Reborn In The Three Kingdoms

The next night after their meeting, Lu Bu killed Ding Yuan, cut off his head, and presented it to Dong Zhuo, who had by then seized control of the Imperial Court and Luoyang. This marks the beginning of Dong Zhuo’s reign of terror and tyranny over Luoyang and the Han Dynasty.

Xu Kai and Oriole, who at the cover of the light see everything unfolding with their own eyes, compiled 5 letters that were sent to Xiapi at the fastest speed to inform Lie Fan and Jia Xu of what had just happened in Luoyang.

At Xiapi, when Lie Fan and Jia Xu received this letter they were shocked. Even though they have predicted that something would happen, especially Lie Fan who is from the future they don’t expect that it will come so soon.

Lie Fan immediately held an emergency meeting, he called for all of his advisors to meet him at his residence, and there a spacious room was prepared for them to hold this secret meeting.

Lie Fan: ”Everyone, I have received the news that Doing Zhuo has usurped power in Luoyang now. He Jin died in his struggle against the eunuchs, and the eunuchs were killed by Yuan Shao, Yuan Shu, and Dong Zhuo.

Chen Gui: ”Then will we send help My Lord? With how things progressing right now, it will not be long until Dong Zhuo truly controls the Han Dynasty, and we will not know what he would done at that time.”

Jia Xu: ”I think we should abstain, Dong Zhuo would not be stupid enough to provoke all of the Governors, especially Liu Biao and Liu Ye who are Imperial Uncles of the Emperor.”

Xun You: ”Military power-wise, our numbers are below Dong Zhuo who now controls almost 200,000 soldiers in Luoyang alone. He left some of his soldiers behind in his base in Xiliang.”

Lie Fan: ”Just like what Jia Xu said, we will abstain from doing anything. Let’s just send a declaration, of us congratulating Doing Zhuo for saving the Emperor, at the same time criticizing him for what he is doing, and asking him to return power back to Emperor Shao.”

Jia Xu: ”I agree with what My Lord said, Master Cai Yong makes it sound threatening but just empty words without action that will be done.”

Cai Ying who is the Head of the Writing department, immediately made up the draft in his mind placing the words he would write. It needs to be like what Jia Xu said, with strong words but people like them can see that it was just empty words.

Chen Deng: ”My Lord, how about General Zhu Jun, Huangfu Song, and Lu Zhi who are in Luoyang right now? Rather than the following Doing Zhuo albeit forced by him, Why don’t we smuggle them with their family out from Luoyang?’’

Mi Zhu: ”What Chen Deng said is right My Lord, I can use my contact there and tell the merchants that agree to relocate to Xu Province can start right now.”

Lie Fan: ”That’s right! Thank you Chen Deng and Mi Zhu for reminding me. Just do like what Mi Zhu said, if the Generals don’t want to relocate don’t force them, Jia Xu tells Xu Kai to assign Orioles to protect them and their family.”

Jia Xu: ”Yes My Lord!”

Next, Lie Fan assigned Sun Qian to Wang Lang to have frequent contact with the neighboring governor to maintain relations.

Right now with the Central Government crippled and The Emperor powerless, a puppet for Doing Zhuo the local government such as his will begin to ignore the central government’s order.

As the strongest power in the central plain other than Dong Zhuo, Lie Fan’s attitude is the attitude that will be followed by his neighbors. Soon, Lie Fan’s missive was announced to the land.

The common people immediately applauded and supported Lie Fan’s missive, while upper-class people all knew that Lie Fan’s missive was just empty words.

Dong Zhuo who had promoted himself to the Excellency of Works was offended by Lie Fan’s missive, and wanted to retaliate against him immediately. Li Ru sees through the missive and informs Dong Zhuo that Lie Fan only barks and no action.

Dong Zhuo who heard this was immediately pleased, he sneered that Lie Fan was now below him and didn’t dare to offend him. The people at the Imperial Court were disappointed and even angry that Lie Fan acted like that, Cao Cao was left confused as to why Lie Fan didn’t attack Dong Zhuo’s position which is still vulnerable right now.

Only Zhu Jun, Huangfu Song, Lu Zhi, and Sima Famg knew the reason why Lie Fan did that. Oriole members have approached them, asking them to hurry to relocate alongside their family to Xiapi where it’s safer.

They were reluctant at first, but after Dong Zhuo promised himself and all of his cronies, especially Lu Bu who betrayed Ding Yuan they knew their chances of staying alive in Luoyang were very slim if they didn’t support Dong Zhuo.

Even if they were alive, they could only follow Dong Zhuo’s whims which infuriated them, especially Huangfu Song who already had a beef with Dong Zhuo. When they agree, Xu Kai with the help of Mi Zhu’s contact begins to prepare to smuggle 3 clans out of Luoyang which is not a small feat.

While Xu Kai was preparing to smuggle the generals and their families out, Dong Zhuo began to do whatever he wanted. After promoting himself to the Excellency Of Works, the officials who opposed him were either deposed or killed by him.

Dong Zhuo’s conduct towards the Imperial court and the imperial officials was bullying, oppressive, and frequently bloody. This prompted influential nobles such as Yuan Shao, Yuan Shu, and Cao Cao to oppose him, which Dong Zhuo held back from killing due to Li Ru’s persuasion.

