Myths Reawakened

Young Lady’s mansion, Lando Estate.

Wayne stood beside the window, watching a dark shadow fly into the grove. He nodded in satisfaction. As expected of the veteran human cannonball, Auston, when he flew, he always flew high and far. Wayne wouldn’t have been able to put on the same performance.

Veronica sat on the sofa, hugging her knees as she watched the scumbag warily, worried that a spanking session could be coming up. But it didn’t happen.

Wayne plopped down beside her and sighed. “Your performance today really disappointed me. I even gave you my first kiss, yet you suspected me of fooling around with someone else. Those few times you stepped on me hurt, and it still does.”

His words made Veronica’s mood plummet. She once again recognized her mistake and muttered quietly, “It’s all Vera’s fault.”

Good lord, Master’s blaming Auston, and you’re blaming Vera. Is this also part of the dragon blood you inherited?

“What does that have to do with Vera? When you do something wrong, acknowledge it. When you deserve a beating, take it standing. Vera and I haven’t done anything. Don’t keep looking for excuses.” With the crystal ball serving as proof, Wayne spoke with such confidence that he seemed like a socialist declaring his belief with a red scarf around his neck.

“But she likes you...” Veronica lowered her head. “She’s had feelings for you from the very beginning, deliberately getting close to you and letting you take advantage of her. She never stops making things difficult for me.”

By that logic, she actually was the first to make claims, and you’re the one who stole your best friend’s crush. And you succeeded!

Wayne kept his comment to himself, pulling Veronica into his embrace. He gave her a deep, long kiss. “Do you still remember who Vera is?”

“I remember.”

“Then let’s go again.”

After five kisses, Veronica was in such a daze that she forgot who Vera was, and she wanted Wayne to quickly forget, too.

“By the way, we’ve kissed, but the crystal ball didn’t react. Why?” Veronica lay in Wayne’s arms. The question had been bothering her.

If the crystal ball couldn’t serve as proof, then Vera had to have kissed Wayne. The wench wearing glasses, too. Thinking of her punchable face made Veronica’s fist itch.

No, impossible. Those two can’t have gotten a kiss.

Hearing Veronica’s complaints, Wayne kept laughing. If she had added Kristen to the list, he wouldn’t have laughed so hard.

With Veronica as the witness, he pressed his fingers together and swore to the goddess that he hadn’t kissed them, not even once. Otherwise, let him be struck by lightning.

Satisfied, Veronica happily held him and said, “You haven’t done it, but you may do it in the future. You...”

“Again? Do you have so little trust in me?”

“...”

Veronica turned away. She couldn’t help it. The scumbag was too popular, which made her feel insecure.

“By the way, you haven’t said why the crystal ball didn’t react.”

“Isn’t it simple?” Wayne put his hands on her shoulders and pressed a light kiss on her forehead. He said in a blissful tone, “The goddess believes our love to be pure. The sacred light coming from the crystal ball is the proof.”

Veronica melted. She pushed the scumbag down on the sofa and buried her face in his chest, nuzzling him. He didn’t want Wayne to see her unseemly smile.

That’s it? Nothing more?

Wayne lamented the magical girl’s innocence. He had to be the one to push their progress when it came to it. Picking her up in a bridal carry, he took her to the bathroom.

“Bastard, what are you doing? Put me down.” Veronica kicked her legs. Whatever she was imagining, it made her ears turn red.

Wayne ignored her protest and kicked the bathroom door closed.

Grove.

“Huh, you’re still here?”

Wayne came to the grove refreshed and covered in fragrance. He looked down at Auston, raising an eyebrow. “Why didn’t I see Megan today? She should be bringing you bandages by this point.”

(눈言눈)

Good question. He also wanted to know why Silvia beat him up out of the blue.

Her reward today was so hardcore that he almost couldn’t take it, veering into the realm of punishment.

“Silvia said that I deserved this punch, that it was for you...” Auston got to his feet and dusted himself, his slicked-back hair disheveled. He looked like a mess. “What nonsense did you say this time?”

Nonsense? It’s proof of my close relationship with my mother!

“I was falsely accused of having a girlfriend today. In the heat of the moment, Master beat you up. It’s as simple as that.”

...I don’t get it.

Auston was pretty sure that Wayne actually had many girlfriends, even though he didn’t know what had happened. He established a soundproofing barrier with a wave and told Wayne to explain.

“I’ll stop messing with you. Here’s what happened...”

Wayne recounted the matter from start to finish, frowning. “That woman is up to no good. Keeping her around won’t end well. You should take care of her sooner rather than later.”

“Why don’t you do it?” Auston scoffed. “You covet Flora’s student and find the priestess troublesome, so you want me to kill her. What a clever excuse, and what a knight you are.”

“Say what you will. Flora intends to harm Master, and she’s already acted on it.

“I know. She’s useful to keep around, or she’d be dead already.”

Wayne raised an eyebrow. Useful in what way? Care to elaborate?

