”...But I still want to go down and take a look,” said Chen Fei.

”Hmm?” The Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace was startled and said in surprise, ”Are you sure? Or did I hear you wrong?”

What could Chen Fei say now? Of course, he couldn’t say anything. He could only smile bitterly with helplessness in his heart and shake his head, ”I’m just a bit curious about what exactly happened in the Yin River. This King of Ghost Horses is so powerful, yet it was forced to leave its longtime home...”

”Since you know this... I have to say, you kid really are fearless,” said the Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace, pursing his lips.

”Fortune favors the bold, starves the timid. Haven’t we always lived like this?” Chen Fei said with a smile, then turned and walked toward the Yin River, adding, ”Otherwise, you two should head back first. If nothing happens to me, I’ll just follow the path we came and return.”

”I’ll go down with you to take a look,” said the Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace, surprising Chen Fei.

”After all, this is a matter for our division, and I’m also curious about the strange events of the Yin River. Like you said, fortune favors the bold, starves the timid... perhaps I’ll find something worthwhile myself.”

The Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace squinted slightly as he spoke. Meanwhile, the Lion Ghost King shook his head and said, ”If you’re going down, I’ll pass, I’ll head back first.”

”Thank you, Ghost King, for escorting us here. Thank you,” said Chen Fei with a smile, raising his hand. The Lion Ghost King waved his hand and turned to leave.

As a member of the Ghost Clan, he simply couldn’t understand the ’fortune favors the bold, starves the timid’ mentality of Chen Fei and the Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace. Because he simply didn’t need those things.

Soon, the Lion Ghost King left. Chen Fei and the Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace also dived into the Yin River.

Inside the Yin River, it was pitch black, with layers of faint pressure enveloping it, making the heart feel as though it was being gripped by something, suffocating! Very uncomfortable.

”There is indeed something strange about this Yin River,” Chen Fei frowned, feeling the pressure. Logically speaking, these feelings shouldn’t exist in the Yin River, but now they did.

”Look there! So many Night Ghost Fish,” suddenly said the Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace, pointing at the riverbed in surprise. In the dim light deep at the riverbed, within a coral reef resembling a trench, were countless finger-sized fish fry, shivering and huddling together as if there was something terrifying around them that they were very afraid of.

”There’s indeed a problem,” Chen Fei couldn’t help but frown at this scene. Muttering to himself, he began to swim to other areas.

Along the way, they saw many unique creatures of Ghost City at the bottom of the Yin River, as well as very formidable underwater ghost beasts, but they all shared one common trait: they were all in a state of fear and unease, either huddled together or hiding in their nests, not daring to come out... as if there was something terrifying in the riverbed that they feared.

Soon, Chen Fei seemed to have discovered the source of all of this! At the very center of the riverbed’s coral reef, there was a plant resembling a glossy, black lotus flower.

This lotus was slightly larger than ordinary lotuses, with several leaves of unknown number, extremely dark in color, the complete opposite of the snow-white imagery of a traditional snow lotus.

”What is that?” The Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace exclaimed, staring at it with slightly parted lips, his heart inexplicably starting to race, his breathing labored.

”I don’t know... let’s go take a look,” Chen Fei frowned, not knowing what the lotus was, so he swam over.

Up close, the thing indeed appeared refined. Rows of black gold-colored petals blossomed, emitting mist-like streams of air, alternately swirling like an illusion. Inside were small lotus pods, different from the usual green ones, these looked extremely eerie. Just staring at them for a little longer made Chen Fei’s eyes ache, making it impossible to look away.

”What on earth is this... ugh, my eyes...” At this time, the surprised voice of the Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace came from beside him, only to be replaced by a faint gasp. Chen Fei looked over and was immediately stunned; he saw that the elder’s eyes were bleeding!

”How powerful this thing is.” The Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace was a Mystic Heaven Position figure, yet just by looking at the black lotus a few more times, his eyes began to bleed. What treasure could possess such ability?

Scanning the mysterious black lotus again, Chen Fei’s eyes narrowed, ”Senior, I think we’ve found the problem area. The source of the Yin River’s disturbances should be this unknown black lotus.”

”What should we do then?” The Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace wiped the blood from the corners of his eyes and asked.

”I don’t know either...” Chen Fei murmured, pausing for a moment before continuing, ”Perhaps we should wait for it to mature first.”

The Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace opened his mouth, found no better solution, and nodded, ”Very well... it seems like the lotus is about to mature too.”

And so they began to wait there, observing as the mysterious lotus matured.

In this way, time passed quickly.

A month later, the lotus leaves and petals on the black lotus began to wither, and the lotus pod inside was gradually growing larger, with the seeds inside appearing more and more plump. At this point, Chen Fei finally got a clear look at the mysterious black lotus, and the seeds inside were surprisingly a crystal-like black gold color!

