Everyone in the Group is a Main Character, Except Me Who's the Villain

97: Wu Yuting: Did I misjudge him back then?Hearing Zhou Xiaoyan’s words, Chen Qian was slightly taken aback and looked in the direction Zhou Xiaoyan pointed.

She saw the revolving glass door turn, and a familiar figure walked in.

That build, those looks, those gold-rimmed glasses—who else could it be but Fang Ming?

”It really is him?” Chen Qian was stunned.

Didn’t Fang Ming say he wanted to rest today because he was on leave? Why would he come to Sihai Restaurant? And... alone?

Qin Xiao’s task flashed through her mind, and curious about Fang Ming’s appearance here, Chen Qian restrained her urge to go over and greet him immediately.

At the same time, Wu Yuting, who was standing at the door responsible for welcoming guests, also recognized Fang Ming.

The current Fang Ming was much more steady and restrained than in her memory, with a lot more presence, but she still couldn’t believe that Fang Ming would be the distinguished guest invited by President Han.

After a brief thought, she took a deep breath and approached him with a professional smile.

”Good evening, sir. Welcome to Sihai Restaurant. Do you have a reservation?”

Fang Ming turned his head upon hearing this, his gaze falling on Wu Yuting’s face for about half a second before he nodded slightly.

”Yes, the name is Fang. Heaven Character Number One Private Room. President Han invited me.”

Clearly, he didn’t recognize Wu Yuting.

Although his build and looks were no different from his original self—to the point where even he didn’t know if he had transmigrated bodily or soul-wise.

But this was, after all, a world merged with a novel. The one who had pursued Wu Yuting was the original host, not this transmigrator. Plus, after so long since graduation, she had learned to use makeup and wear high heels, making her appearance quite different from the Wu Yuting back at school.

So, it was normal not to recognize her.

However, his words were like a thunderbolt striking Wu Yuting right on the crown of her head!

Heaven Character Number One? President Han personally invited him?

It really was him? The distinguished guest Fang Ming that Han Kun spoke of was the same Fang Ming she knew?

The immense shock and disbelief caused the professional smile on Wu Yuting’s face to stiffen for a moment, but she was, after all, a professionally trained Greeting Supervisor. She forcibly suppressed the turmoil in her heart and bowed slightly.

”So it is Mr. Fang? President Han has already given instructions. Please follow me.”

She turned around and, with practiced, elegant steps, led Fang Ming toward the private elevator.

Her high heels clicked crisply on the polished marble floor. As the elevator doors slowly closed, only the two of them remained in the narrow space.

Wu Yuting subconsciously peeked at the expressionless Fang Ming beside her through the mirror-like elevator walls.

The more she looked, the more the waves of shock surged in her heart.

He really had changed, not just in his earth-shattering appearance, but also in a change of temperament that seemed to come from his very bones.

The old him was like a glass of plain water, easy to see through at a glance.

Now, he was like a deep pool—calm on the surface, with no telling what lay beneath.

That kind of composure and the lack of any awkwardness in a place like Sihai Restaurant was definitely not something an assistant with a monthly salary of twenty or thirty thousand could easily possess.

Could it be... what Qiao Xingyue said was true? He wasn’t just an assistant, but a confidant truly valued by Young Master Qin? Or maybe... he had even experienced other things?

Countless thoughts fought in Wu Yuting’s head, making her palms sweat slightly.

Seeing that the elevator was about to reach the top floor, she finally couldn’t help herself. She turned slightly, a smile even sweeter than before appearing on her face.

”Um... Mr. Fang, if I may ask, are you... a graduate of Sichuan University?”

Hearing this, Fang Ming gave her a curious look.

Since the other person could name his school, she must be an acquaintance who knew him, but he still couldn’t remember who she was.

”And you are...?”

Seeing that he didn’t recognize her immediately even after she mentioned their alma mater to remind him, Wu Yuting felt a strange tightness in her heart, unsure if it was disappointment or something else.

”I’m Wu Yuting!” Her voice reflexively rose a bit. ”We were in the same year. Don’t you remember me? Back then, you even...”

She stopped her voice just at the right moment, a blush flashing across her face, her eyes filled with mock reproach and expectation.

It was as if she were saying: ”You confessed to me three times back then. Surely you must remember now?”

Fang Ming looked at her carefully, his eyes narrowing slightly behind his lenses as if searching his memory.

A few seconds later, a look of realization appeared on his face, and he nodded slightly.

”Oh, it’s you? I remember now. Long time no see.”

Fang Ming’s reaction was very flat. There was no surprise of an unexpected reunion with an old classmate, no tension or embarrassment facing a former goddess, not even a ripple of emotion.

It was as if he had accidentally run into an inconsequential acquaintance on the street whose name he just happened to know.

This flatness was even more mortifying for Wu Yuting than direct indifference.

Her carefully adjusted smile was starting to falter, and her fingers unconsciously gripped the fabric on the side of her qipao.

”Yes... yes, long time no see. I really didn’t expect to run into you here. You... you’ve changed so much now, I almost didn’t recognize you.”

”People always change. Haven’t you changed a lot too?”

Fang Ming replied casually, his gaze already returning to the digital display above the elevator doors, seemingly uninterested in this chance encounter.

Thinking about it carefully, there was nothing wrong with that. Wu Yuting’s figure and looks were decent, but only decent.

Not to mention compared with Mu Qingxue and Shen Wanyin, even Chu Yao, who didn’t dress up much, was better than her. At most, she was on the same level as Chen Qian.

Besides, he still had a lot of information to process and had no time to play out some old classmate reunion scene with a girl who had rejected him three times.

Ding!

The crisp chime of the elevator reaching the top floor rescued Wu Yuting from her awkwardness.

The elevator doors slid open silently. Outside was a hallway with thick carpets and soft lighting. At the end, the heavy carved wooden door was the Heaven Character Number One Private Room.

”This way, please.” Wu Yuting quickly adjusted her state and led Fang Ming to the mahogany double doors carved with intricate patterns at the end of the hallway.

A burly, serious-looking bodyguard in a black short-sleeved shirt stood at the door. Seeing Wu Yuting bring someone, his gaze swept quickly over Fang Ming, then he nodded slightly and stepped aside to gently push open the door to the private room.

The moment the door opened, Han Kun’s hearty voice came from inside.

”Brother Fang! You’re finally here!” Han Kun’s tone carried obvious warmth.

Fang Ming gave Wu Yuting a polite nod, then without another look at her, he calmly walked through that door which symbolized status and position.

Wu Yuting stood in place. Only when the door to the private room was completely closed did she finally relax.

Thinking of Han Kun’s warmth just now, and then looking down at her qipao—which, though beautiful, was ultimately a uniform—the forced smile on her face completely vanished.

Heaven Character Number One Private Room? President Han personally accompanying him? A distinguished guest greeted with such warmth?

Fang Ming... what exactly has he been through these past two years?

Back then, did I... misjudge him?
