Dragon Canon

The moment Xuanwei Six sank into the ground, Wei Yuan’s mind went blank for an instant. The four Great Warlocks also experienced the same thing.

Two Great Warlocks immediately rushed toward the battlefield. The third Great Warlock was slightly slower and was intercepted by Rock Heart.

“What are you doing? I haven’t given you an order!” Rock Heart roared.

The Great Warlock stared coldly at him. “If Lord Shu Li doesn’t die, Lord Sacred Heart will be fine, but just think what will become of you!”

His defiance surprised Rock Heart. The Great Warlock seized the opening to pull himself free and fly toward the battlefield.

Only one Great Warlock remained where he was, smiling obsequiously. “What should we do now?”

Seeing his expression, Rock Heart suddenly felt an inexplicable wave of disgust. “Shut up,” he snapped coldly, “No one asked you to speak up!”

Inside the realm of Qingming, Trueman Chu He rose to full height and brandished his eight immortal swords. They radiated a brilliant light as he intercepted two of the Great Warlocks. Yu Zhizhuo, wielding a golden spiked hammer, engaged the third.

Sun Yu held a pill furnace in his hands and looked everywhere, but no one went for him.

Seeing that exceptionally large Great Warlock was still standing in place, Wei Yuan furrowed his brows. His mind raced as he replayed every past event in his head.

His aura suddenly surged, causing an inexplicable spike of dread in every Shaman surrounding him. They instinctively stepped away from him.

Wei Yuan stood where he was, gazing toward Rock Heart in the distance. His calm, steady voice echoed throughout the entire realm, clear to every human and Shaman. “I remember now. You have a leader who looks human. He must have been born from a human. The child he will bear in the future will also be human.”

Crack! In the Beyond, it sounded as though something had shattered.

Red veins and black threads spread across all six of Rock Heart’s eyes, his pupils vanishing entirely. At the same time, two streams of white flame shot from its nostrils as it roared in fury, “You are courting death!!”

A broad road carved out of stone appeared in the sky. Rock Heart strode on top of it and charged into the realm like a moving mountain mountain range.

Two loud thuds echoed as a cat and a snake burst from their hiding places, only to be sent flying by Rock Heart. Immediately afterward, eight immortal swords materialized out of thin air and pierced his body!

Suddenly, the faint image of a cyan mountain appeared around Rock Heart. The eight immortal swords were all embedded in the mountain, causing it to dim slightly.

Trueman Chu He laughed awkwardly. “‘Twas a slip of the hand, a slip of the hand!”

He quickly withdrew his immortal swords and ran off into the distance, bringing the two Great Warlocks with him. If he hadn’t withdrawn his immortal swords, the two Great Warlocks would likely shatter his mystic body.

Rock Heart paid the old Daoist no heed and continued walking toward Wei Yuan.

Sun Yu opened the pill furnace in his hand and flicked his finger three times in the Great Warlock’s direction. Three black spots instantly appeared on his body, oozing pus and blood. Astonishingly, the cyan hill protecting Rock Heart turned out to be completely ineffective. However, his body was so big that the three black spots were akin to mosquito bites, and they couldn’t spread at all.

Sun Yu didn’t strike again. Instead, he tipped his pill furnace downward. Downwind, hundreds of Shaman soldiers suddenly turned green in the face, convulsed, and collapsed to the ground.

Several Warlocks flew into a rage and unleashed a green energy to shield the remaining soldiers. At the same time, they hurled blood curses at Sun Yu. Despite the blood-red cloud hanging overhead and the mist of blood swirling around him, the healer remained utterly unfazed. He kept pointing at the Warlocks, causing black spots to appear on their body. They were not Rock Heart, so the black spots were massive and spreading constantly. In the blink of an eye, the two Warlocks had collapsed, and their bodies turned a sickly black color.

Suddenly, a blue immortal sword fell from the sky right in front of Rock Heart!

For the first time, Rock Heart’s expression turned serious. The cyan mountain surrounding him solidified from ethereal to tangible, transforming into several unbelievably thick rock shields that swirled around him. Another immortal sword descended, and one of the rock shields suddenly shattered. Rock Heart’s face paled slightly.

In the blink of an eye, a third immortal sword landed to Rock Heart’s right. This time, three rock shields exploded simultaneously, and the tip of one of his fangs developed a crack!

The fourth immortal sword looked almost intangible. It was slowly descending.

Shock and fury flashed across Rock Heart’s face, yet his expression remained fierce. His body suddenly swelled once more, and he transformed into a gigantic monster over ten zhang in size in the blink of an eye!

The life force within Rock Heart was intense like a blazing immortal sun. Such formidable vitality was something Wei Yuan had never witnessed in his entire life! In terms of life force alone, he was not much inferior to True Lord Xuan Yue!

