I Am Establishing a Safe Zone in the Nightmare World

Chapter 134: Chapter 127: Harvest from the Depths

Somewhere in the Pale Wasteland Area.

BUZZ!

The dilapidated wall slowly shifted as a door wide enough for three people to walk abreast surfaced.

The next moment, the door was pushed open.

Alchemist, a veteran Refining Realm powerhouse of the Wizard’s House, stepped out first. This area had been discovered by him and his teammates. Following closely behind, Profound Sword, Rakshasa Sword, Xi Xue, and Peaches—all peak First Refinement Realm powerhouses—successively pushed the door open and emerged.

This was their first time utilizing the ability of Crossing Dream Realm in the deep layers of the Nightmare.

”We actually made it? I was just in the Ghost Forest Area! This crossing spanned an entire major region.”

”However, our current area is still on the outskirts of these major regions, so the spatial distances are relatively close.”

The three areas were like three paths leading in different directions deep into the Nightmare. At this time, although the areas they fell into were different, they were essentially not far from the starting points of the ”three paths.” They were on the outermost fringes.

Top: ● (Baijiang City)

Middle: ↓ (Ruins Nightmare)

Bottom: ↓ (Three different areas extending downwards)

”Rumor has it that if we keep advancing straight into the depths of the Pale Wasteland for about ten days to half a month, we’ll reach another prefecture-level city, Lindong City?” asked Thinker, Alchemist’s teammate who had also taken the Second Seat as his teacher.

Chen Baichuan nodded. ”That’s correct. However, to travel to Lindong City or Chongshan City, a detailed route map is necessary. Simply marching into the depths would most likely result in getting lost within the Nightmare World. Although we Dream Descenders can ’return to the Present Realm,’ if we venture too deep and end up too far from Baijiang City, we might not be able to find our return Anchor Point.”

Profound Sword, Xi Xue, and the others nodded slightly. They had indeed learned this information before. However, given their current strength, they were far from capable of venturing too deep into the Nightmare. To truly traverse deep into the Nightmare, they would likely need to break through to the Extraordinary Realm, or at least be led by an Extraordinary Being. With their current capabilities, they didn’t even have the qualifications to join such an expedition team.

Chen Baichuan said, ”Our Countermeasures Bureau’s First Squad constantly travels between several cities all year round, exchanging information and trading treasures with Lindong City and Chongshan City. They’ve even been to cities much farther away.”

”Cities farther away? What other cities are there?”

The speaker was Hair Ghost. He was currently off the clock, but instead of resting, he volunteered to join upon hearing that Profound Sword and the others were preparing to raid the deep Nightmare.

Chen Baichuan said, ”I haven’t looked into the specific cities, but word is that there are currently eight discovered survivor cities. And not all of these eight cities belong to our Great Xia. I recall one being a White-headed Eagle city.”

”White-headed Eagle?” Hair Ghost was surprised. If he remembered correctly, back in the Blue Star’s reality, Great Xia and the White-headed Eagle were separated by an entire ocean.

Chen Baichuan’s teammate, Group Leader Chen, another veteran operative of the Countermeasures Bureau, said, ”It’s not just the White-headed Eagle; there are cities from other countries too. We don’t understand the exact reasons either. Let’s just say that the Nightmare World cannot be measured by real-world spatial distances. Space here is inherently disordered.”

He paused before continuing, ”And it’s not limited to White-headed Eagle cities. Rumor has it that deep in the Nightmare, we might even encounter people or cities from other worlds.”

”Aliens?”

This was the first time Profound Sword, Rakshasa Sword, and the others had heard of this. When it came to intelligence, they naturally fell short compared to the higher-ups in the Countermeasures Bureau. However, they found that they weren’t particularly shocked. The Nightmare World was infinitely vast, and there were even intelligent groups among the anomalies. Therefore, the idea of aliens being active deep in the Nightmare World wasn’t all that surprising anymore. At most, they were just somewhat curious.

Chen Baichuan said, ”I used to have a dream. I wanted to join the First Squad and follow the captain to see the outside world.”

”And now?” Profound Sword asked.

”Now? I’ve grown a bit ambitious. Forming an adventure group to explore deep in the Nightmare World doesn’t sound half bad!”

They began to advance toward their target area.

Over twenty minutes later, Chen Baichuan and the other eight arrived in front of a hollow square-shaped apartment building.

Alchemist said, ”This is the place. According to our observations, there’s a 90% chance this building is defined as a standalone area. As long as we slay the Leader anomaly inside, we’ll highly likely conquer this area.”

This sounded much simpler than raiding a Shallow Nightmare. In reality, it was. There was no need for flashy deductions, nor did they have to search for key items. All they had to do was defeat a boss. But the difficulty lay exactly in defeating that boss!

The complex raiding steps of the Shallow Area were actually beneficial to Dream Descenders, greatly reducing the dangers they faced when confronting anomalies. But in the deep layers, Dream Descenders had no choice but to fight head-on.

Fighting head-on was one thing...

”We also need to be careful,” Profound Sword chimed in. ”If the commotion from the battle is too loud, we might attract other terrifying anomalies from the surroundings! Therefore, we need to observe and evaluate first to see if this place is suitable for a raid.”

”We should,” Alchemist agreed.

The nine of them, divided into five groups, did not step into the square building. Instead, each group took out a Witchcraft Flying Eye. The Witchcraft Flying Eyes’ wings vibrated with a BUZZ, emitting a barely detectable low hum as they scattered and flew off into the surroundings. They needed to explore the inside of the building, but they also needed to thoroughly scout the outside.

A long while later.

”Well, I haven’t found any terrifying anomalies on my end.”
