I Am Your Natural Enemy

No need for you to keep holding on. Next time that thing shows up, bless me with some Yang Energy.

I’ll handle that big guy. It’s about time you see for yourself,

why, after the spiritual awakening, it was mostly the old-timers who noticed first and took the first steps.”

As they were talking, Huang Zhiji skirted around the place where the Night Vigil Deity had vanished and hurried over.

”Minister Cai, Brother Wen.”

Huang Zhiji glanced at the mess all over, thought about what he’d seen from afar earlier, and didn’t bother asking if this was part of the test.

He didn’t know the Night Vigil Deity, but anyone could see—something big had gone down.

Wen Yan greeted Huang Zhiji and remembered that plenty of people were still being tested here.

”Is the trial going to continue?”

”Why not? It was set from the start. Right now it’s real combat—this is the best way to test everyone’s abilities.”

Cai Qidong didn’t hesitate at all, just laid it out.

Time went by. Huang Zhiji sidled up to Wen Yan to ask what generally happened, and Wen Yan gave him the gist.

Huang Zhiji looked glum, checked his bag—he was running low on Yellow Talismans.

”Shouldn’t have gotten cocky, should’ve brought more. What I’ve got left isn’t enough to set up a Great Talisman Array.”

Time passed, and Wen Yan and the others circled around the vanished Night Vigil Deity spot and returned to camp.

The demon corpses once tossed on the ground had disappeared. Judging by the thick finger marks left, they must’ve been eaten by that Night Vigil Deity.

But Wen Yan hadn’t noticed any signs the Night Vigil Deity was poisoned. It was just too damn big, probably insane Poison Resistance—this amount of poison couldn’t touch it.

As more time passed, you could vaguely spot other people around. Looked like everybody had found what they thought was the mission item and were getting ready to leave.

Huang Zhiji went to brief them on what had just happened here, and told them that the giant was about to show up again.

As soon as half an hour was up, the Yang Energy radiating from Wen Yan started quickly fading.

And in the distance, on the ground, the Night Vigil Deity—curled up and snoring—once again reappeared.

Wen Yan looked at Cai Qidong and finally asked,

”Minister Cai, should we wait for my senior brother to come back?”

”No use. Your senior’s power is already way beyond human, but when it comes to these big guys, he’s not much help. Let me handle this one.”

Wen Yan eyed Cai Qidong’s rather ordinary frame, feeling like there was something deeply unreliable about this whole situation.

Still, he gave in and took the Explosive Great Sun blessing he meant for himself and passed it to Cai Qidong instead.

”You’ve been boosted—go for it.”

Massive Yang Energy surged into Cai Qidong, but just as it exploded out, it pulled back, gradually drawing into Cai Qidong’s body.

Cai Qidong felt a jolt of energy, sucked in a breath.

Damn! This is strong!

He looked at Wen Yan—according to the secret records about Scorching Sun, never did it say that the blessing could be this strong when given to someone else. This was on an entirely different level—way beyond the legends.

Wen Yan’s own Yang Energy was already way stronger than martial artists of the same level. With this blessing, it was at least a hundred times his own.

As the Night Vigil Deity awakened again, Cai Qidong patted Wen Yan on the shoulder, his clothes starting to rip. With one move, he shot forward like a tiger out of a cage, charging straight at the Night Vigil Deity.

The Night Vigil Deity got up with a roar, gathering a giant moon-lit sphere in its mouth and suddenly launching it straight at Cai Qidong.

Cai Qidong didn’t dodge. He rounded his arms, and as the sphere hit, his shirt exploded off him.

His skinny frame started to swell like it was being pumped up—every muscle sharply carved and bulging.

With his arms forming a circle, he kept stepping back, the two-meter-wide light sphere shrinking in his grasp. Twisting his body, he spun and dispersed it completely.

Originally a middle-aged man, Cai Qidong’s appearance was shifting back to his younger days.

He gradually transformed into a hard-jawed, thick-browed, big-eyed muscle-man—like a sculpture, fierce as hell, even burlier than Qin Kun in full burst mode.

Wen Yan stared from afar, eyes practically popping out.

No way—this definitely wasn’t the effect of his blessing!

Off in the distance, Huang Zhiji was so stunned his Compass dropped to the ground—his mind totally blank.

”Wh—What the hell, Minister Cai is even wilder than the stories!”

Before coming, his master told him that Minister Cai from Nanwu County was once top among his peers, just that he hadn’t shown off in ages and had no recent feats.

Cai Qidong dissolved that light sphere against his chest. The Night Vigil Deity went berserk, barreling toward him.

As that huge foot smashed down, Cai Qidong’s muscles knotted. He caught the giant foot—larger than himself—veins bulging, and with a roar, the ten-meter-tall Night Vigil Deity was tripped forward, crashing down.

Before the thing even completely hit the ground, Cai Qidong was already on top of it, stepping onto the Night Vigil Deity’s body and charging all the way to its upper half.
