Chapter 105: Chapter 104: I Told You to Turn Around

Yao Jing was the young mistress of the Liuhe Martial Arts Hall, and her family was large and powerful. Still, even in a city as vast as Mountain Mist City, she didn’t have the audacity to commit murder in broad daylight.

So she held back with this palm strike. She only intended to teach this youth a lesson, at most leaving him bedridden for half a year.

When the time came, she’d toss him two hundred taels of silver to get rid of him. If the authorities found out, she’d just grease their palms with some more silver, and the whole matter would be swept under the rug.

’He’s actually quite handsome. I’ll just give him a little extra money, then.’

As Yao Jing thought this, her hand moved without the slightest hesitation, striking toward the center of Wu Chen’s back.

It was a sneak attack, aimed at a vital spot that could either kill or cripple him.

Being bedridden for half a year to recover sounded fine, and he might seem like a normal person afterward, but with his internal organs damaged, he would have absolutely no chance of ever breaking through to the Organ Refining Realm!

Thus, this palm strike was truly vicious, aimed at destroying the very foundation of his Martial Arts!

However, just as Yao Jing’s palm was a single step away from the figure, she saw him suddenly twist his body.

”Not bad reflexes, but too late...”

”The distance of one step is just too short. Whether you try to draw a blade or raise a hand to block, you have no chance of stopping this.”

Seeing her opponent react, Yao Jing snorted coldly, exceptionally confident.

”...”

Wu Chen naturally noticed the unnatural rush of air behind him. He wasn’t afraid, of course, but he was surprised that someone from the Liuhe Martial Arts Hall could be so brazen as to attack someone on the street in broad daylight.

As he turned, he swung one leg out in a kick, the tip of his foot aiming straight for the Liuhe Martial Arts Hall’s young mistress’s lower abdomen.

An arm is no match for a leg. Even though his kick was launched second, it was a strike driven by momentum, and to the naked eye, it was clear it would land before Yao Jing’s palm.

At such a short distance, Yao Jing had no way to dodge. As she frantically tried to move her body out of the way, she pushed her palm toward Wu Chen with even more force.

But it was obvious the outcome could not be changed.

BOOM!

THUD!

Amidst the dull thuds, the scenery flew backward around Yao Jing. A searing pain from her lower abdomen made her whole body convulse, as if a lifetime’s worth of menstrual cramps had all arrived on this single day.

She flew backward without any resistance, her body slamming heavily onto the martial arts hall’s stone steps. The impact from her stout body made the entire entrance gate of the hall tremble slightly.

However, before the first pained groan could escape her throat, a gust of wind swept by, and a figure appeared before her.

An icy voice sounded by her ear:

”Turn around.”

”Wha...t?”

The powerful physique of a third-level Jade Bone Realm cultivator meant that after the impact, Yao Jing only felt a tightness in her chest and couldn’t speak, but she could hear the newcomer’s words.

Before she could understand what he meant, she felt the scalp on the back of her head tighten, and her body was involuntarily forced to face away from him.

Panic seized her heart.

Whether in a fight between Martial Artists or in any other matter, exposing one’s back to an enemy was the greatest taboo.

But how could she resist now? She only felt something as hard as refined steel pressing against the back of her head, pinning her so tightly she couldn’t move.

Then, Yao Jing’s vision rose higher and higher. The gray-white stone steps of the martial arts hall grew more distant until her head was suspended about two feet away.

And then...

”Ugly people sure do cause a lot of trouble...”

She heard a faint, almost illusory phrase drift over. Then, her scalp tightened, wind rushed past her ears, and her head was viciously slammed down toward the stone steps.

WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

In her vision, the distance to the steps closed in an instant. Then came the icy temperature of the stone against her face, immediately followed by a pain that pierced her very soul.

She tried to resist, but her struggles were utterly futile.

THUD! THUD! THUD!...

A series of dull thuds echoed on the martial arts hall’s steps. By the time Yao Jing felt the intense pain spreading from her nose, mouth, and face, she had already been smashed against the stone at least three times.

Her head swelled, and soon she could no longer feel the pain. Her vision turned a hazy gray, and she couldn’t even manage the weakest cry for help.

She could only endure as her body was lifted and slammed down again and again, with no control over her own fate.

”...”

Wu Chen didn’t speak; he just kept slamming her head.

He gripped the hair on the back of the Liuhe Martial Arts Hall’s young mistress’s head, relentlessly smashing her down.

Soon, Yao Jing’s hair was a mess, and her breathing was as faint as a thread.

Blood and filth gushed from her nose and mouth, staining the steps a bright crimson. The sound of her hard teeth scraping against the gray-white stone was enough to make one’s scalp tingle.

The old Martial Artist at the side was scared stiff watching this. He wanted to go and help, but seeing the young mistress pinned and beaten in the blink of an eye, without even the strength to resist...

...he feared that if he, a mere Meridian Passage Realm cultivator, rushed in to help, his old bones would be crushed.

”Quick, go get the master!”

