From Broken Family to Life Winner: A Reborn Mother's Journey

Su Li knew Yu Zhengqing well enough to see his dazed confusion at a glance.

She didn’t want him to be so confused, but... this wasn’t the right time to talk.

Su Li looked at the still-bleeding wound on Wu Sheng’s hand.

”Yu Zhengqing, I’m going to take him to get his wound treated first.”

Yu Zhengqing could only swallow the thousand words he wanted to say, watching helplessly as Su Li took her leave.

”...Alright.”

”Be careful on your way back. Goodbye.”

After saying goodbye to Yu Zhengqing, Su Li glanced at Tang Yuanxiao, who had been standing by the whole time.

Tang Yuanxiao’s gaze and expression made Su Li’s hands clench.

’Tang Yuanxiao, Wu Sheng, Yu Zhengqing...’

’The three of them, all appearing before me at the same time, under these circumstances.’

’The scene I dreaded most just happened, without any warning.’

’When Tang Yuanxiao and Wu Sheng said they would pursue me at the same time, I was constantly on edge, afraid of hurting one of them.’

’But what was the result...? I hurt them both...’

’And in the end, the hurt had to continue.’

Su Li’s eyes trembled for a moment. She stopped looking at Tang Yuanxiao, took a step forward, and murmured, ”Goodbye.” Without waiting for his response, she pulled Wu Sheng away.

Wu Sheng let her pull him along. Midway, he glanced back at Tang Yuanxiao with an unreadable expression, before his gaze finally landed on Yu Zhengqing, sharp as a knife.

The chubby driver watched them walk away, not daring to make a sound.

Yu Zhengqing watched them disappear into the distance, then looked at Tang Yuanxiao. He forced a smile, murmured a quiet ”goodbye,” and also left in the opposite direction.

Only Tang Yuanxiao was left behind.

He remained frozen in place, not moving an inch from his earlier position.

The chubby driver didn’t dare to move, waiting for him to leave. But after a long while, Tang Yuanxiao still hadn’t budged.

It was as if he could stand there until the end of time.

Until the end of time. Until the heavens grow desolate and the earth grows old.

The chubby driver watched Tang Yuanxiao for a while. His fear subsided, replaced by a heavy feeling as he looked at the man.

He, who had never known what a heavy heart felt like, couldn’t find the words to describe it, but he felt an inexplicable sense of discomfort.

His spirits low, he quietly opened his car door and left. ”It’s almost dark. How long is he going to stand there...?”

Su Li and Wu Sheng went to the hospital. The way there wasn’t far, but it wasn’t close either.

”Does it hurt a lot?” Su Li’s heart ached as she looked at the bloodstains.

Wu Sheng looked at Su Li’s expression and nodded slightly, indicating that it did.

”Try to bear it. We’re almost at the hospital. You should keep pressure on it so you don’t lose too much blood.”

Su Li furrowed her brow, her eyes filled with worry.

Wu Sheng only glanced at the wound on his hand; for the rest of the way, he basically just watched Su Li.

He kept watching her, the whole way there. He didn’t look at anything else, only Su Li.

Watching her worried face, listening to her fuss over him, the bloodlust in his eyes slowly faded, and he gradually returned to normal.

By the time they reached the hospital, Wu Sheng blinked, as if he had finally come back to life.

”Doctor, could you please treat his wound? He’s lost a lot of blood.”

Su Li called for a doctor, who took one look and shook his head.

”To the treatment room. There’s still glass in it.”

”Okay.” Su Li hurriedly led Wu Sheng over.

The treatment had just begun when Wu Sheng flinched, sucked in a sharp breath, and cried out to Su Li in pain.

”Su Li, it hurts!”

”Doctor, can’t you use an anesthetic?” Su Li asked with a frown.

”Just bear with it,” the doctor said, shaking his head.

”Come here, quick,” Wu Sheng summoned Su Li.

Su Li sat down next to Wu Sheng. He first tested the waters by leaning closer. Seeing she didn’t reject him, he went all in and rested his head on her shoulder.

”Hiss... Be a little more gentle.”

”Don’t look,” Su Li said, blocking Wu Sheng’s view.

