Chapter 686: Chapter 345: Evil God

The Golden Armor descended directly upon the Church of Light, interrupting numerous prayers.

The believers were initially displeased, but upon seeing who had arrived, their dissatisfaction quickly dissipated.

A priest wearing a white divine robe, with graying beard, put on a smile and hurriedly greeted, ”The adult from the Divine Armor Hall is here, may I ask if there’s any...?”

”Eh?”

”Angel? Great God of Light, what are your instructions?”

The priest’s eyes brightened significantly upon seeing Laya behind Matt Wei, speaking almost obsequiously.

This made some believers who weren’t so deeply entrenched show a bit of doubt in their eyes, as this was vastly different from the dignified Transcendent bishop they remembered.

Not an ounce of the God of Light’s majesty was present.

”Shut up.” Matt Wei coldly responded.

Instantly, this Silver Level bishop trembled, wanting to say something but, seeing the indifferent dragon-descendant slit pupils within the golden armor, silently shut his mouth, stepped back a few steps, and spoke no more.

Matt Wei looked at Laya, gesturing for her to identify the abnormal angel.

Laya closed her eyes for a moment to perceive, then her eyes transformed into a milky white as she looked at the believers from another dimension.

One by one, from confused or troubled faces, a remarkably clean and pure young face began to emerge.

It was a girl, with golden hair and sapphire eyes, as though an angel from a painting, kneeling opposite the believers, holding the Holy Scripture of Light, and meeting Laya’s gaze.

She noticed Laya’s gaze, and the pure, unblemished sapphire eyes showed a hint of a smile, nodding to her graciously.

Beside them, Ulysses, who had been silent, panicked in his eyes, hastily stepped forward a couple of steps to explain, ”This is the newly found Divine Envoy of ours, named Midri. Her Light Talent is extraordinarily powerful, but she only wishes to stay in the Light Church.”

Laya looked at Matt Wei, frowning, eyes full of confusion, and whispered, ”It’s indeed the aura of an angel, but I don’t sense anything wrong. Her bloodline concentration is much higher than mine.”

Matt Wei nodded coldly, ”Take her away!”

Sai De stepped forward, but in the next moment, Ulysses appeared in front of him, with less respect in his eyes, ”What do you intend to do? Does the Divine Armor Hall get to act as they please and seize the saintess of a church at will? We haven’t broken any law; you have no right to arrest someone without cause.”

Sai De looked at Matt Wei, with a bit of helplessness in his eyes, seemingly asking: What now?

A protective desire rose in the eyes of the surrounding believers, all standing up to subtly shelter the beautiful and gentle girl behind them.

The vast hundred-meter cathedral was momentarily silent.

An oppressive atmosphere was spreading.

A hint of impatience flickered in Matt Wei’s eyes as a slight scaly texture appeared on his golden armor, his eyes imbued with the essence of life, albeit tainted with a hint of scarlet.

The murderous intent made the believers hesitate.

”Obstructing the law enforcement of the Divine Armor Hall...”

”Wait...”

A serene and soothing voice rang out.

With a soothing effect that calmed people’s hearts, the atmosphere instantly relaxed.

Midri gently closed the Bible, made a symbol of the Light Church with her hands across her chest, and elegantly stood up.

She looked at Matt Wei with a smile: ”May I trouble everyone to step aside, under the watch of the great God of Light, everyone will ultimately find redemption. Let’s clear up any misunderstandings.”

The thousands of believers seemed to trust the words of the beautiful girl implicitly, silently making way.

The girl gently lifted the edge of her divine robe, descending the steps one by one, walking toward Matt Wei.

She seemed unfazed by the day’s events, asking very gently, ”Dear sir, may I ask why you want to arrest me? Can I ask for a reason?”

Such a wonderful girl, almost like a real angel, with a smile that could melt away all worldly negative emotions, lessened Matt Wei’s impatience slightly.

He frowned, although initially reluctant to explain, but now found himself saying, ”In the city, there’s a power of light that’s absorbing faith, soul, and essence blood from people, with the lingering power belonging to an angel, almost identical to yours.”

As he finished speaking, the believers’ expressions subtly shifted, a murmur arose behind them, mostly questioning and refuting, adding little but making the sacred church seem like a bustling marketplace.

”That’s impossible, there are always people around the saintess, it’s impossible she did it, do you have any evidence?” Ulysses immediately refuted, angrily glaring at the three Law Enforcers in golden armor.

Impatience once again rose in Matt Wei’s eyes, just as he was about to speak, a gentle voice soothed him.

”Everyone, please calm down, this is the Church of Light, a place belonging to God, please do not make noise in God’s place, thank you, may God be with you.”

Midri held the Bible in both hands, her prayer-like tone carrying a hint of Extraordinary Power, like a large hand smoothing out wrinkled paper, eliminating all noise.

Including the bishop, all emotions were soothed.

This scene made the always observant Laya even more puzzled. Divine Mage, yet she still couldn’t sense anything amiss.

The Light Divine Skill just now was even purer than the Power of Light within her.

Just like the girl’s eyes, pure to the point of... seeming unreal.
