MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

1161  Challenging the Heavens (4)

”…Fight!”

Whoosh!

At the very moment those words left Schoʼdoxaʼs mouth, the half-elf swiftly activated all of the stat-boosting skills in her arsenal, causing her body to give off a faint green glow.

Seeing that Valyr was also in the process of activating his stat-boosting skills, the woman went ahead and charged towards him without hesitation, flaring out her aura in the process.

Swoosh!

”Considering that youʼre at the peak of Rank 4, itʼs quite surprising that youʼve gotten this far.” Taking out a whip made out of vines from who knows where, the woman opened her mouth all of a sudden while her gaze was focused on Valyrʼs movements.

”After all, before you could even get the chance to fight against me, youʼd have to fight against the winner of the Early Rank 6 tournament.”

”I donʼt know whether your victory against him was a fluke or not, but Iʼm more than certain your streak of victories ends here,” said the half-elf in a slightly arrogant tone, stopping a couple of meters away from the young man.

After that, she redirected her aura towards the whip she held, infusing it with a great amount of energy in the process.

In response, the whip seemingly gained a mind of its own, beginning to slither about as if it were a serpent waiting for her orders.

”There is no winning against me.” Just as Valyr had finished activating all of the stat-boosting skills he used in his earlier fight against the orc, the half-elf spoke up once more, her whip gradually moving closer towards him.

”There is only losing.”

”…Is that so?” Getting the feeling that the woman would continue on the current topic, Valyr decided to take control of the current situation, interrupting her next words with a question of his own.

”Do you really think Iʼd lose against you?”

”How arrogant,” scoffed the half-elf in response, the whip in her hands more than ready to launch an offensive against him. ”Do you even have the means to bridge such a massive gap in strength? Iʼm more than certain you won your previous fight through sheer luck.”

At those words, a faint smile began to creep up onto Valyrʼs lips. ”Luck, huh? Do you really think I relied on luck?”

”Oh?” At those words, the half-elf raised her eyebrows, her interest seemingly piqued.

”Be my guest, then,” replied the half-elf after that, crossing her arms as if she found his actions laughable. ”Show me just how a peak Rank 4 class holder like you would take on a mid Rank 6 class holder like me.”

”With great pleasure.” Briefly chuckling in response to her words, Valyr briefly took in a deep breath before proceeding to take action.

”[Blink of the Azure Dragon].”

Whoosh!

Activating one of his movement skills, Valyr immediately disappeared from the womanʼs vision, causing the latter to briefly look around her surroundings to see where he went.

Thinking that he used the movement skill to force her into close combat, the half-elf became disappointed when she noticed the young man appear a bit further away from her a couple of seconds later.

ʼHeʼs just stalling for time,ʼ she thought to herself, finding the notion of surmounting such a massive gap in strength preposterous.

However, just as she thought her opponent would begin to run around the arena to continue stalling for time, Valyr instead moved in a way that she did not expect.

”Bind.” Swiftly conjuring a strand of blue-white energy, the young man infused the strand with his thoughts, immediately transforming it into a field that pinned the half-elf in place.

Briefly wondering whether the field pinning her down was still part of the young manʼs plan of stalling for time, such thoughts immediately disappeared from the half-elfʼs mind the moment Valyr released his aura in its entirety.

Fwoosh!

Though the young man gave off an aura that was inferior to the aura she unleashed, the might contained in it was more than enough for the half-elf to realize that his earlier claims werenʼt baseless.

With that in mind, the half-elf began to infuse energy into both the whip and the field surrounding her, attempting to break the bindings pinning her down as she launched an offensive against Valyr.

However, only one of actions ended up working out.

”What?!” Confident that sheʼd be able to move once more thanks to her actions, the half-elf was taken by surprise when she found out she remained rooted in place.

Feeling a hint of fear from the fact that things werenʼt working out the way it did in her mind, the half-elf decided to focus her attention on her whip for the meantime, watching it close the distance between her and Valyr in a matter of seconds.

Unfortunately, just as the whip was about to strike the young man, the latter decided to use [Blink of the Azure Dragon] once more, appearing a few meters away from where he previously stood as he aimed his arquebus at her.

”[Truth Weaver Scripture: Tetrad].”

”[Intent of Shadow Energy].”

Not wanting to mess up his next move, Valyr decided to allocate some of the blue-white energy towards the whip chasing him, briefly stopping its movements as he activated his Intent with the Truth Weaver Scripture.

”[Grand Burst].” Letting out a drawn-out exhale, he then infused the arquebus with Prime Azure Energy as he pulled on the trigger, sending out a bullet that directly headed straight for the half-elfʼs head.

Boom!

Propelled by a level of strength that was close to transcending the peak of mortality, it went without saying that the bullet appeared in front of the half-elf in less than an instant, forcing the latter to hastily conjure a shield in front of her as a last-ditch effort.

Sadly, the bullet pierced through the shield as if it wasnʼt there at all.

Bang!

As if the current situation was a response to her complacence from earlier, the bullet easily pierced through the half-elfʼs forehead, boring a small hole that soon caused blood to spurt out from both sides.

”Gasp!”

Feeling remorse as a myriad number of thoughts coursed through her mind, the half-elf gradually felt both her body and mind begin to succumb to the damage she received, causing her to inwardly wonder why she made such a stupid decision.

Fortunately, Schoʼdoxa made a move before she fully succumbed to the damage, activating a series of skills that swiftly returned her connection back to the waking world.

Whoosh!

Gradually feeling the strength she swiftly lost return to her body, the half-elf eventually let out a wide sigh of relief the moment she felt like she returned to her previous condition, giving Schoʼdoxa a look of gratitude in response.

After that, she shifted her gaze towards Valyr, only to feel fear bubbling up within her body as he looked back at her with a solemn gaze.

Knowing that this fear was a result of her decisions, the woman was about to tell Valyr she was in the wrong after taking a few deep breaths, only to notice the faint smirk that was hanging on the edge of the young manʼs lips.

ʼYou…ʼ Feeling as if the young man was mocking her for her arrogance and complacence, the words she previously had in mind disappeared without a trace.

In its place was a barely suppressed anger that was directed towards the young man, the words he spoke to her before the start of the fight still echoing in her mind.

”Alright then.” Though he took note that the half-elf was clearly staring daggers at Valyr, Schoʼdoxa acted as if he was oblivious to all of that, teleporting the half-elf away with a snap of his fingers.

Whoosh!

”So, using the arquebus was the right choice, no?” Making sure that the half-elf returned to her arena, the man soon threw out a question at the young man, letting out a slight chuckle as he spoke.

”The fight was definitely faster than before.” In response, Valyr let out a chuckle of his own as he nodded back. ”If I knew I could use it from the start, I would have used it in every fight.”

”Sure, you may have missed out on that,” replied Schoʼdoxa as he nodded. ”But at least you still have the opportunity to use it in your next and final fight.”

Valyr could only smile at those words.

”Well… youʼre not wrong.” Definitely gonna edit this chapter later. I feel like the chapter doesnʼt flow that well.