There was a soft swish, and all four immortal swords fell into position. The sword array was now ready!

One by one, the four immortal swords shattered. With each shatter, Rock Heart let out a pained roar, and a vast amount of vitality vanished into thin air. When the fourth immortal sword disappeared, nearly a quarter of Rock Heart’s vitality was obliterated at once—equivalent to the combined total of the previous three.

Zhang Sheng’s face was terribly pale at the moment, a strange flush flitting across his cheeks. He had unleashed all his might with those four strikes, yet he had only managed to sever half of Rock Heart’s vitality! It was so vast and persistent that it bore a faint resemblance to that of the ancient Kunpeng or Blue Sky Mystic Whale!

Wei Yuan was born with sharp senses. Others might not notice anything, but he clearly discerned the shifts and changes in Rock Heart’s vitality. A strange thought suddenly crossed his mind: Has shifu become so powerful that he could kill half a Founder Xuan Yue in four strikes?

But of course, the founder possessed profound mastery of the Dao. There was no way he would allow Zhang Sheng to strike him at will. In fact, he could render the man’s swords completely ineffective with just a fraction of his true power.

The Devil Suppressing Nine Level Pagoda finally made its appearance, bearing down on Rock Heart’s head. However, he casually reached out with his hand, and the fourth Great Warlock suddenly appeared in his grip. Rock Heart then hurled the Great Warlock into the pagoda.

The Devil Suppressing Nine Level Pagoda immediately came to a halt. Ji Liuli and the Great Warlock inside the pagoda then engaged each other in a desperate, life-or-death struggle.

Rock Heart cracked his neck, sending countless sparks flying from his mane. He then sneered at Wei Yuan and asked, “Who else is left to protect you, boy?”

Wei Yuan took a deep breath.

Suddenly, a violent gale swept through Qingming. It was as if the entire realm had taken a deep breath!

Wei Yuan pressed a hand toward Rock Heart. A ring of light several zhang in diameter suddenly exploded before him, and from the center of the ring shot a dazzling column of water—one that looked like it was packed to the brim with stars—that instantly reached Rock Heart!

Every hair on Rock Heart’s body stood on end. His six eyes widened in shock as three rock shields instantly materialized before him. He was even stacking them together to maximize his defense.

The next moment, the water column struck the rock shields. For every flick of a finger[1], countless Water Blades were slicing and carving through the rock shields, sending tiny stone shards and mists of water everywhere. Not only was the impact continuously generating a vast, misty cloud, the natural glow of the Dao spell was producing rainbows here and there as well.

Rock Heart felt as though a gaping hole had been ripped open in his mystic energy, causing it to gush out furiously. The first two rock shields were pierced in the blink of an eye, as if they didn’t even exist!

Rock Heart braced his hands against the third rock shield. Amidst a furious roar, more layers of rock shields materialized only to be destroyed nearly the very instant they appeared.

Rock Heart felt as thought billions of tiny knives were continuously slicing at him, yet he had no choice but to block the attack. After all, once the rock shields were gone, the water column would strike directly at his mystic body!

Defensive spells, mystic energy structures, indestructible mystic body—all were laughable in the face of this water column containing billions of tiny Water Blades, crumbling the moment they made contact. Only by desperately spewing out mystic energy and continuously creating rock shields could Rock Heart barely withstand its relentless assault.

The attack fully aroused Rock Heart’s bestial nature. He roared, “Let’s see how long you can keep this up!!”

A Dao spell this terrifying must consume an astronomical amount of Dao energy. An immortal foundation could barely cast it, and an ordinary heaven foundation definitely couldn’t. If this Dao spell was sustained for even a short while, it could drain even an Avatar down to a withered husk. Wei Yuan was merely an early-stage Dao Foundation stage cultivator—how long could he possibly hold out?

Rock Heart was determined to see this through until the end. He refused to believe that he, bearer of an ancient bloodline, could not outlast a mere Dao Foundation like Wei Yuan.

However, the river of blades kept flowing as if it would never cease. In truth, Wei Yuan was in a special state at the moment. Ever since his Dao Foundation became fused with Qingming, it had been in a constant state of manifestation. Not only was the realm stone constantly absorbing and converting worldly origin qi, the Great Realm was continually absorbing and releasing spirit qi as well. This meant that, in addition to Wei Yuan’s own Dao energy, Qingming had stockpiled a vast reservoir of Dao energy as well.

Strictly speaking, the Dao energy stored within Qingming did not truly belong to Wei Yuan. Not only could he not access it outside of Qingming’s domain, the energy would continually leak out of him. But inside its domain, he wasn’t just one Wei Yuan—he was many Wei Yuans.

Thus, Rock Heart’s eyes shifted from fury to astonishment, then from astonishment to terror.