“The Church of Nature—no, none of the churches are any good. Silvia shouldn’t get caught up in one. If Flora can wake Silvia up, I’ll even thank her!” Auston’s eyes glinted. He had clearly formulated a series of plans already.

“You want Master to lose her job and stay at home as a full-time housewife?”

Auston didn’t respond. He didn’t want to restrict his wife’s freedom. As long as it wasn’t any of the churches, his wife could go wherever she wanted. If she wanted to do business, he was willing to exhaust the family fortune for her—he would even sell the Lando Estate without regret.

“You should know that Master has such a strong drive because she wants to outdo you. She’s way too competitive.” Wayne wasn’t optimistic about Auston’s dragon-taming plan.

Veronica, for example, always wanted to be better than Wayne. He guessed that Silvia shared the same compulsion; her partner was so outstanding that she didn’t want to lose.

Auston had persisted for twenty years without taming the dragon, and he was unlikely to succeed in the future. Perhaps Silvia would end up leaving home again.

“What about you? Any brilliant ideas?” Auston mocked. Wayne had made a worse mess than he had.

“We’re different. Someone with the original bloodline isn’t what a regular guy like you—hey, where are you going? I’m not done talking! Regular guy, what do you plan to do with Flora?”

“Leave her to me,” Auston said. “I look forward to what she can do and am willing to give her a larger stage to demonstrate herself. You only need to defeat her student.”

Auston walked away without looking back. “After sending off the auditing team of the Church of Nature, immediately look into the demons from hell. There’s still a familiar hiding in Londan. She’s been lurking for too long.”

“As the Darkness Knight?”

“Death and nothing else!”

That night, Wayne returned to the Lando Estate, originally planning to stay overnight in Veronica’s bedroom. However, her punch was so heavy that he accidentally fell into the grove.

She was too shy. Every time they progressed by twenty percent, she pushed it back to ground zero, leaving him with no solution.

“Serves you right for missing out on the hot stuff...”

Wayne muttered. Rather than staying the night and risking things souring, he decided to visit High Reverend Filomina late and give her a surprise.

“Master, Miss Mona is waiting for you in the living room.”

Veryl took Wayne’s jacket from him and said thoughtfully, “Miss Vera didn’t visit today, and Miss Kristen is in the living room. She heard that you just returned from Winster and brought you a gift.”

“How did Kristen know?”

“I asked. Miss Vera told her.”

“Alright. Good work, Veryl.”

Wayne took a deep breath and put on a tired expression before walking into the living room.

He could more or less guess why Vera hadn’t come over tonight. The generous girl had given too much of herself away, crashing completely in the end and almost fainting from overheating. She was too embarrassed to show up.

On the other hand, it was normal for Kristen to be here. Wayne’s residence had practically become her home. The master’s permission was the only thing stopping her from moving her wardrobe into the master bedroom.

As for Mona... She was probably here for work!

In the living room, Kristen and Mona were chatting. Judging by Senior Kristen’s tone and posture, she clearly considered herself the mistress of the household.

She wasn’t wrong. Both Wayne and Veryl considered her that, too. The problem was that Kristen mistakenly believed herself to be the only mistress of the family.

Mona kept her eyes lowered and her expression meek, like a maid being lectured, making it difficult for Wayne to watch. She didn’t have to hold herself like she was inferior. She could stand up for herself and pursue her happiness. She was no less than any of the three other girls.

Mona knew almost all of Wayne’s secrets. Wayne compared himself to Auston, which would make Mona his Megan. She was sensible and obedient, putting herself far below everyone else. That was why, right now, she didn’t even dare to talk back when Kristen was giving her a hard time.

How pitiful!

Thunk!

Wayne knocked Kristen on the head, “Don’t bully Mona. She has a good temper, but I’ll get angry next time. Bully Vera instead. She’s the real menace.”

Kristen blushed as she slipped away with her black tea... then peeked around the corner.

“Come with me. You must have something important to discuss with me if you’re visiting this late at night. We’ll move to the study.” Wayne led Mona to his private study on the second floor.

As soon as the door closed, Mona set up a soundproofing barrier and held onto Wayne, kissing him without restraint.

It was clearly out of hurt.

“Alright, alright. Don’t be mad. I’ll take you on a date another day. However Kristen’s boyfriend has bullied you, bully him in the same way.”

Wayne consoled her, patting her on the back. Then he said seriously, “Actually, you don’t have to worry about me. Just voice whatever thoughts you have. Fair competition is normal. I don’t see you as my servant.”

Mona narrowed her eyes, the feeling of hurt evaporating immediately. Besides, she didn’t care about being Wayne’s girlfriend; there were already too many, so the label mattered little. On the other hand, he only had one servant and secretary. She could do the math and figured out which was better.

After another round of snuggling, Wayne asked curiously, “So, what is it? Couldn’t you have sent me a message telepathically?”

“Boss, someone sent a written request today, asking for a meeting with you.”

“Who?”

“Princess Elizabeth’s knight.”

“Come again?!”