When Wu Sheng saw that Su Li didn’t push his head away, his eyes lit up, and a cunning glint flashed through them.

”Okay,” he agreed obediently. Instead of watching the doctor treat his wound, he focused on Su Li’s side profile.

’Ooh, this is the first time I’ve been this close. It’s a little exciting.’

’Su Li has peach fuzz on her face... so fine, so cute.’

’Her ears are so small... and there’s a little mole on one...’

’And she has this nice smell, completely different from the stench of a man’s sweat. It’s faint... is it the scent of her hair?’

Just as Wu Sheng was studying her, he heard Su Li speak.

”There, they’ve cleaned out all the glass shards.”

Wu Sheng snapped back to reality, blinked, and nodded. ”Oh.”

”Now they have to disinfect it. It’ll sting, so just bear with it.”

”Mhm.” Wu Sheng rubbed his head against Su Li’s shoulder, playing pitiful.

”It’s alright, it’ll be over in a second.” Su Li sighed, remembering how he had smashed the car window with his hand.

”Are you an idiot? Smashing it with your hand...”

”Smashing a window is nothing. I wanted to kill that son of a bitch,” Wu Sheng retorted immediately.

”Alright, alright, stop shouting.”

Once the wound was treated and bandaged, Su Li told Wu Sheng to sit and rest for a bit while she went to pay the bill.

Su Li bustled about, paying the bill and picking up medication. Wu Sheng just sat to the side and watched her, a look of complete satisfaction on his face.

When Su Li returned, his expression changed in an instant, and he started to whine, ”Why does it hurt more now that it’s bandaged?”

”Getting it bandaged doesn’t mean it’s instantly healed. Of course it still hurts.” Su Li was exasperated. ”Come back in three days to get the dressing changed. There’s also oral medication, anti-inflammatories. I’ll carry them for you for now and give them to you later.”

”Mhm.” Wu Sheng nodded obediently, then held out both his hands. ”Help me up.”

Su Li blinked. ”You injured... your hand, not your foot.”

Wu Sheng’s expression froze for a second, then he casually touched his forehead. ”I probably lost too much blood. I’m a little dizzy.”

”You did lose a lot of blood. Are you very dizzy?” Hearing this, Su Li immediately went to support his arm.

”It’s manageable. Just a tiny bit dizzy.” Wu Sheng took the opportunity to wrap an arm around Su Li’s shoulders and lean on her.

”That’s good. You should eat more iron-rich foods for the next couple of days.” Su Li felt like Wu Sheng was exaggerating a bit, but after a glance at his hand, she didn’t say anything more.

”You should wash your hands first,” Wu Sheng said, looking at the bloodstains on the back of Su Li’s clothes and then at her hands.

Su Li looked at her own hands. ”Yeah.”

Finding a sink, Su Li washed her hands. Wu Sheng stood to the side, his eyes narrowing as he watched the new ring on her finger.

When Su Li finished, Wu Sheng silently held out his uninjured hand.

Su Li dutifully washed his hand for him.

”You have blood on your face, too, and your neck.” After Su Li had washed his hand, Wu Sheng pointed at her. ”I’ll wash it off for you.”

Earlier, when he had hugged Su Li, he had pressed his injured hand against the back of her head and neck, so it had gotten on her.

Su Li paused. ”I can get it myself. Just tell me where...”

Before she could finish, Wu Sheng’s wet hand landed on her neck.

The water wasn’t cold, but Su Li still flinched as the pads of his fingers slowly wiped across her skin.

”Hold on,” Wu Sheng told her not to move. ”The blood on your clothes has already dried. You can just change and wash them when you get back.”

Thankfully, the bloodstains had dried and weren’t as noticeable.

”Mhm,” Su Li answered in a low voice.

Wu Sheng was very close to her, so close it felt like she could hear his heartbeat.

This reminded Su Li of the hug from Wu Sheng earlier.

That hug... it was so heartbreaking, so stunning.

Su Li had always thought that while Wu Sheng’s feelings for her were genuine, they weren’t too deep. But today, that trembling embrace and those trembling words told her just how deep his feelings ran.
