Urban All-Round Master

Capítulo 1438: Chapter 1472: Investigating Liu Ruyan’s Secret

At four in the afternoon, after receiving a call from Nangong Bing, Lin Zifeng hurried off to Tianyu Group to pick her up.

Sitting inside the Porsche, Lin Zifeng held a cigarette in his mouth, feeling exceptionally good. Now that Instructor Phantom had successfully awakened, the weight on his heart was suddenly lifted.

Instructor Phantom had died for him, so there was always a knot in Lin Zifeng’s heart…

Soon, more and more employees and executives of Tianyu Group were leaving work.

Dozens of luxury cars and quite a few glamorous women were driving out in succession from the East Gate…

Lin Zifeng’s Porsche was parked by the road across the flowerbed.

When he saw Nangong Bing standing out from the crowd and walking towards him step by step, his Porsche honked twice.

The route Nangong Bing took was such that no one dared to approach her, and everyone in front of her made way for her to pass.

“Boom~”

When she got into the Porsche, the gazes of everyone around turned peculiar, especially the men, who went crazy seeing Nangong Bing get into Lin Zifeng’s car. They all wished they were that bastard behind the wheel.

“Old Buddha, you’re off work quite early today.” Lin Zifeng flicked the cigarette butt from his fingers and grinned at her.

“I’ll tell you something later. Let’s drive now; so many people are watching.” Nangong Bing feigned indifference.

“Alright~”

Lin Zifeng nodded and quickly drove the car out of everyone’s sight.

“Go on, what’s up?” While driving, Lin Zifeng turned his head to ask.

Nangong Bing furrowed her brows, hesitated as she moved her lips, and finally decided not to speak.

Lin Zifeng could see she was wrestling with something.

“What’s wrong? Did something happen?”

“No, I just don’t know how to tell you this.”

“Just say it, given our relationship. Didn’t you say couples should face hardships together?” Lin Zifeng blinked and kept driving.

She pondered for a few seconds, gently bit her lips, and finally revealed, “Have you noticed anything strange about Ruyan in the past two days?”

“Strange? No, I haven’t.” Lin Zifeng shook his head; he wasn’t particularly concerned about Liu Ruyan and hadn’t paid her much attention.

She’s not even my wife, why should I pay such close attention to her?

“She changed completely after coming back last night. She would laugh to herself in her room and seemed constantly dazed—a complete departure from her usual self. That’s why I’m worried about her.”

“That’s impossible. Knowing the spendthrift queen’s character, she probably bought something nice, right?” Lin Zifeng chuckled and reassured, “You shouldn’t always be so suspicious; maybe you’re just overthinking it.”

“It can’t be! I know Ruyan well. Her reactions over the past two days make me feel like she encountered something.”

This feeling was strange for Nangong Bing. At least she and Liu Ruyan didn’t have much of a gap, and Liu Ruyan usually confided in her about anything on her mind.

But ever since that night, Liu Ruyan seemed quite abnormal.

At least from Nangong Bing’s perspective, she seemed somewhat out of sorts.

“She works at Huayu Group, haven’t you noticed anything about her?”

“Why would I bother observing her for no reason? She has nothing to do with me, why should I pay attention to her?”

Damn! You’re making it seem like I’m a woman constantly spying on others.

What do you take your husband for? Geez. If I were to observe, it would be when someone’s taking a shower, right?

“…”

Nangong Bing was at a loss for words, then suddenly slapped her thigh and exclaimed, “No, I keep feeling something’s off about Ruyan. If you have time, please keep an eye on her for me. I don’t want anything to happen to her. She’s my only best friend.”

“Alright~” Lin Zifeng replied with ease.

Soon, they arrived at a Western restaurant, the one where Nangong Bing usually enjoyed her dinners.

It’s said that the chef at this restaurant is a famous French chef, though for someone like Lin Zifeng, who doesn’t know fine dining, it’s nothing short of a nightmare.

“I have an important client to meet later. Come up with me.” After opening the door, Nangong Bing said calmly.

“Sure.” Lin Zifeng nodded and then drove the car to the underground garage.

Along the way, Lin Zifeng was pondering Liu Ruyan’s recent changes.

As the Old Buddha said, though he wasn’t too clear about Liu Ruyan’s recent changes, Zhang Mengjie kept an eye on her every day.

According to Zhang Mengjie, Liu Ruyan’s recent work state was fine.

As to how her work was today, Lin Zifeng hadn’t asked.

He then pulled out his phone and called Zhang Mengjie.

“Young Master Lin, what can I do for you?” came Zhang Mengjie’s soft, warm voice on the other end.

Today, Instructor Phantom’s awakening made the entire upper echelon of Nan Tianmen very happy.

After spending so much time, they finally pulled Phantom back from the gates of hell.

“Help me check if there are any suspicious people among the clients Liu Ruyan has received recently, and report on her work status. I want to know how she usually works at Huayu Group.”

“Okay, hold on just a bit. I’ll get back to you in five minutes.”

After hanging up, Lin Zifeng was full of confidence. As long as he was in Zhonghai City, there was almost nothing he couldn’t do.

This—was the influence of the South Heavenly Gate.

Soon—five minutes passed, and after parking the car, Lin Zifeng opened his phone and received a short video from Zhang Mengjie. It contained carefully compiled clips of Liu Ruyan at work recently, as well as information on clients she’s received.

Lin Zifeng skimmed through it; Liu Ruyan, in the video, was as serious and meticulous in her work as usual, showcasing half of Nangong Bing’s style.

Zhang Mengjie even checked her phone records and found no suspicious clients.

Any calls with Liu Ruyan lasting over ten minutes were scrutinized as well.

There was nothing suspicious.

“Seems I was being overly suspicious.”

Lin Zifeng muttered to himself. Just as he put away his phone, ready to leave the underground garage, a classic red Ferrari brushed past him. If he’d moved his butt back a little farther, he was sure that car would have kissed it.

“Damn! Is this driving or trying to hit someone?” Lin Zifeng cursed loudly.

“Screech~” The car stopped, and out came a tall woman with a revealing outfit, baring both cleavage and butt.

She wore thick-framed glasses, giving off an air of steadiness, though her outfit was anything but steady~

The woman then walked around in high heels to the other side to open the door for a young man to get out, a guy probably in his thirties.

The man wasn’t particularly handsome, but his features were sharp.

On first glance, he gave off the air of a successful person.

When the man appeared, he was fastening the buttons on his suit, his indifferent gaze seemingly looking down on the whole world.
