Daddy Always Gets Jealous

”I’m still busy, hanging up.”

Huo Jinnan ended the call and looked at Che Huan.

Che Huan looked at Huo Jinnan, ”Is the little guy feeling any better?”

Huo Jinnan grunted in acknowledgment and sat down beside Che Huan, glancing at her phone on the bed. He thought of the one he had given her, ”Where’s that phone?”

When she thought of that phone, Che Huan bit her lip. She had tried to throw it away several times but never managed to do so completely, and in the end, she picked it back up.

Huo Jinnan scanned her, ”Did you throw it away?”

Che Huan shook her head, ”No.”

Huo Jinnan lit a cigarette and scanned the room at her luggage, ”Use that one, so I can know everything as soon as possible.”

Che Huan pushed her bangs aside and hummed in acknowledgment, looking at Huo Jinnan. She knew there was a catch with that phone.

She sneaked a glance at Huo Jinnan, walked over to her suitcase, found the phone inside, and put the original SIM card back in.

Huo Jinnan watched with satisfaction, ”I’m leaving tomorrow morning. Lawyer Du will stay in the captain’s room. If there’s any problem, you can find him.”

Che Huan looked at Huo Jinnan; these past few days, as long as Huo Jinnan was around, the captain was nowhere to be seen. She didn’t know what he did to the captain behind the scenes; she avoided him even more than she avoided the little guy.

Huo Jinnan took hold of Che Huan’s wrist and pulled her closer, ”Aren’t you going to ask when I’ll be back in Li City?”

Che Huan asked softly, ”When will you come back?”

”I should finish things up soon.” He looked at Che Huan, not mentioning the Che family and the car accident. After returning, he still had to investigate the Che family’s matters.

Che Huan glanced at Huo Jinnan, ”Is there anything you need to pack? I can pack for you.”

Huo Jinnan’s fingertips gently stroked her wrist bone, ”Pack your spirits, wait for me to come back, and we’ll go to Hong Kong together.”

”...”

Che Huan looked at Huo Jinnan, suddenly feeling that they were not on the same wavelength!

What she was talking about and what he was talking about were completely different matters! Everything seemed just so disconnected!

However, a different warmth and sweetness seemed to sweep through her heart!

The next day when she woke up, she opened her eyes to find the space next to her empty, and her heart suddenly felt like it was missing a piece.

She stared at the space beside her for a while before she came back to her senses, only to realize that the captain was curled up there, and she hadn’t even noticed!

Had he already left?

She picked up the phone next to her and saw it was only seven o’clock. Why so early?

Che Huan turned over and looked at the captain, ”Good morning.”

The captain shook his fur, yawned, and then closed his eyes again.

Che Huan smiled at the captain, turned around, and saw a sticky note on the table next to her.

”Ordered breakfast for eight o’clock. It will be delivered to your room.”

She picked it up and touched the relatively harsh handwriting with the tip of her finger, feeling an indescribable sensation.

Truly, handwriting reflects the person; just like him—aristocratic and cool.

When the time came, after having breakfast, she and Wen Nuan took the captain to the hospital again.

Wen Ru’s condition wasn’t very good, lying on the bed, his mood seemed quite poor.

When he saw Wen Nuan and Che Huan arrive, he didn’t speak, as if he hadn’t seen them, yet he didn’t urge Che Huan to leave either.

Che Huan sat down quietly with the captain, looking towards Wen Hua and Bi Fu at her side, ”Uncle, Auntie, you’ve been working hard these past few days. Go back and rest. I’ll watch over him here.”

Wen Hua looked toward Wen Ru with some concern, ”Xiaoru.”

Wen Ru didn’t say anything, just lay there quietly on the bed.

Bi Fu and Wen Hua exchanged glances. Xiaoru had been like this for several days now, besides eating, not saying a word, as quiet as a wooden doll.
