Myths Reawakened

Patting Mona’s behind, Wayne asked, “When will the delegation arrive in Londan? Are they going through official channels or sneaking in? Who’s their leader?”

“Apparently, they’re coming in two teams. The official side is going through proper channels. The Papal State is currently discussing the specific timing of the diplomatic mission with Windsor.”

“Privately, a few delegates will arrive in Londan ahead of time. There aren’t many of them, but they are the core members and will determine when the delegation will officially arrive in Londan, as well as what will be discussed then.”

The larger conference with more participants would only be going through the motions, while the real decisions would be made through the smaller meeting.

Mona continued, “Boss, you’ve met the leader of the delegation before at the Holy Mother Cathedral in Luzerbourg. It’s Archibald, the Pope’s representative. He must have come to Londan under the Pope’s instructions.”

“Archibald...” Wayne nodded, remembering the extremely handsome man. In terms of looks, he was the male version of Senna and Filomina, the ceiling of male attractiveness. Wayne only knew another heartthrob who could compare to him—Kael, the tank operator with a peculiar taste.

“Boss, Archibald is coming on behalf of the Pope. He will surely discuss matters of the faith with you.” Mona looked at his face from a close distance, her eyes brimming with devotion and a deep adoration.

“Let me think...”

***

Londan Airport, October twelfth.

A blond, blue-eyed man in a suit disembarked from the plane. His stunning looks made several married women’s hearts flutter, and because this was Londan, even their husbands couldn’t help but take extra glances.

Archibald wasn’t angry about the intrusive stares. He responded with an elegant, calm smile, randomly expressing goodwill to one person from each couple while ignoring the other. Wherever he passed, marital feuds intensified.

Beside him was a petite clergywoman, Titus.

Archibald was tall and slender, making Titus, standing at one hundred and sixty centimeters tall, appear petite in comparison. Carrying two large suitcases, the girl looked particularly adorable because of their height difference.

Soon, several men in black approached. After a brief introduction, they respectfully invited Archibald and Titus to board a black luxury car.

It wasn’t heading towards Saint Paul’s Cathedral. Windsor’s current policies were unfavorable to the Church of Heavenly Father. To show respect to the new royal family, the Pope’s envoy chose to keep a low profile, which came with the advantage of making nighttime activities more convenient.

Half an hour later, the car stopped at a high-end hotel. In a suite on the sixth floor, Archibald met the target of this mission.

“Mr. Wayne, we meet again.”

Archibald’s smile was warm and friendly like a spring breeze. He was a young man who naturally radiated warmth. His exceptional looks and high station despite his young age made Wayne think of those hellish jokes about the church.

Could it be that while His Horniness seemed firmly in the clergywomen camp, he was actually fine with boys, too?

“Mr. Archibald, I’m glad to see you in Londan.”

The two men shook hands. Wayne glanced at Titus, whose clear, beautiful eyes had lost some of the innocence that had been there in their first meeting. He broke into a suggestive smile.

Titus lowered her head, her ears turning red.

Archibald smiled in a similar way, but it had little to no effect on Mona. She neither blushed nor lowered her head, proudly admitting her fall—she didn’t consider it falling at all. What did serving an angel have to do with falling? It was faith, and countless clergywomen would get on their knees for the opportunity and fail to get a taste.

“Sister Mona, you’ve become more beautiful.” Archibald patted Titus on the backside. Titus came up and placed the two large suitcases on the desk, opening them to reveal that they were filled to the brim with the Pope’s goodwill.

Wayne scanned the gifts without inspecting them. Once he patted Mona on the backside, she collected the two suitcases.

“Mr. Wayne, I heard that—”

“You’re being too formal. Just call me Wayne, and I’ll call you Archibald. It’s not our first meeting. No need for the formalities,” Wayne said cheerfully.

Archibald smiled. “Wayne, I heard that the most authentic Francan cuisine can be found in Londan, Windsor. May I experience it tonight?”

“Certainly. I’ll reserve a place for a candlelit dinner between you and Sister Titus. I’m being watched by too many eyes and can’t accompany you. I hope you’ll understand.” Wayne expressed his sincere apology. The gifts were so generous that he felt somewhat guilty.

“No problem. You have a different status now. When should I begin addressing you as Your Highness?”

“Hahaha—” x2

Archibald was eloquent and managed to establish a rapport quickly. After some more pleasantries, he said directly, “Wayne, I won’t be staying in Londan for long. If the Pope gets a satisfactory response today, I’ll have time to tour the city the next few days.”

“About faith?”

“Partly. What’s your view on the Church of Heavenly Father’s predicament in Windsor?”

“The suppression has been too harsh. It’s time to ease up a little.”

Wayne, as a reincarnated angel on the surface, had to throw the Church of Heavenly Father a bone. Besides, Windsor really should undergo an upgrade now. Nature, Moonlight, and Darkness had all expended their influence, and Death had the Death Knight holding fort. There was nothing wrong with the Church of Heavenly Father receiving a buff. It should be allowed to grow, if only to maintain balance.