His mystic energy was nearly exhausted, yet Wei Yuan’s Dao spell showed no signs of ceasing. If this continued, he would have to rely solely on his mystic body to withstand the assault. But even if he were mad, he would never dare to block a blade current capable of slicing through everything with his mystic body.

Left with no choice, Rock Heart set aside his desire to subdue the junior through sheer strength and took out a small box Sacred Heart had given to him. He then crushed it with all his might. A drop of azure-blue[2] blood instantly shot into the sky, followed by the rumbling of thunder. Then, an azure-blue lightning bolt coiled and descended from above.

Four immortal swords reappeared in the sky, attempting to intercept it together. However, the azure-blue lightning completely ignored the swords and struck Wei Yuan directly!

The azure-blue lightning was called the Azure Wood Heavenly God Thunder. It could shatter all illusions and obliterate all barriers, yet leaving a sliver of hope. Among the myriad heavens, it was considered the immortal thunder of life.

With a soft crack, every tangible and intangible barrier surrounding Wei yuan shattered. Right now, he was like a raw egg that was stripped of its shell, with everything inside laid bare for inspection. At the moment, only his fortune remained functional.

The moment is finally here... Wei Yuan’s mind raced at an unprecedented speed.

In the Beyond, several indescribably terrifying wills turned their gaze toward him, scrutinizing the contents within Wei Yuan.

In the split second before those gazes fully reached him, the girl who had been standing motionless in his Dao Foundation all this time suddenly opened her eyes, revealing eyes of stark black and white. It was a sight that instantly sent Wei Yuan’s soul flying to the heavens in terror.

The full moon turned around, revealing its dark side. The shadow within it was spreading outward, as if preparing to step into this realm.

It moved with a gentle, unhurried grace, like a noble lady who had just woken up from her afternoon nap and was about to touch up her makeup. Wei Yuan felt like it was moving very, very slowly, yet the descending gazes were even slower than the shadow.

It cannot come out no matter what! The thought instinctively flashed through Wei Yuan’s mind.

In a moment of desperation, Wei Yuan yanked out the branch of the Bay Laurel Immortal Tree and hurled it skyward, causing it to collide with the gazes.

Qingming suddenly fell silent. A massive full moon had appeared in the sky before anyone noticed it, showering the human realm with moonlight and bathing everything in a cool, silvery glow.

A Bay Laurel Immortal Tree appeared above Wei Yuan’s head. It was white-gold in color and dozens of zhang tall. The tree was in full bloom, its white-gold petals tinged with a faint red.

The Bay Laurel Immortal Tree swayed of its own accord, raining star-like petals all over the ground.

Suddenly, the blade current in Wei Yuan’s hand transformed into petals, instantly piercing through the rock shields and Rock Heart’s arms and body in an instant.

While everyone was still stunned by the aura of the immortal tree, a long spear appeared in Wei Yuan’s hand, and countless pecks of light flew in from every corner of Qingming. They converged at the spear’s tip and coalesced into a faint, dim yellow glow.

Wei Yuan appeared before Rock Heart and thrust the spear through his throat!

Rock Heart let out an earth-shattering, blood-curdling scream as his neck shattered. The next moment, the Great Warlock abandoned his broken mystic body and flew off as a head, instantly disappearing into the horizon!

But no matter how quickly he fled, everyone could see that his once-proud mane had turned completely white.

Twilight of the Immortal Path!

Wei Yuan did not pursue him. That one strike had shaved at least three thousands years of Rock Heart’s lifespan. Even if he managed to escape back to his realm, he would have little time left to live.

The sky returned to calm, and the gazes were withdrawn. The inexplicable, oppressive weight that had previously shrouded the entire realm of Qingming vanished. It was as if the dust that had accumulated on everyone’s bodies across the years had finally been washed away.

With Rock Heart gravely wounded and on the run, the Shaman army lost all will to fight. War horns sounded continuously from the rear ranks as the army entered into formations and mounted an organized retreat. Two Great Warlocks escaped the realm with lightning speed, but the third was surrounded by four immortal swords and dissolved into a cloud of blood in the blink of an eye.

The fourth Great Warlock was still struggling inside the Devil Suppressing Nine Level Pagoda, completely unaware of the happenings outside. Faced with certain doom, he had fought with fierce bravery and even managed to inflict a minor wound on Ji Liuli. However, Sun Yu was already rushing to her side with a vial of medicine and a pill cauldron.

Wei Yuan’s mind relaxed, and strength fled his body like the wind. He grew so weak he could not even hold onto his spear. It slipped from his grasp and hit the ground with a soft thud.

It was finally over... For the time being, the titans of the Shaman should stop focusing on Wei Yuan and shift their attention elsewhere[3].

However, Wei Yuan’s situation had not improved. If anything, it had grown even worse. After all, the entire world now knew he possessed an immortal tree.
