologetic smile. ”You have already mastered the potion to suppress your illness. For the time being, you don’t need to worry about the symptoms causing you trouble. As for me, I need to go to some dangerous places to find answers to the questions in my heart.”

”So, Zhang Mu, the road for the next period of time must be walked by yourself.”

”Traveling the continent alone, keep your wits about you. Do not approach strange Adventurer Groups. I don’t deny that there are kind ones, but the vast majority are the opposite. It is already September, and winter is approaching. The winter in the Lake Kingdom is very cold, so wear more clothes. Once you become a Beginner Magician, you won’t have to worry about the temperature.”

”Also, eat less instant noodles in the future. The taste is indeed great, but it is ultimately just ordinary food and is of almost no help to a magician. Remember to eat more monster meat.”

”Most importantly, remember never to bully the weak with powerful strength. If you do that, both Teacher and Avril will be sad.”

Like a parent worried about a child about to go far away, Potter rambled on endlessly. Finally, feeling that it was enough, he stopped, rubbed Zhang Mu’s head hard, and said, ”Sorry, Zhang Mu. As a teacher, I am not up to the mark.”

”That is not true. You are a very competent teacher.”

Potter smiled. Without any movement, his body flew toward the sky. ”When you are strong enough and want to come to the Lake Royal Capital, then come. Before that, no matter what happens to me and Avril, do not come.”

He flew very fast and disappeared without a trace in an instant, with only the last piece of advice falling down.

Lowering his head, Zhang Mu looked around. The open space in front of the town gate was silent, as if the previous liveliness had all been an illusion.

”Whew...” He gathered his thoughts, feeling a deep loneliness like that after a gathering and parting of friends who hadn’t seen each other for many years. He summoned a portal and stepped inside.

Returning home, Zhang Mu scanned the living room. He had forgotten to close the window before going to the Other World. In just two days, a layer of dust had accumulated on the furniture and tiles.

He went into the bathroom, took out a mop and a rag, and busied himself for an hour, making the house look brand new.

Finishing the cleaning, he sat on the sofa and took out his phone from his inventory. He first called his senior brother, but after the ”beep” sounded for a long time, no one answered.

Just as the call ended, Song Lan called, asking about his physical condition.

Upon learning that it hadn’t deteriorated, Song Lan’s tone became relaxed. She informed him that his crystal gemstone, as the centerpiece exhibit for a jewelry exhibition, would be publicly sold tomorrow afternoon.

This exhibition had been advertised on major social media platforms for several days in advance. At that time, besides the local bigwigs, many interested famous figures from other places would also come.

The crystal gemstone with the inclusion of a lifelike rabbit had many people interested. After all, even among the world’s known peerless gems, this was currently the only one of its kind.

Especially for Chinese people born in the Year of the Rabbit, the attraction was sufficiently strong. It was going to be foreseeably lively, and she hoped he could attend the exhibition tomorrow.

Zhang Mu rubbed his chin and pondered for a while. He planned to go get his passport tomorrow morning, and the processing location happened to be on the way, so he agreed to go and take a look. It would only take two hours, which was very quick.

Just as he hung up, his senior brother’s call came in. He answered.

”Hello, Senior Brother, what’s wrong with your phone? I couldn’t get through. That has never happened before.”

”Busy with a research project? Really? Or are you busy dating?”

”Really? I don’t believe it.”

Chuckling and teasing Ye Ming, Zhang Mu asked, ”A few days ago you said you would treat me to dinner. It’s been so long and I haven’t seen any movement. If you keep dragging it out, I suspect your wedding banquet and this dinner will have to be held together.”

”Alright, then I’m hanging up. Yeah.”

Placing the phone on the table, Zhang Mu crossed his arms and leaned against the back of the sofa, deep in thought about his next plan.

Common knowledge from Avril’s little classroom—magic books all come from dungeons that occasionally appear in the world. Therefore, the best choice to improve magical strength is undoubtedly to go into a dungeon.

A dungeon, huh... Hmm, listening to that female elf chatting with the senior sister, a dungeon will open in Bala City soon. Kas Town is only a day’s journey from Bala City. How could he miss this? After finishing his business tomorrow, he would go to Bala City.

Having made his decision, Zhang Mu got up, washed up, and went to bed.