Li Ru then suggested to Dong Zhuo to depose Emperor Shao that’s is Liu Bian, and change the Emperor to Liu Xie Prince of Chenliu Liu Bian’s brother, and named him Emperor Xian.

Dong Zhuo agreed with this plan, so he approached Yuan Shao who is the leader of the Noble to discuss his plan with him. Yuan Shao who was enticed by the prospect of having more power at the time disagreed with Dong Zhuo’s suggestion.

This refusal caused the relationship between the two to deteriorate even further, Yuan Shao saw this and feared for his life to escape to Ji Province and Yuan Shu followed suit fleeing to Nanyang Commandery.

At the time, Yuan Shao had just gotten through the city gates, Dong Zhuo thought about sending men after him, but Zhou Bi, Wu Qiong, and He Yong secretly helped Yuan Shao by convincing Dong Zhuo to let him go.

As suggested by the three men, Dong Zhuo appointed Yuan Shao as the Administrator of the Bohai Commandery in a bid to appease him and Yuan Shu as the Administrator of Nanyang.

Losing two of their political heavyweight, Cao Cao resumed the position of Yuan Shao representing the Noble at the Imperial Court. When Dong Zhuo saw there was no more opposition, deposed Emperor Shao and replaced him with Liu Xie or Emperor Xian, Empress Dowager He could only watch this happen without any resistance.

Dong Zhuo then declared himself Chancellor of the State, becoming the head of the imperial court in Luoyang causing massive protests and chaos. This caused much opposition from inside the Imperial Court itself, abusing his power and even daring to put the younger Liu Xie on the throne decorating himself regent.

The opposition was purged, and Dong Zhuo then threw a lavish banquet to celebrate his rise to power. Wang Yun keep leading the officials that dared to oppose Dong Zhuo’s reign of terror, but their resistance to Dong Zhuo’s reign is futile.

Xu Kai and the Orioles were going in and out of the palace every day, while preparing to smuggle the old generals and their families out they also collected information about Dong Zhuo and the states of his army, how much and how experienced.

2 weeks passed by, and Dong Zhuo’s reign became more and more tyrannical. He goes in and out of the Imperial Harem like it’s his own, sleeping with the ladies and concubines of the deceased Emperor Ling.

Many people tried to kill him this past 2 weeks, but Lu Bu Dong Zhuo’s foster son and bodyguard are always at his side. With his Martial might and prowess, all assassins, spies, and mercenaries were wiped out by Lu Bu before they even reached Dong Zhuo.

When Xu Kai’s preparations were done, he and the old generals were waiting for the right moment to smuggle themselves out of Luoyang. Suddenly there’s news that Cao Cao tried to assassinate Dong Zhuo but failed, he is now on the run with his cousins fleeing Luoyang.

The entirety of Dong Zhuo’s forces are focused on chasing Cao Cao and his cousins, this created the perfect moment for the old generals and their families to be smuggled out. As Cao Cao is fleeing through the eastern gate, heading toward Yan Province Xu Kai told Mi Zhi’s contact to get out from the western gate.

From there they will go to Hongnong, then go with Wan, then go east passing Runan and Shouchun, and lastly go north to their destination Xiapi. They will spend more time but it’s safer than walking through the eastern gate, where Dong Zhuo’s forces are focused on there right now.

Xu Kai: ”General Zhu Jun and the others, rest assured that my people will be watching you from the shadows to keep all of you safe.”

Zhu Jun: ”Thank You, Xu Kai. Are you sure it’s okay for three clans such as ours to disappear without any traces whatsoever and causing suspicion?”

Lu Zhi: ”Old Zhu, I think this is the only way we can leave even if it’s suspicious. Don’t you see how Yuan Shao’s clan will be treated, if not because of the persuasion of those old foxes all of them will be dead by now.”

Huangfu Song: ”Fortunately the one guarding Hongnong right now is a subordinate of mine, we can pass safely and I think Dong Zhuo will not realize we are gone until we pass through Hongnong.”

Xu Kai: ”As General Lu Zhi and Huangfu Song said, it doesn’t matter now, and don’t worry it will be safe, My Lord still has a say in the military matters of the Han Dynasty so when you pass through Runan a detachment of soldier will be there waiting to protect you.”

That night following their plan, Xu Kai and the oriole disguised as City Guards take control of the western gate. There, Kong Hao Mi Zhu’s contact acts as a leader of a big Merchant Caravan that will bring their merchandise to sell in Liang Province.

Even though Xu Kai and the Orioles managed to infiltrate disguised as the City Guards, there were also Dong Zhuo soldiers guarding the gate. Fortunately, with a little bribe, they passed through easily, and from there Zhu Jun, Huangfu Song, and Lu Zhi alongside their family began a long drive to Xiapi.

Just like Xu Kai and Lu Zhi predicted, when the party managed to pass through Hongnong, Dong Zhuo, and Ki Ru realized that the influential generals alongside their families were gone.

Dong Zhuo was angry and even ordered the execution of the soldier guarding the western gate, alongside some Court Officials whom he thought helped the generals escape from Luoyang causing another blood spilled in the Imperial Court.

All of this news and information about what happened in Luoyang, arrived at Lie Fan’s and Jia Xu’s table as a report from Oriole. In the future when people find these letters, Lie Fan and Jia Xu will be called The Political Puppeteers with their presence everywhere guiding the downfall of the Han Dynasty as they let all of this happen.
