Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1840: Chapter 1840: A Ruthless Beating

”You’ve already learned about my enmity with Long Wudang. Long Wucuo wanted to stand up for him, and I’m sure you’ve heard the words he released yesterday. How can we at the Huayu Temple allow such humiliation? Fortunately, I saw Long Wudang at the black market too.” A flash of cold light flickered in Han Yan’s eyes.

Originally, Han Yan planned to wait for Long Wudang to leave the black market before finding a chance to make a move, but since Gao Weihu has already spoken boastfully, there’s no need to be polite with him. After all, Tianyang City is not Huayu City; the defenses may not be as weak as they appear on the surface, and there’s still some risk in making a move outside. No place is as safe and reliable as the black market.

With the Penalty Priest from the Life God Temple backing them up, as long as they don’t cause too much commotion, even Long Aoli wouldn’t dare intervene in Gao Family’s black market affairs.

”So it was that waste. I’ll have someone bring him over right away. You deal with him however you want, just don’t take any lives,” Gao Weihu said indifferently.

Han Yan had worried he might refuse to break black market rules, yet he agreed so readily. She couldn’t help but see Gao Weihu in a new light.

After finishing his words, Gao Weihu didn’t linger. Hands clasped behind his back, he strode leisurely out of the room.

Before long, Long Wudang was brought over.

”I heard the Store Manager called for me. May I ask what it’s about?” Long Wudang entered the room with his head lowered, trembling as he asked.

Usually, he would flaunt his family background, but that means nothing in front of Gao Weihu. He had already witnessed the bloody scene of Gao Weihu brutally beating Zhao Zhiyuan earlier, and dared not show any arrogance, nodding and bowing like a lapdog.

Han Yan and her group remained silent, watching Long Wudang with a smirk.

”Han Yan, it’s you! Where’s the Store Manager?” Long Wudang’s gaze swept the room. Seeing no sign of Gao Weihu, he immediately recognized Han Yan’s mocking expression, and a strong sense of unease welled up in his heart.

”Manager Gao isn’t here. We’re just borrowing his place,” Han Yan said with a smile.

Long Wudang’s pupils contracted sharply. Without pondering the situation, he turned and ran towards the exit.

Unfortunately, Han Yan and her group had anticipated this, and wouldn’t let him escape.

”Bang!” A thick turtle shell slammed heavily onto his face, and Long Wudang fell to the ground with two streams of blood gushing from his nose.

Long Wudang’s reaction was quick. He bounced up upon hitting the ground, trying to spring up again. Unfortunately, Shen Yuhe moved a step faster, leaping high and stomping heavily on his face.

”Aow...” Long Wudang let out a piercing scream, which was soon drowned out by a series of thuds and crashes.

After the battles in Huayu City, not only Shen Yuhe’s violent instincts were activated, but so were Sikong Qinglan’s. Plus, Ling Baobao, who had inherited a violent streak by nature, joined in. The three surrounded Long Wudang, delivering punch after kick.

”Let me at him, let me at him!” Wen Gaoren had been scheming on how to persuade Han Yan to accept him as a disciple. This was such a good chance to show his worth, so he definitely wouldn’t lag behind, squeezing in with a grin and striking even more brutally than Ling Baobao and the others.

At the door, the guard was dumbfounded. It was one thing for the youngsters to throw punches, but why was this white-bearded old man joining the fray, hitting even harder than the youths?

”Help, help...” Long Wudang lay on the ground, pleading for mercy from the guard, who simply turned around and shut the door.

...

”Please stop, I’m begging you, have mercy on me, don’t hit me anymore.” Long Wudang lay on the ground like a dead dog, his nose and tears filling his face as he pleaded desperately.

”Didn’t Long Wucuo back you up? Why not call him now? How dare you trouble the Master Priest. I’ll beat you to death, I will...” Wen Gaoren straddled Long Wudang’s back, raining punches down, trembling with excitement, his white hair shaking vigorously, looking exceptionally fierce.

Han Yan and the others exchanged glances. Initially, the old man seemed eager to impress Han Yan, but the more he fought, the more spirited he became. His attacks grew fiercer, and eventually, Ling Baobao and the others had withdrawn, leaving him to continue the beating alone.

”It’s not my fault. Long Wucuo would rather see me dead. Why would he back me up? It’s Ou Mingzhi’s doing.” Long Wudang finally realized, wailing as he shouted.

”Stop!” Han Yan felt a subtle shift in her thoughts.

She had been puzzled that after suffering losses twice at the hands of Huayu Temple, Long Wudang hadn’t learned his lesson and dared to confront her. Was he unafraid of death? Hearing Ou Mingzhi’s name, she vaguely understood something.

”I’ll beat you to death, I’ll beat you to death...” Wen Gaoren was caught up in the moment, seemingly oblivious to Han Yan’s words, continuing to pound Long Wudang with relentless punches.

No one expected the old man to be so uncontrollable once he started. Han Yan helplessly signaled to Sikong Qinglan and others, who worked together to pull Wen Gaoren away.

Long Wudang finally caught his breath, tears flowing as he swallowed an elixir. His appearance was as wretched and pitiful as one could imagine.

”You mentioned it’s Ou Mingzhi’s doing. What’s going on?” Han Yan asked.

”I don’t know the full details. All I know is that Ou Mingzhi approached Long Wucuo recently, and they seemed to reach some agreement involving you, intending not to let you leave Tianyang City alive. It’s really nothing to do with me. He’s always been against me, afraid I’d contest the Young Master position of the Long Family. If he had the chance, he’d have gotten rid of me long ago. How could he back me up?” Long Wudang cried with eyes full of tears.

Han Yan glanced at Long Wudang, pondering in silence.

No wonder she hadn’t faced any retaliation from Ou Mingzhi. It turns out he wouldn’t act unless it was to put her to death! His scheming nature was indeed far superior to Long Wudang’s.

Han Yan didn’t doubt Long Wudang’s words. He’s definitely not someone with a spine, unlikely to be lying.

”Right, I also heard Long Wucuo recently acquired a powerful divine weapon called the Chaos God Sword, and he will probably use the offering ceremony to assassinate you!” Long Wudang added, fearing that Han Yan might not believe him.

”The Chaos God Sword!” Wen Gaoren exclaimed.

”What, you said the Chaos God Sword is in Long Wucuo’s hands?” At the entrance, Gao Weihu’s startled voice rang out.

Han Yan’s heart sank slightly. Even Gao Weihu seemed so surprised, indicating that this Chaos God Sword is no ordinary artifact.

”Store Manager, help me! They dared to make a move in the black market, openly violating the rules...” Upon seeing Gao Weihu, Long Wudang clung to him like a lifeline, hugging his leg tightly. He initially aimed for the thigh, but it was too thick to grasp.

”They’re my friends.” Gao Weihu pointed to Han Yan, then kicked Long Wudang away with a foot.