They looked transparent and pure, and a strange fragrance emanated from them, making one feel both immensely refreshed and extremely suffocated, as if someone’s hand was gripping their heart! It was two completely opposite sensations.

Upon seeing the transparent, pure, crystal-like black gold color, Chen Fei finally seemed to recall something, staring intently at the seed, and gradually his mouth opened wide, his eyes filled with a look of disbelief and astonishment.

”Could this thing really be...” he muttered in shock when suddenly he heard a strange beast’s roar. A bat with a body of bright green, wide mouth, fangs, extremely ferocious, emerged covered in terrifying ghostly light, unknowingly drilling down to the bottom of the Yin River, its eyes fixated on the seed glowing with excitement!

Clearly, this terrifying creature was undoubtedly attracted by the black gold lotus seed within the mysterious lotus.

”Damn it! Where did this ghost beast come from? A flying creature can actually come down to the bottom of the sea?” Seeing this, the Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace became vexed. Originally it was just him and Chen Fei, privately dividing the seed between themselves. That seed was obviously something good, a naturally nurtured treasure.

But now unexpectedly, an uninvited terrifying ghost beast showed up, making the situation difficult to gauge. Judging by its aura alone, even though this green bat monster bird ghost beast might not be as fearsome as the King of Ghost Horses they had encountered before, it shouldn’t be far off.

In other words, this green bat monster bird ghost beast at least possessed a strength comparable to the Mystic Heaven Position, and perhaps together with Chen Fei, they might stand a chance to seize it, or they might not...

Just as the Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace was feeling frustrated, Chen Fei suddenly spoke up and turned away: ”Elder, let’s go!”

”Go? Why?” The Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace was stunned. Why leave? The green bat monster bird ghost beast might be formidable, but they weren’t weaklings either, and they weren’t without a fighting chance.

”No reason, if you want to stay alive, then follow me.” Chen Fei didn’t look back, leaving directly. Hearing this, the Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace paused, hesitated for a long while, then gritted his teeth and followed Chen Fei, leaving together.

Chen Fei kept moving until they were several miles away from the coral reef group where the black lotus was, only then did he gradually stop, descending onto a higher terrain underwater peak. This place offered an open view, allowing them to observe the scene miles away with ease.

Seeing Chen Fei choose to stop here, the Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace couldn’t help but ask, ”Why did we leave?”

He really couldn’t understand. The black gold lotus seed was obviously a naturally nurtured treasure, a treasure from the heavens! And the lotus itself could even affect the Yin River, definitely top-tier, and the seed it produced was undoubtedly of immense value, yet Chen Fei decided to abandon it. It was really strange.

He was somewhat unwilling.

”I think there’s something wrong with that lotus.” But with just this one sentence, Chen Fei blocked all the rest of the Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace’s words.

This was an adventure in itself! Since he felt there was a problem with the lotus, then leaving was undoubtedly the right decision.

If he were unwilling, he could indeed choose to act alone and give it a try.

The Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace’s expression changed repeatedly, but in the end, he gritted his teeth and said nothing.

Though he was the more powerful Mystic Heaven Position King, in this Ghost City, Ghost World, and Yin River, Chen Fei was obviously much more composed. People indeed have their own auras, and Chen Fei’s aura was clearly superior, affecting his judgment.

Intuition told him that trusting Chen Fei might just be the right decision...

Soon, several months passed again, and all the lotus leaves and petals on the lotus finally fell off. The pod was as large as a jade plate, the black gold crystalline seeds inside were full and round, radiating a mystical brilliance, eliciting involuntary exclamations from anyone who saw them—treasure! This was truly a naturally nurtured treasure of unimaginable value.

But now, the Elder of Hundred Knowledge Palace had long lost his previous ’ambition and confidence,’ and was even considering abandoning Chen Fei and escaping on his own...

In the northwestern part of the coral reef group at the center of the Yin River bed, a massive, chilling cold figure was coiled there, its serpent body writhing, its eyes cruel and bloodthirsty, its entire body covered in silver scales like snow, exuding ghostly light, freezing the surrounding several hundred meters of water into thick layers of ghostly ice!

In the southern section of the underwater sand gravel area, a giant lobster as huge as a bull, clad in purple armor, stood dominantly there.

Its eyes were pupil-less, the eyeballs pure white, with concentric black rings on top of its head, emitting horrid ghost qi, dazzling and fearsome...

These two ghost beasts looked like ruthless and uncompromising creatures at first glance! And indeed they were, for their strength, aura, and momentum did not lose out to the previously seen green bat monster bird.

Moreover, it was quite obvious that these two were also attracted by the black gold lotus seed... With three ghost beasts possessing Mystic Heaven Position strength arriving in succession and guarding the area, ready for a bloody fight, what else could they do other than run away!?