There was also the Church of Sun. The early buyers enjoyed early benefits, the late buyers enjoyed a discount, and the non-buyers enjoyed everything for free. The Church of Sun won without doing anything.

“The Pope will be glad to hear that.” Archibald didn’t dwell on the topic further. There was something else he cared about more. With a grave expression, he said, “Mr. Wayne, I’ll be honest with you. The Pope suspects that there’s another reincarnated angel in Londan.”

You finally noticed!

Wayne raised an eyebrow. “Any leads? Can you find them?”

“I’m not sure. You’ve been in Londan without discovering them. It’ll be even more difficult for us in the distant Papal State...”

Archibald shook his head. “The Pope hopes that you can find this amnesiac angel. The mysteries surrounding this coming war are too great. The Pope has had several nightmares, and each time, the Gates of Hell opened in the mortal realm. We don’t have much time left.”

As soon as the gates were mentioned, Mona’s expression tightened, and her eyes glinted with disgust. Wayne’s expression also shifted.

Regardless of how many skeletons the Church of Heavenly Father had in its closet and whether angels truly represented justice, Hell was definitely evil. He said with a frown, “Archibald, as you said, I’ve been in Londan for so long without detecting the real reincarnated angel. I’m afraid I can’t complete the task.”

“A Sacred Tome of Golden Law is among the gifts. You could use it.” Archibald didn’t have many other options.

“Isn’t that too dangerous? What if someone dies?”

Wayne frowned. The Golden Law of Angels in the sacred tomes was as dangerous as a knight’s divine artifact. Ordinary people couldn’t withstand the trial and would die meaninglessly.

Archibald shook his head. “To stop a disaster that could engulf the entire world, the Pope is willing to sacrifice a few innocents. Moreover, the reincarnated angel has been in the mortal realm for quite some time now and should be showing angelic characteristics. If you observe carefully, the tragedy you imagine won’t happen.”

“Also, the Pope asked me to make a request in his stead: Palis has been turbulent lately. The scent of demons is growing stronger. In the Pope’s dreams, Palis was where the gates of Hell opened most frequently.”

“A number of reincarnated angels are already preparing to go to Palis to investigate. Would you consider joining them?”

I’d like to, but the Headless Knight is still waiting for me!

Wayne shook his head regretfully. “I cannot leave Londan yet. Once I find the reincarnated angel, perhaps they could head to Palis to assist with the investigation.”

After some consideration, Wayne offered, “A while ago, demon familiars invaded Londan. They came from Palis, and the Death Knight was involved...”

“The three familiars served the Blood Tyrant, Night Tyrant, and the Abyssal Spider Queen...”

“More than one demon is hiding in Palis. Please tell the Pope not to act rashly without the certainty of winning.”

“...”

The two discussed the situation in Palis. Archibald obtained a substantial amount of valuable information, making the trip worthwhile. Wayne was also satisfied. If the reincarnated angels could rout the demons at the underground catacombs, he wouldn’t have to face the Headless Knight in person.

“The Pope has one more question...” Archibald looked at Wayne with puzzlement. “Too many churches support the Lando family, with the goddesses’ chosen knights getting quite involved. How did it happen?”

Why would a reincarnated angel like you get so cozy with chosen knights rather than other angels?

Are you playing cards?

“Tell the Pope that I have my plans,” Wayne said cryptically, shaking his head. “It concerns the faiths across the entire Chosen Land, so I can’t speak plainly right now.”

“That makes it difficult for me to report to the Pope, Wayne,” Archibald said with a wry smile. “I’m only a messenger. Please don’t make things difficult for me.”

“Just tell him that I’m planning to infiltrate the Life Alliance and have had some success,” Wayne said simply. “I might actually break the alliance from the inside.”

“Um, personally, I’ll suggest that you focus on the demons and Hell. The Life Alliance and the Churches of Death and Darkness are nothing but remnants from a past era. They aren’t actually our enemies.”

“Who knows? What if they join forces with the demon lords?”

“Alright. If you insist, I’ll relay your response to the Pope.”

They chatted in the private room for a long time. After enjoying afternoon tea, Wayne left with Mona. Archibald stood by the window, looking at the nearby River Thames with golden light surging in his eyes.

“Blood of Heaven...”

“Draconic Realm!”

“Have you obtained those powers, Wayne?”

Archibald murmured to himself, a look of envy flashing through his eyes. He had wanted those things for a long time, but unfortunately arrived a step too late. Wayne had already completed his rebellion. He must have taken the Blood of Heaven and Draconic Realm, completing an angel’s total transformation.

Of course, there was a chance that he hadn’t. After all, he didn’t know all the secrets. The true hidden treasure might still be free to claim.

“Titus, I’m going out tonight. You’ll disguise yourself as me and go to the theater to chat up girls, but you’re not allowed to bring anyone back, and absolutely no kissing. Understand?”
