Myths Reawakened

As much as rooftops were spies’ go-to meeting places, churches were angels’. Derrida and his colleague had traveled alone to keep a low profile since their mission was to infiltrate and investigate. They wanted to avoid unnecessary attention.

Wayne chatted with Derrida as they walked. How absurd. Given the average looks of the reincarnated angels, they made heads turn wherever they went. It was impossible for them to keep a low profile.

In the short five hundred meters they had just walked, men and women had been turning around and eyeing him, who was beside Derrida. Their curious gazes were so heated that he felt shy. Moreover, Derrida stood out because of the all-white clothes he wore. He clearly wasn’t trying to be discreet.

Wayne would like to comment on it, but stopped himself to maintain Hesione’s image. While keeping up an amicable conversation with Derrida, he walked into a small chapel.

It was located in a residential area. Wayne went to the backyard with his two secretaries, spotting a woman praying with her eyes closed by the flowerbed, under a tree. Her pristine white robe fluttered softly in the wind, flawless and graceful.

Under her tall nose, her lips were thin and red. The lines of her face were soft but defined, and her facial features sculpted like a jade piece. With her blonde hair cascading down like a waterfall, she looked like she had walked right out of a painting.

The painting was sacred and breathtakingly beautiful, deterring anyone from disturbing it lest the intricate art scatter in the wind.

Wayne looked at the woman in surprise. Her ethereal aura was almost as captivating as his white moonlight, Anastasia. And she was beautiful, beautiful enough to rival his three luxury cars.

“Is this how you keep a low profile?” He couldn’t help but voice the comment he had wanted to make.

Derrida and the woman would draw most of the eyes on their own, and with Wayne accompanying them, they would make everyone turn to look at them. Keeping a low profile? How lowly did they think of Prussia’s SS?

What? Ottilia and Regina were mediocre, so they would average out their collective appeal?

Fine, then.

Hearing Wayne’s voice, the woman opened her clear blue eyes, nodding at him. “Nice to meet you. I’m Hestia.”

“Wayne.”

Wayne reached out to take her hand.

Behind him, Ottilia and Regina marveled at the woman’s beauty. They had thought that only mature ladies would be able to dwarf their looks, but even Hestia, who seemed only a few years older than they were, was a stunning perfection.

What was going on in the world? Why were there so many beautiful ladies?

Ottilia despaired. She felt like she had no hope for her future. Rather than competing with others, it was better to just slack off.

“Wayne, these two don’t seem like clergywomen from the church.”

Hestia spoke bluntly and coldly. Understanding her intention, Wayne explained, “These are my secretaries. They’ve been following me since they were young and are my spies in the Church of Nature. I always take them with me when I’m in Ostarrichi.”

“Where’s your clergywoman?” Hestia asked, irritated.

“In Londan. I suspect that a powerful demon is hiding in Londan. Just in case, I have her stay and guard the city,” Wayne told the truth. “What about yours?”

Aside from Derrida and Hestia, there were no other living beings in the church. That made Wayne curious. Based on His Horniness’s way of taking hostage of angels’ future children, Derrida should be accompanied by a clergywoman. As for Hestia... he wondered if His Horniness would assign a female or a male priest. If he hadn’t assigned anyone, Wayne would like to volunteer.

“Hestia and I aren’t accompanied by clergy...” Derrida explained.

The two reincarnated angels were lucky enough to be born near the Papal State. Hestia, especially, was raised by clergy parents, becoming a follower of the Holy Light at a young age. Later, the Pope naturally discovered them and had them move to the Papal State for further education.

“Hestia awakened early, so she turned down—”

“Derrida, you can’t say that now!” Hestia interrupted, frowning at Wayne and the secretaries following him. A reincarnated angel’s identity was critical information. She was willing to trust Wayne since the Pope had confirmed multiple times that he was a reincarnated angel, but she didn’t trust his two secretaries.

The two human girls were out of place here. She wanted Wayne to send them away.

“So you’ve awakened. You’re a real angel,” Wayne said enviously. “Things aren’t like that for me. I still haven’t awakened my memories, and I don’t know what my name in Heaven is. I just have this recurring dream occasionally, where a voice told me that on the day of my birth, all of Heaven was calling out my name.”

“...” x2

Hestia’s eyes twitched. She remembered a certain reincarnated angel who had been discovered some time ago. He was as shameless as Wayne. To her knowledge, the bastard named Kael hailed from Londan just like Wayne.

Damn Londaner, leaving a stain on the Papal State’s tradition!

Hestia trusted a reincarnated angel’s character who had awakened their memories, but at present... she felt little goodwill for Wayne.

Derrida covered his face. He could tell that the two didn’t get along. A few exchanges of words already left the air thick with tension.

“Wayne, Hestia has already awakened. You and I haven’t recovered our memories, so we should show her a little respect...”

Derida coughed into his fist, playing mediator. “And you, Hestia. I remember you praising Wayne for banishing demons many times, upholding justice and upholding Heaven’s glory, making him an excellent reincarnated angel. Why are you suddenly harsher once you meet him?”

