Chapter 263: Chapter 122: Little Auntie, You’re So Thirst-Quenching (Part 4)

”Each mansion has twenty administrative points to exchange for official and clerical positions in the Ministries of Revenue, War, Justice, and Works.”

”A high-grade clerical position costs one point.”

”A Junior Ninth-Grade Official Position costs ten points.”

”A Senior Ninth-Grade Official Position costs twenty points.”

”Subsequently, you can be promoted through the ranks based on accumulated merit, allowing you to command more resources.”

”Each mansion may decide on the allocation internally. Submit your decisions to me before you leave the Imperial Clan Court, and I will then liaise with the Ministry of Personnel.”

The members of each mansion exchanged glances.

This was an old rule of the Mansion Scramble. Once it began, all previous statuses and identities were rendered void.

Any authority one wielded depended entirely on the position they held.

Without a position, it was impossible to mobilize any relevant Court resources.

Trying to bluff or impersonate an official would even be considered a crime.

For example, if you didn’t hold the position of a constable but forced your way into someone’s home to search for evidence, they could report you and have you thrown in prison.

In short, even with potential loopholes, the system was ruthless. Every decision required deep consideration.

However, they were more concerned with the contents of the mission ledger.

But Zhao Yan changed the subject. ”Before I reveal the mission ledger, I must first inform you about the War God Tower.”

’The War God Tower?’

Everyone perked up. The first year of the Mansion Scramble was all about fighting for a spot in the War God Tower. Simply entering it could raise one’s Flesh Body Divine Pattern by at least half a grade. To miss this chance was to miss it forever.

Normally, entry to the War God Tower could only be redeemed with merit points.

’But judging by Zhao Yan’s tone... has something changed?’

Yang Mo’s expression tensed. He had calculated that relying on his own cultivation alone, it would take him a full year to reach his body’s theoretical peak.

But that peak was merely the level of a first-rate Mansion Official.

This was a level he had never even dared to dream of reaching before.

But now, he found himself dissatisfied.

Because whether he wanted to admit it or not, he was the reincarnation of the Demon Monarch.

If he were to use the Demon Sect’s resources, he could undoubtedly enter the War God Tower in a far more powerful state.

But doing so... would entangle him with that disgusting Demon Monarch once more.

He wrestled with the thought for a long time before finally suppressing it.

’But now it seemed the situation with the War God Tower had changed?’

Zhao Yan stated calmly, ”The War God Tower has been unusually active recently. Its opening will be moved forward to mid-April of next year. As compensation, all merit gained from missions this year will be increased by thirty percent. Furthermore, a spring hunt will be arranged in March, with additional War God Tower slots allocated based on each mansion’s ranking!”

Yang Mo: ”???”

’April?’

’That’s only six months away!’

’I... I...’

’Does this mean I have to rely on the Demon Sect’s resources after all?’

Zhang Da Yong: ”???”

’April?’

’Isn’t that too soon?’

’And...’

’Does this mean I have to send the people from the Lingge Sub-Branch to their deaths six months ahead of schedule?’

[Current Wish of Zhang Da Yong (Huangfu Song): For more than ten percent of my subordinates to survive the massacre in March of next year. Reward for Completion: Insight +1000, Life-saving Talisman x1.]

Zhao Ci: ”???”

’Son of a bitch!’

’A March massacre?’

’He’s already got it planned?’

’What kind of lunatics are in this Demon Sect?’

’Crap!’

’April?’

He quickly checked his Insight balance.

76,810.

He was still over twenty-three thousand short of the one hundred thousand needed to break through to the Physical Body Realm.

Most of the ’golden’ wishes were main storyline quests.

Only Lao Mo’s Divine Cocoon quest was doable, and there was no telling when he might complete it.

The ’purple’ wishes were proving to be one more difficult than the next.

’This is going to be tight!’

He glanced at the Possession Talisman in his hand.

’If I don’t reach the required realm, I can’t enter the War God Tower.’

’And if I can’t get into the War God Tower, how am I supposed to pocket this divine-tier relic for myself?’

His scalp prickled with anxiety.

And right at that moment, the text above Zhang Da Yong’s head changed.

[Current Wish of Zhang Da Yong (Huangfu Song): Find an opportunity to shove the Paradise Gu into Zhao Ci’s mouth. Reward for Completion: Insight +1000, Talent: Joyful Dream.]

Zhao Ci: ”???”

’Wait a second!’

’Dude! What the hell is wrong with you?’