He cried out, finally remembering to call for reinforcements.

At his shout, the few Guards and Martial Artists at the entrance also snapped to their senses. With a great RUSH, they all scrambled into the martial arts hall.

The old Martial Artist: ”...”

’One person would have been enough, what’s the deal with the whole group going?!’

Fortunately, the terrifying sound of heavy impacts finally stopped, allowing him to breathe a small sigh of relief.

”...”

Wu Chen stared coldly at the limp heap in his grasp. Feeling that she had learned her lesson, he finally released her hair.

THUD!

Yao Jing lay limply on the ground, her hair in disarray. The faint rise and fall of her shoulders showed she was still breathing.

Yao Jing was at the third level of the Jade Bone Realm. With injuries sustained at this realm, as long as she was fed enough medicinal soups and pills, she could recover.

Besides, with the Liuhe Martial Arts Hall’s immense wealth, this amount of money was not a problem.

Of course, the fact that Yao Jing was still breathing was also a result of Wu Chen showing mercy.

If he had slammed her head directly onto the sharp edges of the steps, no matter how hard her bones were, her brain would have splattered from the violent, rapid impacts, turning her into a pile of gore.

”What a pity...”

If this had been a deserted place, Yao Jing’s earlier actions would have been enough to earn her a death sentence.

Wu Chen was completely unafraid. He looked toward the entrance of the hall, from where the sound of hurried footsteps echoed. It was clear the reinforcements the hall had summoned were arriving.

He swept another cold glance around the empty entrance of the hall. The lone Martial Artist, who was already keeping his distance, retreated even further.

He clearly had no desire to provoke this vicious fiend.

Fortunately, he didn’t have to wait long before two powerful, resonant voices called out from within the hall behind him:

”What villain dares to cause trouble here! To harm my granddaughter!”

”Who dares to act so presumptuously at the Liuhe Martial Arts Hall!”

Hearing the familiar voices, the Martial Artist at the entrance couldn’t hide the joy on his face. He boldly took a few steps closer to Wu Chen.

As the voices faded, two figures and a large group of Martial Artists and Guards rushed out of the hall’s main gate. A dark mass of people quickly surrounded Wu Chen.

The most conspicuous among the arrivals were an old man and a younger one. Both wore wide, black shirts and bore a slight resemblance to each other, appearing to be father and son.

Their gazes first fell on Yao Jing, who was panting on the stone steps, before slowly turning to the perpetrator below.

”You bastard! How dare you harm my daughter! Die!” The middle-aged man didn’t bother asking who was right or wrong, or what the reason was.

Seeing his daughter on the steps weakly lift her head, her face covered in blood, his expression instantly became savage with rage. He immediately snatched a steel saber from a nearby Guard and was about to charge at Wu Chen.

But he was stopped by the older, gray-haired man.

”Stand down!”

Yao Hua barked the order. The middle-aged man stopped reluctantly, shot an angry glare at Wu Chen, then turned to the crowd of Guards and snapped:

”What are you standing around for? Hurry up and carry the young mistress inside!”

After a flurry of panicked activity, Yao Jing was hastily carried into the martial arts hall.

Only then did the old hall master, Yao Hua, speak slowly:

”Young friend, I wonder for what reason you came to my Liuhe Martial Arts Hall to cause trouble and dealt such a heavy hand to my granddaughter.”

”If you don’t give us an explanation today, I’m afraid this matter will not end well.”

His voice was cold, brimming with killing intent.

But Wu Chen didn’t respond, which made Yao Hua’s gaze grow even colder. Just as he was about to make a move, he saw the young man take out a palm-sized Jade Pendant that was translucent and lustrous.

Although Yao Hua was old, his eyesight was excellent. He easily saw the two words engraved in gold on the Jade Pendant Wu Chen held up.

”Refining Valley!”

His expression immediately tensed. He knew this was a major problem.

He had seen this Jade Pendant before. At the very least, only an Inner Sect Disciple would have one like it.

But Wu Chen’s was even more translucent and larger in size. He feared this was the personal disciple of an Elder!

’A personal disciple...!’ Staring at the Jade Pendant, Yao Hua’s lips grew dry. He cursed his granddaughter in his heart for provoking someone so important.

’Even if you’re going to bully someone, you should pick on the weak ones!’

”...”

Wu Chen could feel that the man’s aggressive aura had vanished the instant he revealed the Jade Pendant from Refining Valley.

He even suspected that if he were to shout that the Liuhe Martial Arts Hall was harboring demonic cultivators and that he was here to apprehend them...

...the surrounding Guards and Martial Artists would immediately turn on the hall, just to leave a good impression on Refining Valley.

After all, compared to the four great sects, the Liuhe Martial Arts Hall was nothing.

But Wu Chen clearly had no time for such thoughts. He put the Jade Pendant away and said slowly:

”I came to the Liuhe Martial Arts Hall to learn Martial Arts. It would have been one thing if this young woman had simply refused me, but she also tried to attack me.”

”And the result is obvious. She lost.”