“I never said that,” Hestia huffed.

So she’s a tsundere!

Wayne stroked his chin. To be more precise, she was a fake tsundere. It was said that tsunderes had lost their competitiveness, but that wasn’t true. Tsunderes were never outdated. The only ones eliminated were the female side characters who embodied only the tsun part and not the dere part, making them a cantankerous annoyance who made a fleeting appearance before losing to the loser sister.

Tsunderes were about the contrast. Without the softening part, an all-tsun character would only be disliked.

Veronica was a typical tsundere. Hestia... it remained to be seen. Wayne surely didn’t see her dere part. She had refused to communicate with regular people properly since awakening her memories as an angel. Even when she had anything nice to say, it would probably be condescending appreciation instead.

Good, you’re a worthy target for taming!

He was now pretending to be Śār Hesione’s reincarnation. He knew how high a status he would be perceived to hold in Heaven. No matter how prideful Hestia was, she could never outrank him. Her reaction would be spectacular when his ‘true’ identity was revealed.

He couldn’t wait!

“What are you laughing about?”

“I just remember something nice. My clergywoman is about to deliver our baby.”

“...” x2

Derrida closed his eyes. He had tried to ease their relationship, but Wayne kept pushing Hestia’s buttons. There was nothing he could do. He made up his mind to stay out of whatever conflict they got into.

“You’ve tainted your reincarnated form. You must know that once we return to Heaven, we’ll be taking our shell in the human world. If you have a child, you’ll let the Papal State—”

Annoyed, Hestia stopped herself from finishing the sentence. She shouldn’t say something that would undermine their unity, but she was certain that Wayne already knew.

So it’s true! Wayne nodded to himself. Mona had once said something similar to him before pinning Hesione down. He had been skeptical since the human form wasn’t in line with Heaven’s aesthetics, so there had to be a transformation process when passing through the Gate of Heaven. To his surprise, however, Mona wasn’t just being kinky; she was telling the truth.

Even if the reincarnated would be transformed, the transformation would be based on their reincarnated body. No wonder Hesione had lost her composure and spat out a litany of curses then.

“What’s done is done. There’s no point in saying that. As for me being a reincarnated angel, my secretaries know already. There’s nothing to hide from them.”

Wayne extended his arms and pulled his two secretaries into his embrace. As his vassals, they knew full well that he was riling up Hestia on purpose, so they played along.

Ottilia blushed bashfully, her cheeks reddening like an appealing apple that invited one to take a bite; Regina wasn’t as good at acting, so she simply nuzzled Wayne’s chest before shooting Hestia a glare.

Yes, they had slept together. They had corrupted the angel’s pure form. What was she going to do about it?

Hestia trembled with fury, her eyes glinting with golden light. Coming to a sudden halt, she calmed down, the light fading. “Both of them are pure virgins. If you want to fight me to confirm which of us should be in charge, just say it. You needn’t undermine your own reputation.”

She snorted. Although you speak nothing but lies, I’ll let it slide since you’re pure.

“...” x3

Ottilia and Regina fell silent. Having Hestia look at them with a derisive smile after exposing their lies was humiliating.

“Boss, it’s all your fault,” Ottilia grumbled telepathically. “We wouldn’t be this mortified if you’d done it.”

“Alright, I’ll do it when I have time.”

“Regina, too. She can’t be exposed, either.”

“Huh?” Regina said. “What does that have to do with me?”

“What? Are you not willing?”

“...”

Wayne ended the private chat, speechless. Meeting Hestia’s self-satisfied gaze, he huffed and accused, “You’re a little too prideful as an angel.”

Hestia blanched before saying furiously, “How could you utter such a malicious curse as an angel?!”

Huh, so the Seven Deadly Sins are an angel’s buttons. I learned something useful today. I’ll go after our dear Śār once I’m back home.

Wayne’s eyes lit up. “Hestia, you’re not only prideful, but also envious, wrathful, greedy, and lustful. You’ve fallen!”

“Nonsense!!”

“See, you’re so prone to wrath.”

“...”

“Just because you’ve awakened, and Derrida and I have not, you consider yourself superior. That is pride. You keep losing your temper at me. That is wrath. You falsely accuse me of wanting power. That shows your greed for power. As for lust...”

With every word he said, Hestia became paler. She murmured under her breath, pleading for mercy for her sins.

When Wayne didn’t continue, Derrida asked curiously, “What about lust? Why didn’t you continue? Please do!”

You look like a gentleman, but you’re a black-hearted one.

Wayne chuckled. “I can’t help but feel aroused when I see her busty figure and long legs. Why does she look so lewd? She’s clearly a walking embodiment of Lust.”

“Vulgar!” Hestia snarled.

“See, you lost your temper again. How wrathful!”

“...”

Hestia took a deep breath, praying to Heavenly Father for forgiveness with her eyes closed.
