King of Gods

Chapter 598 - Devouring

Near the center of the battlefield, the four “hostages” teamed up and fought against the Sovereign Lord in black armor.

“Ice Imperial Spear!”

After giving the little thieving cat the array flag, Zhao Feng circulated his bloodline power and waved the Ice Imperial Spear, creating brilliant crystal-blue lights that radiated a forbidden coldness and froze everything nearby.

At the same time, the Wings of Wind and Lightning on Zhao Feng’s back released wisps of Purple Destruction that crashed toward the Sovereign Lord.

Apart from his eye-bloodline, Zhao Feng used all his skills to fight against the Great Origin Core Realm.

Although Li Yunya and company were shocked, they still used their full strength to help fight against the Sovereign Lord.

“It’s actually a rare, ancient inheritance weapon….”

The black-armored Sovereign Lord squinted his eyes. He actually wasn’t able to take down a group of mere cannon fodder with his middle-stage Great Origin Core Realm cultivation; did he even have any face left?

“Ten-Sided Destruction!”

The black-armored Sovereign Lord waved his halberd and released powerful beams of cold light toward the Blue Lightning Sea Sky Ship.

Boom! Boom! Boom~~~~

The ship started to shake and rattle, causing the surrounding array-mist to split apart.

The attacks of Zhao Feng and company were instantly broken.

Miao miao!

The little thieving cat waved the array flag and directed the power of the Ghost Corpse Cursed Array to repair the gaps.

The Ghost Corpse Cursed Array had devoured the essence of many Sovereigns and become much stronger, so it was able to supply continuous amounts of force.

“That array is troublesome….”

The Sovereign Lord’s eyebrows furrowed. Although he had the advantage with his Earth-Grade weapon, he still couldn’t take them down quickly.

I’ve only used two-thirds of the cursed ghost-corpses.

Zhao Feng nodded his head as he used the Ghost Corpse Cursed Array as cover and counterattacked.

He had improved a lot in the last half-year; even without using his eye-bloodline power, his strength was getting close to the Great Origin Core Realm.

That was already stunning in the eyes of the two-star sects’ experts.

“Zhe zhe zhe, a random person we caught on the way has such capabilities?”

The black-skinned elder watching from behind was extremely surprised. The Blue Lightning Sea Sky Ship was just cannon fodder, yet it was able to stall a Great Origin Core Realm; this was a huge boon for them.

“Full-scale attack!”

The half-step Void God Realm’s voice sounded from the Six Ring Palace’s side. They definitely wouldn’t pass up such a good chance since their advantage was so big now.

“Kill!”

The two forces put in more of their troops, and Zhao Feng became happy. This was just what he wanted; the more chaotic the situation, the more likely it was he would be able to retreat safely.

However, the black-skinned elder was still extremely cautious as he maintained a certain proximity to the Blue Lightning Sea Sky Ship.

“Kid, if we win, the Six Ring Palace will take away your identity as a hostage and we’ll take you in as one of us.”

The black-skinned elder said through Spiritual Sense to Zhao Feng.

“Deal.”

Zhao Feng pretended to be overjoyed and used more effort to attack the Sovereign Lord. A cold smile appeared on the black elder’s face as he thought to himself, “That brat’s ghost-corpse array and his inheritance weapon are unusual. He’ll be ready to be slaughtered after the battle’s over.”

Of course, for the moment, Zhao Feng still had a lot of value. As time passed, the fight became fiery hot.

Zhao Feng maintained his calm as he conserved a bit of his strength. He only used two-thirds of the Ghost Corpse Cursed Array, and he didn’t let the skeletal Division Leader enter the battle.

He also didn’t believe what the black-skinned elder promised.

“The time’s about right….”

Zhao Feng made the Blue Lightning Sea Sky Ship cruise around the edge of the battlefield’s center. The Sovereign Lord in black armor followed, but neither side was able to finish off the other.

On the other hand, the cruising of the ship made the situation more chaotic.

“Arghhhh!”

The Ghost Corpse Cursed Array around the Blue Lightning Sea Sky Ship devoured True Lord Ranks and half-step Origin Core Realms.

Anyone below the Origin Core Realm would turn into a puddle of blood and water after touching the curse.

Ultimately, Zhao Feng no longer even cared about “friend” or foe. If the timing was right and there were experts from the Six Ring Palace around, they would also be eaten by the Ghost Corpse Cursed Array.

They pretended that the damage done to the Six Ring Palace experts was because of the clash with the Great Origin Core Realm and that they were unable to avoid collateral damage.

“Zhe zhe…. If we kill three more Sovereigns, the array will have devoured twenty Sovereigns.”

The skeletal Division Leader in the Ten Thousand Ghost Pearl felt its heart itch. More than a dozen Sovereigns had been devoured by the Ghost Corpse Cursed Array, and many of them came from this battlefield.

They didn’t necessarily need to kill every single one either; they could also devour the bodies of Sovereigns that were recently killed elsewhere.

“This is indeed a good chance.”

Zhao Feng couldn’t help but become excited. He increased the number of ghost-corpses to over seventy and expanded the range of the smoke.

The Sovereign Lord in black armor felt the pressure increase. At the beginning, he could still force the Blue Lightning Sea Sky Ship to retreat, but now, all he could do was follow the ship.

Wait!

The black-armored Sovereign Lord wasn’t dumb; he soon realized that Zhao Feng was devouring half-step Origin Core Realms and Sovereigns to strengthen the power of his array.

“Ridiculous! He dares use a two-star battlefield to increase the power of his array?”

The Sovereign Lord was shocked and angry at the same time, but the Nine Despair Hall was currently being suppressed by the Six Ring Palace.

The half-step Void God Realm suppressed the strongest two peak Great Origin Core Realms from the Nine Despair Hall, and if it weren’t for the fact that they had the help of a protective array, they would’ve lost ages ago.

“Captain Zhao, the result hasn’t been decided yet. This is the perfect chance for us to escape.”

Li Yunya suggested.

The three Sovereigns were injured. They didn’t have Zhao Feng’s state of existence or his Water bloodline that could help them heal; up to now, Zhao Feng was still unharmed.

“It is about time.”

Zhao Feng nodded his head faintly, even though he was slightly unwilling. This was a two-star battlefield, and devouring Sovereigns here was a good chance to strengthen his Ghost Corpse Cursed Array.

However, he knew the current situation; when the battle was decided, he wouldn’t be a match for whoever was left.

“Turn left and retreat toward the edge.”

Zhao Feng ordered. He pretended that his bloodline power was running out as the Blue Lightning Sea Sky Ship started to retreat.

“Hmph, that brat’s not even at the Origin Core Realm, how long can his True Yuan and bloodline last?”

The black-armored Sovereign Lord’s heart jumped as he released his power.

Boom!

Shockwaves blew across the Blue Lightning Sea Sky Ship.

Zhao Feng and company blocked it while running at the same time.

The Blue Lightning Sea Sky Ship soon reached the edge of the battlefield, but the Sovereign Lord chased after them as he laughed.

He couldn’t help but feel excited when thinking about owning such a high-quality ship and powerful ghost-corpse array.

“Increase the speed!”

Zhao Feng snickered coldly and made the Blue Lightning Sea Sky Ship release its true speed.

Whoosh!

The ship streaked across the sky and left the battlefield.

The speed of it stunned the experts from both sides.

“Die!”

Being a Sovereign Lord, the male in black armor was slightly faster. After all, the Blue Lightning Sea Sky Ship’s fastest speed was only close to the Great Origin Core Realm. However, even then, that was already considered unbelievable.

“If that Sovereign Lord keeps chasing us, we won’t be able to escape.”

Li Yunya and the other two Sovereigns couldn’t help but cry.

If this continued, they would most likely be unable to escape the pursuit of the Great Origin Core Realm. They would just be stalling for time.

“Captain Zhao, why don’t we run in different directions? That way, our chances of survival will be higher.”

The one-armed elder suggested.

He and the lady in yellow could see that the black-armored Sovereign Lord’s target was Zhao Feng and the Blue Lightning Sea Sky Ship.

“Do what you want.”

Zhao Feng remained expressionless.

Now that they had escaped the center of the battlefield, he didn’t care about two injured Sovereigns.

On the other hand, Li Yunya’s eyes twinkled, and he didn’t make a decision.

Sou! Sou!

The one-armed elder and the lady in yellow ran in different directions.

As expected, the Sovereign Lord didn’t chase after them.

Hu~

The two let out a long breath. They finally escaped the shadow of death.

However, before they could even fully calm down, a powerful aura caused the environment to be dyed scarlet-red.

What!?

The expressions of the two Sovereigns changed dramatically as they saw the black-skinned Elder fly over. He was at the late-stage Great Origin Core Realm, so he was even stronger than the black-armored Sovereign Lord from before.

“Scarlet Cloud Hand!”

The black-skinned elder thrusted out a palm, and a scarlet-red light dyed half the sky red.

“Arghh!”

The lady in yellow screamed as the flames sealed off her location.

Boom!

Her body was crushed into pieces by the Scarlet Cloud Hand.

“Forgive… Forgive me….”

The remaining one-armed elder felt as if he was travelling through mud; his every action was heavy.

The strength of the black-skinned elder was far stronger than normal Sovereign Lords. If he had been the one chasing them, they wouldn’t have survived up to now.

“All those that run are to be killed.”

The black-skinned elder emotionlessly crushed down with his Scarlet Cloud Hand, ending the one-armed elder.

The two Sovereigns were like babies in front of him.

“Hm? That direction.”

The black-skinned elder scanned the area with his Spiritual Sense and confirmed where the Blue Lightning Sea Sky Ship and the Great Origin Core Realm went.

At this moment, on the battlefield, the Six Ring Palace had the advantage. That was why the black-skinned elder had time to chase those that ran away.

It would be perfect if he could slay the enemy Sovereign Lord as well.

In the limitless ocean, near the two-star battlefield.

A tall, mysterious, cold figure floated over like a ghost. Although its speed seemed slow, it was actually several times faster than normal Sovereign Lords.

Wherever he went, the limitless ocean became silent.

“Two-star battlefield? Do you think hiding there will save you from the Pursuit of Death?”
